The Summer Internationals 2023, so far, have been a machete through the history books and stats about recent form, with plenty of controversy and excitement in the competition. Week four should be no different. The first game of the weekend to kick off will be Wales v South Africa, and I am imagining there will be high drama come 3.15 p.m. on Saturday and that the Welsh will have to bring their A game if they have any hope of toppling the Rugby World Cup champions, the Springboks.

Andrew Brace, the Irishman, will be the referee for the day - although 'Irishman' seems a touch reductive given his birthplace in Wales, international caps for Belgium, and success officiating matches in the Pro 14, European Rugby Challenge Cup, and European Rugby Championship. With years of experience dating back to 2017, however, the one thing of which you can be sure is that he will be a sound mind on the pitch as he takes charge.

To date, Wales and South Africa have played each other on a total of 40 occasions. The Springboks have won 32 of those tests, and Wales have won seven - the odd one out being a draw. Despite their deficit, Wales have managed a few moments of glory against the green and gold, even winning their first match against the Springboks on South African soil in 2022. Will we see another Cinderella story play out for the Welsh this time? I suppose we best get stuck into my Wales v South Africa prediction!

💯 Wales v South Africa Betting Odds Summer Internationals Series

It wouldn't be much of a prediction without looking at the odds for Wales v South Africa from the top rugby bookmakers in Ireland. Below, I have outlined what's on offer.

🥇 Wales v South Africa Odds: Match Winner

For those that like nice and simple 1x2 betting, let's start with Wales v South Africa match winner odds. I feel you might agree that the bookies look like they are playing nice with their winner odds for this test.

➕ Wales v South Africa Handicap 3-Way Odds

It seems the bookies think this is going to be a close one - within a try or so - according to these odds. My full thoughts on betting tips for this market later on.

🏮 Wales v South Africa Asian Handicap Odds

This is where we can see how divided the bookies really are. With handicap odds in favour of both Wales v South Africa, you would be forgiven for thinking the bookies may be unsure of how they feel this encounter will play out.

💪 Wales v South Africa Both Halves Odds

There's not really many options for both halves bets for this game, but nevertheless, here is what you can expect.

🔍 Wales v South Africa Match Winner Prediction

Now we are several weeks into the Summer Internationals, we can see how both teams have done so far and make a more informed judgement on who we suspect our winner will be.

The Welsh have played two matches against England, both home and away. In the first part, Wales v England, we saw a shock result of 20-9 in favour of the Dragon, and I imagine there was singing in the valleys that night. Sadly, all that music would have been silenced merely a week later in the England v Wales game - the Men in Red looking to be in dire straits after a loss of 19-17 against an English team that only had 12 men on the pitch at one point due to three yellow cards - one of which was escalated to a red under the new 'bunker review' system.

The Springboks, on the other hand, have only played one match in the Summer Internationals thus far, travelling for their away game, Argentina v South Africa. Whilst it was a good game of rugby to watch, the 13-24 final score tells you all you need to know about how comfortably the 'Boks were able to grab the big W.

Bearing in mind the history between the two sides and their recent forms, there will only be one result on the 19th. I am predicting the Springboks to win by 12 points.

✔️ Wales v South Africa Betting Tips

1️⃣ Match Winner: South Africa to Win

South Africa match winner odds above 1.01 to beat a much weaker tier 1 nation? That's interesting in itself. The 'Boks may rock a slightly different starting line-up to what they will in the Rugby World Cup in the autumn, but I think, even still, that they stand a good chance of winning. Odds of South Africa to win at 1.45 at LeoVegas Sports are very tempting for me.

2️⃣ Handicap Winner: South Africa to Win (-0)

I honestly believe that South Africa will manage a 12 point gap on Wales, so I would be slightly tempted to go for South Africa to win (-11.5) at 3.00 at Betway. For those that may want to err more on the side of caution - remember that there are no guarantees in sports, readers! - I think South Africa (-5.5) at 1.90 also at Betway offers good value for a potential return, if South Africa manage to play a nice, steady game and keep their foot on the pedal throughout the 80 minutes.

3️⃣ Both Halves: South Africa to Win Both Halves

Well, there's only one option for this market this week, so out of my favourite rugby bookmakers, it's either South Africa to win both halves at 1.77 at TonyBet Sports, assuming the Springboks win overall, or not placing the bet at all - other bookmakers may be available, however, so feel free to read our bookie reviews for more details. Would I take this market? I can't say I'm sure, so this would be a no for me.
