💯 Summer Internationals Odds

The Summer Internationals work slightly differently to other international rugby events, such as the Six Nations or the Rugby World Cup, as there is no option of placing bets on the outright winner.

However, do not despair as there are still many betting options for each individual match, and you can find the odds for some popular markets in my Summer Internationals predictions. To check out the full Summer Internationals schedule, take a look at the "Fixtures" section below.

✔️ Summer Internationals Betting Tips for 2024

If you think that Summer International betting will only give you the option of betting on the match winner, I have some excellent news. There will be a nice range of markets that you can put your money on, and I am going to take you through some of the most popular ones right now.

1️⃣ 1x2 Betting

There is no overall winner for the Summer Internationals, but there is likely to be a winner in each match. Okay, there is a chance of a draw, but these are rare in rugby. With this market, you are betting on the outcome of the game - 1 represents the home side, X represents the draw, and 2 represents the away side.

Top Tip 1: I know that you might be tempted to put your money on the favourite because you think it is a foregone conclusion that they will win. However, it is important to do your research first because teams like to experiment in these friendly matches, giving their youngsters and fringe players a chance to show the rugby world what they are capable of. It is important to find out as much team news as you can before betting on a match winner.

2️⃣ Handicap Betting

When two teams are playing that are considered to have a huge gulf in class, the odds that are on offer will not be worth your while. The match winner odds for the favourites will be too short, while betting on the underdogs is akin to throwing your money down the drain. In such a scenario, handicap betting is worth your consideration as you can give one of the teams a hypothetical advantage or disadvantage.

For instance, the USA take on Scotland in week three, and the Scots will be the big favourites to win the match. Thus, you could think about giving them a seven-point disadvantage ahead of kick-off, meaning that they would need to win by at least eight points. Handicap betting might sound easy, but if your rugby knowledge is not up to scratch, you will lose more than you think.

Top Tip 2: If you are considering a handicap bet, you need to try and visualise what will happen in the match. If you think a team's backs will run riot and score a number of tries while their opponents will struggle to break the gain line, then try to work out roughly what the estimated score will be and use it as a rough guide for your handicap bet.

3️⃣ Winning Margin

This market is in the same kind of family as the aforementioned handicap bet since there is plenty of guesswork involved again, but I would say that you need much more precision to get any returns from this market. Your bookmaker will give you a variety of points brackets, such as 1-5, 6-10, 11-15, 16-20, and you need to pick the one that the final points winning margin will slot into.

For instance, if you opt for South Africa to beat Ireland by 6-10 points on the 13th of July and the Springboks go on to win by nine points, you will win your wager.

Top Tip 3:: The best time to make use of the winning margin market is when two teams are playing where it is highly likely that the final score will be close. If a top-tier nation is playing a lower-tier nation, then the final winning margin could end up being anything. However, if two evenly-matched teams are going to battle it out, there could be just the one score in it. In such a scenario, it is best to look at 1-5 or 6-10.

4️⃣ Both Halves

With this market, you are putting your money on two outcomes - the outcome of the first half and the outcome of the second. There are nine possible outcomes for this market, and you need to get both right in order for your wager to be a successful one. This market will usually come with higher odds than the match winner one because you have to guess two outcomes and not just one. Below are the nine available outcomes for the both halves market:

  • 1/1
  • 1/X
  • 1/2
  • X/1
  • X/X
  • X/2
  • 2/1
  • 2/X
  • 2/2

Top Tip 4:: Not all teams can play to their full capacity over 80 minutes, while whether a team has a traditional approach to subs or not will have an impact on the tactics and the overall impact that the bench will be able to have. Teams that have plenty of depth will probably dominate both halves of a match, but when a test sees two evenly-matched teams battling against each other, the upper hand can swing wildly between the two teams. You will get longer odds for swinging bets, but I prefer to back a team for both halves, so I would concentrate on matches such as USA vs Scotland, Japan vs Georgia, and South Africa vs Portugal.

5️⃣ Odd/Even Points

Some markets are just there for a bit of added entertainment and do not really require much thought to be put into them as they are 50/50. The odd/even market falls into this category, and what you are tasked with doing is predicting whether the final points tally for both teams will add up to an odd or an even number. With this market, you can cheer on whichever team is attacking or defending depending on where your bet currently stands.

Top Tip 5:: I recommend that you never decide to slap down a big stake on a 50/50 market because your chances of it going on to lose are too high. This is one of those types of bets where you just put down a small wager to increase the entertainment value of the match. If you win, you get some extra money to place another bet, but if you lose you will not be too disappointed.

6️⃣ Accumulator Betting

If you want to place bets on various markets in a match or across different games but do not want to spend too much money, you can think about compiling multiple choices into an accumulator bet, which is also known as an accy or acca. Depending on your selected bookmaker, there might be a few limitations on what you can combine in your accumulator, but there should still be plenty of options for you to choose from.

Top Tip 6:: You might be tempted to keep adding new outcomes to your accumulator in order to make the odds even more enticing, but keep in mind that with greater potential reward comes a greater risk of losing. With an accumulator bet, you need all of your selections to be correct to win. Thus, the chances of winning an accy with ten selections are extremely slim, and you will just waste your stake no matter how small it is.

💪 Best Summer Internationals Betting Sites?

For those Irish sports bettors who do not yet have a preferred bookie or are looking to try out a new provider, below you can find out more about five top sports betting sites.

1️⃣ DirectionBet: Best for Competitive Odds on Rugby Markets

DirectionBet only became available to Irish punters in 2023, but it has already taken the Irish online rugby betting scene by storm. One of the main reasons for its early success is the fact that they never skimp when it comes to their odds. The odds that a bookmaker offers are really important since these dictate the kind of returns you get for successful bets. To top things off, they offer plenty of different markets for the Summer Internationals.

If you decide to sign up at DirectionBet, then you can claim a 100% match up to the value of €100. Always read the T&Cs that apply.

To find out more about this bookie, have a gander at our Directionbet review.

2️⃣ Rugby Live Streaming and In-Play Betting Site

Some Irish rugby bettors enjoy watching a bit of a match first before they put down any bets, and this is called live betting. Sportaza has been around for over three years now, and they have a top live rugby betting platform. Not only do they provide helpful in-play stats and a visual pitch, but they also offer top live rugby markets and competitive odds. There is a cash-out option available, so you have the ability to cash out your bet if things look to be going against you.

Sportaza offers a top welcome bonus where they will match your first deposit *goto Sportaza-Sports[100% up to the value of €100].

Want to find out more before registering? Take some time to read our Sportaza review.

3️⃣ ProntoBet: Best Rugby Betting Site with ComboBoost

ProntoBet will not let Irish rugby bettors down with their competitive odds and market variety for big international rugby matches. However, where they manage to excel for me is in terms of their promotions. For instance, they currently have a quality ComboBoost promo where you can land a 100% profit boost. The more selections you add to your accy, the higher the boost will be. If you place a three-fold accumulator, there is a 3% boost, while there is a 100% boost for a 20-fold successful accumulator.

They do not offer a specific welcome bonus, but if you do decide to register here then you can claim a 10% cashback on live losses each day. As always check the T&Cs that are attached.

Those who want to find out more about ProntoBet can read our ProntoBet review

4️⃣ GoldenBet: Variety of Rugby Betting Markets with Bet Builder

If you could only bet on one outcome for a particular sport, such as rugby, things would end up getting boring pretty quickly. However, thankfully, when it comes to Summer Internationals, there are other betting options available to Irish rugby betting fans. GoldenBet stands out to me thanks to their market variation as here you can bet on markets such as match winner, halftime/fulltime, highest scoring half, and odd/even score.

They also have one of the biggest sports welcome bonuses around as your first deposit will be matched 100% up to the value of €500. Other promotions currently available include cashbacks and free bets.

Have a read of our in-depth GoldenBet review to find out everything that you need to know.

5️⃣ RoyalistPlay: Best All Rounder for Rugby Free Bets

There are no sports bettors out there who dislike earning themselves a free bet on their favourite sporting events, and RoyalistPlay is well aware of this fact. Not only do they offer good market variety and competitive odds for all their sports, but they also have some top-of-the-range free bet offers. For instance, every month they give you the chance to earn €50 worth of free bet tokens. They also regularly give out codes that you just need to input to claim the free bet that is on offer.

What type of Welcome Bonus do they currently offer? Well, your first deposit will be matched 100% up to the value of €100. Read the terms and conditions attached.
