💡 F1 Betting Tips
Betting on Formula One is very much like betting on football, golf, or any other sport. In other words, you’ve got to know exactly what you’re doing! During an F1 race, there are just so many things that can influence every lap, resulting in a considerable impact on racing predictions. A few tips that are worth having in hand while betting on this sport are discussed below.
Check The Weather Predictions
F1 is an international sports competition held in different parts of the world which means drivers are constantly battling with a range of weather conditions. Temperature and humidity changes, even the slightest can be draining on F1 teams. When temperatures are high, ventilation can become an issue as the cockpit becomes extremely hot. Other sets of challenges also get involved with freezing temperatures. Car tyres may not heat up as fast as usual making them exercise a weaker grip on the track. Another aspect is the wind which has a power of action that is very much underrated. Light winds don’t hurt but when they get strong and dusty, car handling and aerodynamics can be harmed. On rainy days, F1 cars are put to the test as they don’t have as much stability and traction control as everyday cars. During races with downpours, engine power tends to play a higher role than the driver’s performance.
Manage Betting Funds Strategically
As a punter, it’s important to know that beyond choosing the right odds, you’ve got a lot of work to do regarding the management of your betting funds. If you’re going to stake your money on an event simply because all conditions are united to make it successful, then you’re taking more risks than you probably realize. The very first step to take for betting funds management is to set a limit on your bankroll. It could be a specific amount of money over a day, week, or month. From here, you can move forward to set a percentage limit on how much of your bankroll can be spent at once on a bet slip. Some punters may use as much as 5% of their betting funds at once but if you’re new to this, we advise you to keep it below 3%.
Check the Track Temperatures and Tyres
Most F1 drivers will tell you that minimal changes in track temperature often go unnoticed. However, that’s not the case on hot days when you can almost see heat rays bouncing back from the surface of the earth. So far, observed temperatures during F1 have ranged from 5°C to 42.5°C. The hotter the track gets, the lesser the grip of the tyres on the track, that has been the general thumb rule. This is mainly because before Formula One cars enter the track, tyres are already heated. This, in addition to hot tracks, can cause the overheating of tyres which in turn accelerates tyre wear out. On the other hand, when the track gets too cold, F1 car tyres tend to lose pressure faster as they require more energy to get going. These factors can influence the expected performance of drivers and teams and eventually your predictions and anticipated bets.
Follow up the Seasonal Form Of Each Racer
If you’ve had to partake in sporting activities, you probably realized that an injury or other health issues impact performance. That also applies in F1 where the form of a driver during previous races can indicate how high are their chances of winning a tournament. These drivers sit in their cars for a long time and must stay at the peak of their physical shape to better accommodate the high speeds encountered by their cars. This is one of the reasons why F1 races do not extend beyond two hours. Heat stress, gravity force, and muscular effort are just a few of the things that can negatively affect a driver’s form. F1 reporters and journalists may not always share this kind of info but if you spot them yourselves, it can help you adjust your bets accordingly.
💳 Best Payment Methods at F1 Betting Sites
Getting involved in online sports betting means you should be ready to spend some cash. Luckily enough Irish online bookmakers accept multiple payment methods through which safe deposits and withdrawals can be made.
Cards
Bank cards are the most common options available at Irish online bookies. These mainly include Mastercard, Maestro, and Visa although Maestro is less popular than the two others. Each of these cards exists as a debit and a credit card but the credit card is preferred by sportsbooks. With these cards, you can initiate payments typically ranging from €10 to €4,000 – sometimes, the minimum withdrawal possible is €20. Funds can usually be found in your betting account immediately after the deposit is confirmed. Withdrawals, on the other hand, may require 1 – 5 days depending on the bookie and the institution issuing the card. Security-wise, bank cards are very Security-wise, bank cards are very reliable as they use a PIN code to authenticate payments. Fees can apply to withdrawals but as for deposits, they are usually free of charge.
e-Wallets
Electronic wallets such as Skrill, ecoPayz, MuchBetter, Neteller, and PayPal often constitute the greater share of payment methods used for sports betting. Just like bank cards, these e-wallets are available for both forms of payment. Through these methods, transactions often range from the bookie’s lowest possible deposit to €5,000. Another form of electronic wallet too that can be used is e-vouchers. These wallets world like prepaid cards and are only available for deposits. Paysafecard and Neosurf are the two most popular e-vouchers for real money gambling. Unlike Skrill and the other e-wallets, payments via e-vouchers rarely go beyond €2,500 per transaction. Each of these wallets offers security and rapidity and where deposits are possible, between 2 – 5 days can be required.
Bank Transfer
Do you want to use funds directly from your bank account without going through a card or an e-wallet, then Bank Transfer is the option. It is a classic payment method found in almost every online Formula 1 betting site and serves for deposits and withdrawals. Payments via bank transfers can have very high processing limits – high maximums and minimums. It can thus be a good option for players who do not want to withdraw in multiple shifts. The major limitation of initiating bank transfers is that payments usually take more time to be completed. Withdrawals may take up to eight days while deposits may require from a few hours to a couple of days to be fully processed.
Recall that regardless of the payment method chosen, you may have to pay administrative fees to the bookie. Also, fees may be incurred when recharging bank cards and e-wallets.
🥇 How We Select the Best F1 Sites?
In the earlier parts of this review, we discussed some betting sites we consider the best for Irish punters. You may be wondering what motivated us to choose those bookies and not others. Well, we’re about to take you through some of the major factors we consider for ranking and rating online bookies.
Licensed
Licenses are a strict requirement in the online gaming industry. They are a must for many reasons, one of which is that they represent a set of rules and regulations by which bookies abide. Before obtaining a license to operate, sports betting sites meet certain criteria in terms of variety of services, safety, and responsible gambling. Several regulatory institutions like the UKGC, KGC, and MGA exist, and they all strive to render online gaming safer over time. We thus ensure that the Formula One betting sites we recommend hold a license that authorizes them to operate.
Welcome Offers
Free bets and percentage match-up bonus cash are the two main forms of welcome bonuses given by online bookies in Ireland. In the past few years, the number of sportsbooks online has grown rapidly which is why these sites make use of welcome offers to stay ahead of the competition. As you’ve probably had to notice, our top-ranked sites have free bets in store for new players. Of course, to grab these free bets, you must fulfill the first minimum deposit requirement. Welcome bonuses are usually available for use on single and or multiple bets. Once we confirm that there’s a new player bonus, our next concern is verifying that all applicable T&Cs have been stated clearly.
Payment Methods
When rating bookies, we always want to be sure that punters are provided with multiple safe payment options. Top betting sites often provide e-wallets, mostly Skrill, Neteller, and PayPal. As for bank cards, Visa and Mastercard are the most common although some bookies have Maestro too. In addition to these, payments directly to and from a bank account are generally possible. The processing times and limits for each of these methods are not the same. However, up to €5,000 can usually be processed and withdrawals on average take between 1 -3 days.
F1 Betting Odds
We’re all about F1 so there’s no way we’ll go recommending bookies that don’t have F1 betting odds in the first place. When checking for these odds, we’re looking to see how competitive they are. At the same time, we analyze these odds to see if they concord with the realities of the game in terms of performance and previous records. The better the odds, the more chances punters have to maximize any potential winnings.
Available Bet Types
We check available bet types to know if you’ll have enough options to choose from. The most common bets usually provided are “Driver to win a race” and “Outright winner”. Other types include “Driver to win pole position”, “Best finishing position”, “Team to feature winning driver”, and “Qualifying winning margin”. These bets can be placed as single bets or combined to give a multiple-event bet. Besides these, we verify if these bets can be placed before races and during races.
Mobile Betting
PCs and desktops have been used for online betting for the longest time. However, we’re convinced that most punters spend more time with their mobile devices. That’s why we also placed an accent on recommending sites that are mobile-compatible. Through a web browser on your mobile, you can access the betting platforms and place bets. What’s even more, bookies like Betsson, Spreadex, and 888sport also have a mobile app.
Live Streaming
Live streaming is a feature found at online bookies through which punters can watch an ongoing F1 race. It is very valuable for live bets although it may have a few seconds of delay compared to the actual race. Bwin Sports and Spreadex Sports are two of our recommended bookies where live streaming is provided.

📜 A Brief History of F1
F1 or Formula One is the highest level of international racing for open-wheel racing cards with single-seater formula. The term “Formula” refers to the rules by which the cars of participants must conform. Formula One competition draws its roots from the European Motor Racing Championships held around the 1920s – 1930s. The competition was inaugurated in 1950 at Silverstone Circuit and was won by Giuseppe Farina, driving for Alfa Romeo. In 1958, the Constructors Championship which crowns the team with the most points of the season was introduced. The FIA (Fédération Internationale de l'Automobile) is the governing body of F1 and promotes accessible, safe, and sustainable mobility for road users worldwide.
💥 Why is F1 so Popular?
According to a non-official report, Formula One has more than 500 million fans, with about 30% of whom joined over the past four years. Has it got to do with the fancy nature of the cars, the superstar status of the drivers, or simply public appeal? No one can say for sure but it’s clear that Formula 1 is one of the greatest and most followed sports in the world. F1 cars can clock a speed of up to 223.6 mph and can accelerate from 0 to 60 mph in only 2.6 seconds. Witnessing such speed levels is quite fascinating for viewers. Also, the aerodynamics of the cars and race circuits have even more to excite fans as they cross their fingers and stand on their feet with every lap. The competition is getting more and more sponsorship demands, especially with the names of big brands like Mercedes and Heineken attached to it. In 2022, Formula One recorded total revenue of about €2.5 billion from about €2.1 billion in 2021.
🏁 Popular F1 Tournaments
An F1 season consists of “Grands Prix” which is a series of races that take place in different countries across continents. Every year, about 21 races are run and a points system is used to determine two annual World Championships winners: one for the teams and the other for the drivers. Races either occur on closed public roads or circuits purposely built for racing. Some of the most popular tournaments that make up Formula One include the following:
United States Grand Prix
This is a racing event that has been held since 1908. It was initially known as the American Grand Prize until 1958 when its current name was adopted. A year later, the race witnessed its youngest-ever winner Bruce McLaren who grabbed his first F1 victory. Since the event became part of Formula One, six drivers have won first place. Lewis Hamilton has six titles, followed by Michael Schumacher with five and then Graham Hill and Jim Clark with three each. The defending champion of the 2022 Unites States Grand Prix who also won the 2021 edition is Max Verstappen. The 2023 season is labelled the Lenovo United States Grand Prix and was held in October 2022 at the Circuit of the Americas.
Austrian Grand Prix
The Austrian Grand Prix was first held in 1963 and hasn’t been that much of an annual event. It returned to the Formula One calendar in 2014 after being absent since 2003. Originally, it was held in Zeltweg but later, it moved to Spielberg which is only about 2.5 miles away. Its inaugural event was won by Jack Brabham and the first championship took place in 1964. The Italian Lorenzo Bandini raced in a Ferrari and won his one and only F1 championship race. Although this GP was successful back then, the dangerous nature of the road pushed FIA to remove the Austrian Grand Prix from F1. It was later reintegrated in 1970 and in 1987, the race suffered several accidents and once again, FIA standards judged it too dangerous. This time around, a decade was observed until 1997 when the race was part of F1 again. It was held till 2003 when it received negative reports after Rubens Barrichello was instructed by Ferrari to cede his victory to Michael Schumacher. Max Verstappen has the most wins in the tournament – four in all including the 2023 Austrian Grand Prix.
Dutch Grand Prix
The Dutch Grand Prix has been held 34 times in all, the very first in 1950 won by Stirling Moss. It then ran annually on the Zandvoort circuit until 1985 when the company that managed the circuit ran out of business. Throughout that period, several drivers of the Dutch Grand Prix were victims of crashes. In 1960, Dan Gurney had an accident, and the death of a spectator was recorded. Another tragedy struck the race in 1970 when Piers Courage competing for Frank Williams lost his life after a wheel hit him on the head. Three years after, Zandvoort’s reputation didn’t get any better as Roger Williamson crashed heavily and his car was set ablaze leading to his death due to asphyxiation. Other crashes were recorded in 1979, 1882, and 1983 and in 1985, an end was put to it. After about a decade and a half, the Dutch Grand Prix returned in 2001. Jim Clark has the most victories and the 2021 and 2022 seasons were won by Max Verstappen.
Mexico City Grand Prix
This Mexican Grand Prix, held in Autódromo Hermanos Rodríguez, Mexico, is a racing tournament that was first held in 1962 and won by Jim Clark of Team Lotus. A year later, its F1 championship began with Clark claiming victory once again. Between 1964 and 1968, Clark, Graham Hill, and John Surtees were some of the favourites of the competition. In 1970, public attendance at the Mexico City Grand Prix was a record-breaker as people came in their numbers to see Pedro Rodriguez. The 1971 event was scheduled but with the death of Pedro and struggles with crowd control the previous year, the tournament was cancelled. Attempts to bring back the Mexico Grand Prix failed until 1986 and in 1992 the state of the track alongside environmental issues led to its removal from F1 one more time. It was brought back in 2015 and in 2019, due to support from the Mexican government, the name was reformulated as the Mexico City Grand Prix to show recognition for the efforts. Max Verstappen holds the most wins – four and is also the winner of the 2022 tournament.
Azerbaijan Grand Prix
The Azerbaijan Grand Prix recently joined F1, and the first F1 Grand Prix in Azerbaijan was first run in 2016 at the Baku City Circuit. A year later, the first Azerbaijan Grand Prix was hosted at the same venue which is a public street circuit. Red Bull’s Daniel Ricciardo grabbed his first win and in 2018, the title was seized by Lewis Hamilton of Team Mercedes. The 2019 and 2021 competitions were won by Valtteri Bottas and Sergio Pérez respectively while the 2020 event was cancelled due to COVID-19. For the 2023 season, a new qualifying session called “Sprint Shootout” was implemented, making it the first of its kind. At the end of the event, Sergio Pérez was crowned winner of both the Sprint race and the main race.
Emilia Romagna Grand Prix
The Emilia Romagna Grand Prix is yet to get some interesting stories attached to its name as it was first held only in 2020. It gets its name Emilia Romagna from the Italian region which is home to the race’s circuit - Autodromo Internazionale Enzo e Dino Ferrari. Initially, the Emilia Romagna Grand Prix was intended to be a one-time event. However, it managed to return in 2021 as a replacement for the Chinese Grand Prix which was postponed because of COVID-19. In early 2022, a contract was signed with its organizers, prolonging the event until 2025. During the 2022 Emilia Romagna Grand Prix, Max Verstappen qualified for pole position led every lap, completed the fastest lap, and won the race awarding him his second Grand Chelem.
Singapore Grand Prix
First held in 1966, the Singapore Grand Prix is one of the motor racing events that make up the F1 World Championship. It takes place at Marina Bay Street Circuit although in its debuts between 1966 – 1973, it was hosted at Thomson Road. Fernando Alonso driving for the Renault team was the winner of the inaugural race which was the first-ever Formula One race to be held at night. The nature and placement of the Marina Bay Circuit make the Singapore Grand Prix one of the most challenging tracks on the F1 calendar. Ferrari, Red Bull, and Mercedes have the most repeated wins for the Constructors Championship – four each while Sebastian Vettel has five wins in all for the Drivers Championship.
Abu Dhabi Grand Prix
During the Abu Dhabi F1 Festival in 2007, it was announced that the Abu Dhabi Grand Prix will be introduced. Two years later, the first race took place the Yas Marina Circuit designed by Hermann Tilke. It was the last of the 17 meetings for the F1 World Championship for that year and was won by Red Bull’s Sebastian Vettel who maintained the title the following year. In 2012, Lewis Hamilton has the first spot on the podium and the following year, he was dethroned by Finnish driver Kimi Räikkönen who later lost the title to Vettel in 2013. Going from 2014 till 2019, victory shifted from Lewis H to Nico Rosberg, back to Lewis H, then Valtteri Bottas and once again to Lewis H who recorded two consecutive winnings. After the COVID-19 pandemic, the event returned in 2020 with a 10-year extension agreement with its organizers. Max Verstappen won that year’s event and has since kept the title.
Saudi Arabian Grand Prix
The Saudi Arabian Grand Prix has been around since 2021 and its inaugural event was in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia. When it was made known in 2019 that plans were underway for a motorsports complex in the city of Qiddiya, F1 was yet to comment on an eventual race. However, in 2020, the Saudi Arabian Grand Prix appeared on the Formula One provisional calendar and in 2021, the event was confirmed to be held in Jeddah. The opening event was won by Lewis Hamilton who later lost the title to Max Verstappen in 2022. As for the 2023 Saudi Arabia Grand Prix, it was won by Verstappen’s teammate Sergio Pérez.
Qatar Grand Prix
There’s not much to say about the Qatar Grand Prix as it has been held only one time since it started in 2021. Its inaugural race unfolded at the Lusail International Circuit, North of Doha, Qatar. The event was not scheduled for 2022 as Qatar was already hosting the 2022 FIFA World Cup. The Qatar Grand Prix is expected to return for the 2023 F1 World Championship with a 10-year contract. In the meantime, Lewis Hamilton and Mercedes hold the Drivers and Constructors Championships titles respectively.
Miami Grand Prix
The Miami Grand Prix joined F1 in 2022 and has been held two times at the Miami International Autodrome. It has a ten-year contract with F1 even after suffering complications resulting from the construction of PortMiami. Before that, the race was expected for the 2021 season, a plan which fell to the water due to issues of track location. In 2022, it finally became a reality and victory went to Max Verstappen racing for Red Bull.
