Match prediction 37 of 48 of our Rugby World Cup 2023 betting series.
Steven's prediction accuracy 2023: ✔️ 84.84%.
Our last match on Saturday, the 7th of October will be Ireland v Scotland. This will be one of the biggest games of the pool stage, and fans all over the world will be tuning in to see if Ireland will be able to retake the top spot in the Pool B table. The action will kick off at 8 p.m. at the Stade de France.
Nic Berry will be taking charge of the refereeing duties for this one, with Wayne Barnes and Jordan Way keeping watch of the touchlines. Our TMO for the day will be Brett Cronan.
We have seen a lot of Ireland v Scotland history of the years - 140 matches to be exact. All in all, it has been a close rivalry, with the Irish claiming 69 wins to Scotland's 66. Five matches have also been drawn. In more recent times, however, Ireland have won 12 out of their last 13 meetings with the Scots. As both teams can still qualify for the knock-out stages, it will come down to either team's greater want and need to lift the Webb Ellis Cup. Who will have the heart to take their next step on the journey and who will crash out of the Rugby World Cup 2023? Let's find out with my Ireland v Scotland prediction.

🔍 Ireland v Scotland Winner Prediction
Pool B is very exciting and will go down to the wire, with three teams, Ireland, Scotland, and South Africa all in contention to qualify for the knock-out stages, based on this game. One bonus point is all Ireland need to secure a spot at the top of pool B, but a win for Scotland without that precious point for the Irish would see the Men in Green go barrelling out of the competition altogether. The pressure is on for both teams!
The world rankings have Ireland in first and Scotland in fifth, but a 15-point difference in their last head-to-head shows that there is not the gap in quality that some may think.
There is also not too much of a divide between their RWC campaigns: Ireland have won three from three, whilst Scotland have managed what I call a Meat Loaf result - 'Because two out of three ain't bad'. Ireland were able to sweep aside Romania in round one, 82-8 and Tonga in round two, 59-16 before pulling off a courageous win against South Africa, 8-13. The Scots, on the other side of the coin, unfortunately came up short against South Africa, 18-3 before powering on to back-to-back wins against Tonga, 45-17 and against Romania, 84-0.
I believe, with France being in close proximity to the home nations, that there is going to be a lot of travelling rugby fans to witness this electric match, but will we be hearing more of Ireland's call or Flower of Scotland ringing around the stands at the end of 80 minutes? This one is going to be close, but I have to give it to the world number-one team and back Ireland, likely by 15 points again.
My Ireland v Scotland winner prediction: Ireland to win!
✔️ Ireland v Scotland Betting Tips
1️⃣ Match Winner: Ireland to Win
I'm not normally one for shorter odds, but purely because I think this will be an exciting match, I think I would be happy to have a go on Ireland to win at 1.20 at BoyleSports.
2️⃣ Handicap Winner: Ireland to Win (-12.5)
This market will be the real challenge. I think Ireland are going to top the pool with a win of 15 points, so my recommendation would be Ireland to win (-12.5) at 1.95 at Unibet. That also leaves me a bit of leeway of two points. Remember, though, if Scotland win, there is a draw, or Scotland lose by 12 or less, you can kiss goodbye to your bet. For that reason, be sensible about whatever you sake. Always better to gamble responsibly and be safe than sorry.
