Round 8 of the 2026 Formula 1 takes place at the Red Bull Ring in Spielberg, Austria, from June 26-28. Kimi Antonelli’s shock retirement in Barcelona saw his lead at the top of the drivers’ championship cut to 41 points after Lewis Hamilton claimed a fantastic first victory in Ferrari colours.
Despite that mishap in Barcelona, Antonelli still heads the Austrian Grand Prix betting market, followed by his Mercedes teammate George Russell. The Ferrari pair of Lewis Hamilton and Charles Leclerc will look to back up Ferrari’s success from Round 7, while it could also be a big weekend for Red Bull as they face into a home race weekend.
In this preview to the race, we will show you the latest odds, the best bets available to F1 fans as well as some of our Austrian Grand Prix tips. We will also offer up our very own Austrian Grand Prix winner prediction, so read on as we look ahead to what could be a pivotal juncture in the race for the 2026 F1 World Championship.
🔮 Austrian Grand Prix - Key Points
- Will Hamilton’s and Ferrari’s form Continue? What a run Hamilton and his car are on at the moment. After his disastrous debut season for the team, Hamilton has put himself in the title mix with his performances of late. If that run can continue, we will have a fully-fledged title race on our hands as we enter the middle third of the 2026 season.
- Can Lando Norris and McLaren Join the Party? It’s easy to forget, given Hamilton’s form, but a few short weeks ago it was Norris and the McLarens many were predicting to become Mercedes’ main rival this season. The McLarens claimed a one-two in the Miami sprint race, with Norris and Oscar Piastri finishing 2nd and 3rd behind Antonelli in the main race. Norris also claimed a respectable 3rd in Barcelona, and given his recent history in Austria, he may feel confident if the team can get their setup right.
- Can Red Bull make it a happy homecoming in Austria? It has been a tough season for the Red Bulls so far in 2026. Only one podium finish has been picked up by Max Verstappen, while there have been four retirements by Verstappen and Isack Hadjar. That means that the team currently sits 4th in the Constructor’s Championship as they enter their home race. A strong performance in Austria is always vital for the team, so they will hope the upgrades package they have adopted ahead of the race can close the gap to the leading three teams this year and give Verstappen at least a squeak at winning his 5th Austrian Grand Prix as a Red Bull driver.
🎯 Austrian Grand Prix Prediction
2-2-1 – those are the last three finishing positions the seven-time world champion Lewis Hamilton has had in his Ferrari this season.
The confidence the British driver had proclaimed in his car’s performance was fully justified as he picked up his first ever win in the iconic Ferrari at the Barcelona-Catalunya Grand Prix. That win cut Kimi Antonelli’s lead at the top of the driver’s standings to 41 points heading into this year’s Austrian Grand Prix, and we think that lead will be cut even further by the end of the action at the Red Bull Ring on June 28th. Hamilton’s form and confidence in the car mean our Austrian Grand Prix prediction is for a second consecutive win for Hamilton, as his 2026 title bid fully takes shape.
The Mercedes duo of Kimi Antonelli and George Russell can't be ruled out given their form in 2026 so far, but in the conditions that are expected in Austria over the weekend, we feel Hamilton and his Ferrari can hold off the Mercedes pair as well as Lando Norris in his McLaren and take the win. Hamilton is currently available at around 4.90 to win the race, and we wouldn’t put anyone off having a bet at that price.
He has only ever won once around the Red Bull Ring. What a season it would be to claim his second.
OUR PREDICTION:🏆 LEWIS HAMILTON TO WIN 🏆
🥇 Austrian Grand Prix Betting Odds
When we look at the latest Austrian Grand Prix betting odds, we can see that the Mercedes duo of Kimi Antonelli and George Russell are fancied to take another race win for the Constructors Championship leaders in Austria. That is to be expected given Mercedes have won 6 of the 7 races so far this season, but who else is fancied to make an impact at the Red Bull Ring?
Lewis Hamilton won his first race as a Ferrari driver in Barcelona and is available at around 4.90 to back up his success with another one. This could be a big weekend for Red Bull, and Max Verstappen is priced at around 12.00 with some bookmakers to make it a home success for Red Bull on June 28th.

🎈 Red Bull Ring Overview
The circuit we now know as the Red Bull Ring was originally founded as the Osterreichring and held the Austrian Grand Prix for eighteen seasons from 1970 until 1987. Safety concerns around the track meant that it did not hold the Austrian Grand Prix again until 1997. In that time the track was totally rebuilt and shortened from 5.942 km to 4.326 km. It then held the Austrian Grand Prix from 1997 until 2003. More construction work was done on the track by Red Bull in 2008, and the new track, known now as the Red Bull Ring, held its first Grand Prix since the redevelopment in 2014.
The track as we know it now consists of a first half that rewards power and pace as the cars blast along three straights separated by right-hand turns, including the first turn of the track, which is named the Niki Lauda Turn, in memory of the late 3-time F1 world champion Niki Lauda. As the drivers work their way downhill, however, the track calls for compromise as the drivers navigate a series of quick corners, including the famous Rindt turn.
The track is without doubt one of the most picturesque venues of the F1 season, with the ‘Nord’ Grandstand one of the Austrian Grand Prix’s best seats to watch the action unfold from.

✨ Betting on the Austrian Grand Prix - Our Conclusion
The big question heading into the 2026 Austrian Grand Prix is whether Lewis Hamilton and Ferrari can maintain the pressure they have built up on Mercedes over recent races. Hamilton claimed back-to-back second-place finishes in Canada and Monte-Carlo before delivering on the promise the car was showing by winning in Barcelona. If the 7-time World Champion can beat the Mercedes duo again, he will go from someone looking to put pressure on Kimi Antonelli to a major part of the 2026 World Drivers’ Championship title race. The conditions that are expected in Austria for the race are sunny and very hot, with temperatures expected to reach around 32°C. These conditions where tyre degradation will be vital could help Ferrari, especially if the upgrades they have introduced can boost their chances around the short, acceleration-heavy track in Spielberg.
It’s worth remembering how impressive Mercedes have been so far this season, though. They have won 6 of the 7 races up to now, with Antonelli winning 5 of the team’s 6 races. They could easily put themselves back in pole position in this season’s drivers' and constructors' championships with a strong weekend, but it is hard not to be taken by the form and improvements Hamilton and Ferrari are making lately, and we think that can continue.
