The four provincial Gaelic football championships have been played and we now know the 16 teams that will take part in the All-Ireland Senior Football Championship group stage. There are four groups of four with each team playing each other once - the top team will advance to the Quarter-Finals, while the eight teams that finish in second and third will qualify for the preliminary Quarter-Finals. In Round One of Group 4, Kerry will take on Monaghan at the Fitzgerald Stadium at 15:00 GMT, and below you can find who I think will win this opening match.
🏆 Kerry vs Monaghan: Who Will Win?
Kerry enter the 2024 All-Ireland Senior Football Championship as one of the favourites to lift the Sam Maguire Cup, having won the Munster Senior Football Championship for the fourth year running, while finishing third in Division 1 of the 2024 National Football League (NFL). They beat Clare 0-23 to 1-13 in the MSFC final, which is an impressive score in itself, but fans of The Kingdom will be worried about the fact that they have not scored a goal in three consecutive matches. However, they will always remain a tough team to beat when they can call upon the likes of Sean O'Shea, Paudie Clifford, and David Clifford.
Monaghan qualified for the Group Stage of the All-Ireland SFC as one of the seven highest-ranked teams from the National Football League, but they have little chance of winning. They finished at the bottom of Division 1 in the NFL with just one win from their seven matches, conceding a staggering 148 points in the process. Then, in the 2024 Ulster Senior Football Championship, they were knocked out in the Preliminary Round after suffering a six-point defeat to Cavan.
There is a big gulf in class between these two teams and Kerry will fancy getting their All-Ireland Senior Football Championship off to a winning start. For me, there is only one winner in this match, and that is Kerry. I do not even see it being a close contest in all honesty.
My Prediction: 🏆Kerry to win!
💯 Kerry vs Monaghan All-Ireland SFC Match Odds
As usual, the top Irish sports betting sites will offer some different markets for this Kerry vs Monaghan game such as the match winner, the first team to score, the winning margin, and the team that will be winning at half-time. However, since the match winner market is the most popular among Irish Gaelic football bettors, it is what I am going to be focusing on.
🏅Kerry vs Monaghan: Match Winner
As you can tell from the odds below, even the best betting sites believe that this will end up being like a walk in a proverbial park for Kerry. You might be tempted by the longer odds for a Monaghan win, but betting on them to come out on top will be like flushing your money down the toilet.

Kerry vs Monaghan - Betting Tips
Whenever you are thinking about betting on a sporting event, whether you are using your own hard-earned money or a free bet, the key thing that you need to do is to identify the value bets. Below I am going to give you some top betting tips for this Kerry vs Monaghan match:
- Tip 1: Back Kerry to win in an acca: For me, despite their profligacy in front of goal in recent matches, Kerry will win this match. Putting a single bet on The Kingdom to be victorious really is not worth it as their odds are so short, but you might want to add a Kerry win to an accumulator in order to fluff up the odds a little. There is no player from Monaghan that I would have in the Kerry team, which leads me to think it should be a comfortable enough win. If you want to add a Kerry win to an accy, then BoyleSports are offering odds of 1.13 at present
- Tip 2: Give Kerry a -7-point handicap: Kerry should win this match with some points to spare as they have better players than their opponents and are in better form. I would be tempted to give Kerry a seven-point handicap ahead of this match as I feel that they have more than enough quality at their disposal to overcome this type of handicap. These two teams last played on the 4th of February and won by nine points. If you want to increase Kerry's odds of winning by giving them a seven-point disadvantage before kick-off, then you can find odds of 2.00 at BoyleSports.
- Tip 3: Bet on Monaghan to score first: The Kingdom do not always get off to the best of starts but warm up and show us their skills as they click into gear. Therefore, I think there is good value in betting on Monaghan catching their opponents cold and getting on the scoresheet first. It will not do much to change the final outcome of the match, but at least they will have something to show for their efforts. Those who want to back Monaghan to score first will be able to find odds of 2.55 at LeoVegas Sports.
N.B. Make sure to always gamble responsibly by setting yourself a budget and sticking to it. Never chase any losses. Stop when you are no longer having fun.
1️⃣ Kerry Update
Kerry might not have been playing at the best of their ability in recent matches, but it is not like they have been diabolical. They have failed to score in four of their previous five matches, but they are still managing to rack up points and win, which is all that matters. I do not doubt that the goals will soon start to flow, and they will show us just why they are one of the favourites to win the 2024 All-Ireland Senior Football Championship.
Below you can see their previous five results in all competitions:

---|---|
Clare 1-13 Kerry 0-23 | 05.05.24 Munster Senior Football Championship |
Kerry 0-18 Cork 1-12 | 20.04.24 Munster Senior Football Championship |

Roscommon 1-11 Kerry 1-17 | 17.03.24 Allianz Football League Roinn 1 |
Kerry 0-18 Tyrone 1-11 | 03.03.24 Allianz Football League Roinn 1 |
2️⃣ Monaghan Update
Monaghan's form has deserted them in recent months, which is one of the reasons why you will find odds as long as 126.00 for them to go on and lift the 2024 All-Ireland SFC title. They have made it to the final just once in their history, which was way back in 1930, and it is very hard to see them breaking their duck this time around. They concede too many goals, which gives them an uphill task to win a match.
Below you can see for yourself how they have performed in their five most recent matches:

---|---|
Monaghan 1-12 Cavan 3-12 | 05.05.24 Ulster Senior Football Championship |
