Match prediction 8 of 15 of our Six Nations betting series.
Round three of the Six Nations 2023 will see Wales host England at the Principality Stadium on Saturday, the 25th of February. The Wales vs England match is always a spectacle. The rivalry between these two teams is immense, and neither side will want to settle for defeat on Saturday. Who do I think will win this clash of the new Head Coaches?
Mathieu Raynal from France will be the man officiating the game. He is a regular for the Top 14 in France and also happens to be on the referee panel for World Rugby.
Let's take a look at how this one may play out. As ever, I will include the bookies' odds from the best rugby betting sites in Ireland.

🐉 Wales Overview
✔️ Wales Form
⏪ Wales Six Nations 2022 Form
Former Head Coach, Wayne Pivac won no plaudits for Wales's fifth-place in last year's competition. There were few highlights of which to speak, and the Welsh were even able to gift a curse-breaking win to Italy's Six Nations losing streak. On last year's form, I don't think rugby fans may have much faith for a fantastic performance from the home side.
▶️ Wales Six Nations 2023 Form
New old man, Warren Gatland had a lot of Welsh faith entrusted to him when he was reappointed to the top job, but a 10-34 thrashing from Ireland wasn't the solidifying start to his second tenure for which the Kiwi would have hoped. Given the Irish are the team in the world to beat, however, it was always going to be a rough opening clash.
Having said that, Wales expected a lot more from their week two match against Scotland - especially given the comments from Dan Biggar - but suffered another shameful loss, being picked apart by Gregor Townsend's men, 35-7. With two defeats and absolutely no points in the standings, the Men in Red don't look to have much of a chance this round.

✔️ England Recent Form
⏪ England Six Nations 2022 Form
England were far from their glory days under Eddie Jones's leadership last year, claiming only a third-place finish overall. Of the two wins from five that the English were able to scrape, however, one was against their adversaries this time around. With that in mind, the Men in White and Red may look the most likely to come away with smiles after 80 minutes of this Wales vs England test.
▶️ England Six Nations 2023 Form
As was the case with Wales, England rugby fans were excited to see what their new Head Coach could produce in their opening match against Scotland. Sadly, the answer to that was not a lot. In front of a packed home crowd, the Steve Borthwick era started with the Calcutta Cup being lost, 23-29.
Week two showed more promise with England vs Italy, the home side able to grab the W, 31-14, in front of jubilant Twickenham fans. One win for England compared to Wales's big fat zero may mean that recent form favours the English to add to their Six Nations 2023 claim.

This is going to be the closest match of week three, and it will be a gigantic struggle for both teams. Wales will want to get back on track after their dismal performances against Ireland and Scotland, but England will still have to dig deep and keep composed - they will not be able to fall asleep for 20 minutes, as they did against Italy, and still manage to come away with victory. Having said all of that, I think England seem the most to be the team with the plan, so I am predicting England to be the winners of this contest by five points.
Prediction for the Wales vs England winner? England to win.
💶 Wales vs England Six Nations Betting Tips
Given that I expect this to be a close encounter, I would argue that odds of England to win at 1.46 are somewhat stingy. I, personally, would consider going for the handicap bet of England to win (-3.5 points) at 1.69. I think the slightly longer odds are more interesting, although there is also a greater risk involved.
