Trent Alexander-Arnold left Liverpool to join Champions League rivals Real Madrid. The Reds didn't stay quiet for long, as they broke their transfer record when they splashed out a reported €133.73 million on German wonderkid Florian Wirtz.
With the window wide open and the drama only just beginning, here’s what you need to know about the most striking moves and the major stars who could spark the next big headlines.
💰The Biggest Completed Deals

Premier League rivals Manchester City, Manchester United, Chelsea, and Arsenal have also been busy this summer. City brought in the likes of Rayan Cherki from Ligue 1 side Lyon, Rayan Ait-Nouri, and Tijjani Reijnders. United have been less active than their fans would have hoped, but they have snapped up Matheus Cunha from Wolves for €72.03 million and will look to do more business for their boss Ruben Amorim.
Arsenal, with three successive 2nd-place finishes, have brought in world-class holding midfielder Martin Zubimendi. Chelsea have been active, adding Liam Delap, Joao Pedro, and Jamie Gittens to their squad. Spurs, under their new head coach Thomas Frank, have also spent money, taking West Ham forward Muhamed Kudus to North London for a reported €63.39 million.
❓Who’s Next?
With some big business done, who are we predicting could be the next big moves this transfer season?
While speculation around Viktor Gyokeres and Bryan Mbeumo has made headlines, with moves looking increasingly likely. With their transfers to Arsenal and Manchester United, respectively, looking probable more than possible at this stage, we have decided to leave them off our list.
Below are six players football fans should keep an eye on as the 2025 summer transfer window begins to heat up over the coming weeks.
1️⃣Marcus Rashford
Rashford certainly seems to be one of the players Ruben Amorim would like to shift during this window as he attempts to rebuild the Old Trafford outfit in his image. The England international moved on loan to Aston Villa in January, scoring 4 goals in 17 appearances for Unai Emery’s men. He has maintained a desire to move to a Champions League club, but whether a club of that stature comes in for a player who has scored just 19 goals in 2 seasons at club level remains to be seen.
Possible Destinations: FC Barcelona, Bayern Munich
2️⃣Morgan Gibbs-White
There has already been some controversy around Nottingham Forest star Morgan Gibbs-White this summer. Spurs reportedly bid €69.15 million for the English player and seemed set to seal the former Wolves man for Thomas Frank, only for Forest to pull out over alleged leaks regarding Gibbs-White’s release clause. Spurs aren't backing down easily, so it will be interesting to see if that move develops any further.
Possible Destination: Tottenham Hotspur
3️⃣Ebereche Eze
Crystal Palace’s talisman is without doubt a transfer target for some big clubs. Eze was an integral part of Oliver Glasner’s team as they won the FA Cup last season. He also contributed 8 goals and 8 assists in their Premier League campaign. His ball-carrying ability would suit Manchester United, while North London rivals Arsenal and Spurs are known to be very keen.
Possible Destinations: Arsenal, Tottenham Hotspur, Manchester United, Bayern Munich
Once tipped as Brighton’s next superstar, Ferguson’s progress has stalled over the last 12 months.
4️⃣Marc Guehi
The Crystal Palace captain is a wanted man this summer. Guehi is entering the final year of his contract at Selhurst Park, so Palace may look to cash in on him, instead of allowing him to leave for free next summer. Liverpool have been linked with the England international, as have Newcastle and Spurs. A move to Newcastle would make sense given their desire for a right-footed centre half, while Spurs could move for him if they lose Cristian Romero.
Possible Destinations: Liverpool, Tottenham Hotspur, Chelsea, Newcastle United
5️⃣Alejandro Garnacho
The Manchester United winger does not appear to be a favourite of United boss Ruben Amorim. The new manager isn't convinced that Alejandro fits his playing style, given his comments after the Europa League defeat. Alejandro's talent is unquestionable, and a move away seems to be the best option for both parties. Four-time Serie A champions Napoli have long been linked with the Argentina international, while Chelsea have also been mentioned as a possible destination.
Possible Destinations: Napoli, Chelsea
6️⃣Evan Ferguson
An Irish angle to the transfer window is most definitely Evan Ferguson. Ferguson’s career at Brighton has certainly stalled over the last 12 months, and a move away is imminent. Roma and Atalanta are very keen to bring the forward to Italy, and perhaps Ferguson can look to Irish teammate Troy Parrott for inspiration if he decides on a move abroad to rebuild his career.
Possible Destinations: AS Roma, Atalanta BC
