Meet the Stars: 2025 Gaelic Football Team of the Year

The 2025 All-Ireland Football Championship is done and dusted, with Kerry once again the proud holders of the Sam Maguire after demolishing a lacklustre Donegal side in the final.
After a thrilling season packed with epic matchups and stellar individual displays, narrowing down a Gaelic Football Team of the Year was no easy task. Still, we've given it a go. Here’s our official 2025 Gaelic Football Team of the Year.
2025 Team of the Year

Here is the 2025 Team of the Year: players whose contribution to the game is remarkable and noteworthy:
Shane Ryan (Kerry)
The Kerry keeper fully deserves his spot on the team despite fierce competition from Niall Morgan, Rory Beggan, and Shaun Patton. His ability to quickly restart play with both feet makes him an invaluable asset to Kerry.
Finbar Roarty (Donegal)
A frontrunner for Young Player of the Year, Roarty has been a revelation for Donegal. Despite struggling in the final, the line-breaking corner back, just 19 years old, has a bright future ahead.
Seán Rafferty (Meath)
In Meath’s outstanding season, Rafferty’s performances at full back evoked memories of legends like Mick Lyons and Darren Fay. A reliable man-marker, he also chipped in with key scores during his debut senior year.
Ciaran Caulfield (Meath)
We couldn’t leave this Meath star out. While technically out of position at corner back, Caulfield’s performances justified his selection, especially to make room for Gavin White further up the pitch.
Brían Ó Beaglaoich (Kerry)
Ó Beaglaoich had arguably his best year in a Kerry jersey. A key player in transitions, he combines defensive resilience with explosive attacking pace.
Mike Breen (Kerry)
A true lynchpin in Kerry’s defence, Breen’s vision and ball progression played a central role in his team’s successful campaign.
Gavin White (Kerry)
The 2025 All-Ireland Final Man of the Match opened the game with a trademark burst and point. He finished with 0-03 and was instrumental as Kerry lifted Sam Maguire under his captaincy.
Joe O’Connor (Kerry)
The Austin Stacks midfielder enjoyed a breakout year with exceptional fielding and lung-busting runs that contributed key scores throughout the Championship.
Michael Langan (Donegal)
Langan continued his rise with another strong campaign. A reliable fielder and scorer, he nailed a vital goal against Monaghan during Donegal’s dramatic quarterfinal comeback.
Paudie Clifford (Kerry)
Much of Kerry’s offence flowed through Clifford. After battling early injuries, he was unstoppable from the quarterfinals onward, dazzling Donegal in the final with his creativity and vision.
Seán O’Shea (Kerry)
Despite injury struggles, O’Shea’s performance against Armagh in the quarterfinal, where he posted 0-12, was enough to secure his spot. A deadly forward when fit.
Oisín Conaty (Armagh)
While Armagh’s campaign ended meekly, 2024 Young Player of the Year Conaty held his head high. He impressed throughout, including a 0-06-point haul in the Ulster Final.
David Clifford (Kerry)
Simply the best. Clifford delivered a mesmerising final performance, scoring 0-09 from play and finishing the year with 8-62 (8-48 from play). A sixth All-Star and third Footballer of the Year award surely awaits.
Michael Murphy (Donegal)
The modern great made a triumphant return to inter-county football in 2025. Despite a two-year hiatus, Murphy racked up 0-52 and inspired Donegal. Fans are already wondering: Will he return in 2026?
Jordan Morris (Meath)
The final name on our list, Morris was vital in Meath’s journey to the semi-finals. His standout moment was scoring 1-06 against Galway—a feat made more remarkable as he was returning from an ACL injury.
