In our Donegal v Cork prediction below, we will break down who we think will come out on top in Ballybofey, the latest odds ahead of the match and everything else you need to know as we look forward to another great weekend of Gaelic Football action.
🔮Donegal vs Cork Prediction
The stakes are high when Donegal face off against Cork in Ballybofey on June 13th. A win for either team and they go straight through to the All-Ireland SFC quarter-finals, while the loser will have a second chance in Round 3. Donegal’s momentum after their win against Kerry and the strength of their squad means our Donegal v Cork All-Ireland SFC prediction is a win for Jim McGuinness and his Donegal team.
Donegal go into the match as strong favourites and deservedly so too. That win over Kerry cemented their place as many people’s pick to win the All-Ireland while also showing that their Down performance may have been a one-off. Their transition game makes them one of the most feared teams around, with the pace and power of their runners from deep a superb attacking outlet for McGuinness’ team. They also have a forward line that can score heavily, with Oisin Gallen and Michael Langan coming to the fore against Kerry, hitting 0-10 points between them.
Their defensive game and kick-out domination can also allow them to strangle their opponents, making them a very difficult challenge for John Cleary’s Cork team. Cork showed tremendous spirit and class to turn around their Round 1 meeting with Meath but face an altogether different challenge when they head to Ballybofey.
If Cork allow Donegal to control the tempo and dominate the midfield area, they will struggle to get their pacey runners breaking forward and penetrating the Donegal defence. They will also face challenges getting their scoring forwards like Steven Sherlock and Chris Óg Jones on the ball if they can’t contain Donegal’s power and pace. If they can get some early scores and start quickly, they may trouble Donegal, but the wave of momentum that Donegal have now and their home form in Ballybofey mean it may be a step too far for Cork.

⚡Donegal vs Cork Betting Tips

Remember, before betting on this match or any game throughout the championship, why not first check out our bookmaker reviews page? Here, extra information about many of our best betting sites can be found.
- Tip 1: Donegal to Win: It’s hard not to fancy Donegal to claim victory when they meet Cork on June 13th. The confidence and momentum that they will carry into the game after their great win over Kerry will surely spur Jim McGuinness and his team onto another win in this year’s All-Ireland series.
To back Donegal to win, you can currently get a price of 1.14 with BoyleSports.
- Tip 2: Back Donegal HT/FT In front of their home fans, we expect Donegal to attempt to come out strong against Cork and quash any thoughts the rebels may have of causing an upset. The power and pace that Donegal are capable of playing with can lead to fast starts if they can get on top around the middle third, and we think they will be able to do that. If they do, they should be capable of building an early lead and keeping Cork at arm’s length for the rest of the match. To back Donegal HT/FT, you can get a price of 1.29 with BoyleSports.
- Tip 3: Donegal -7 handicap betting: As we have said, it is difficult to expect anything else other than a comfortable win for Donegal against Cork. That Down loss they suffered in the Ulster Championship should prepare them against any complacency they may feel, and we think that they are going to send out another strong signal of their title credentials on June 13th.
We believe a strong Donegal win is on the cards, and if you agree, you can currently back Donegal -7 at a price of 1.91 with BoyleSports ahead of the match.
✨ Donegal Squad Form
There was so much build-up and intrigue heading into Donegal’s Round 1 meeting with Kerry after their clashes in the 2025 All-Ireland final and the 2026 National League final. Much like the league final, this turned into something of a procession for Jim McGuinness’ Donegal team as they ran out easy 10-point winners after an ill-tempered meeting in Killarney.
The fact that Micheál Burns was red-carded before the start of the 2nd half for his part in the melee which closed the opening half played its part, but so too did great performances from the likes of Michael Langan, Oisín Gallen and Finbar Roarty. Roarty in particular did such a good job in marking Paudie Clifford that the man who did so much creative damage in that All-Ireland final clash had to be replaced early in the 2nd half.
🥇 Cork Squad Form
Cork showed tremendous fight and no little class in turning around an eight-point deficit at half-time against Meath in their Round 1 clash to beat the Royals by three points in the end. Cork were disappointed by their Munster final defeat to Kerry, in which they tamely surrendered in the second half, but they did anything but that during the second 35 minutes against Meath.
Even with the loss of Colm O’Callaghan to a red card with 19 minutes to go, John Cleary’s men, led by a brilliant display from Steven Sherlock, who hit 14 points, still had too much for their Leinster rivals. David Buckley made his first championship start against Meath and contributed 3 points.
🎈 Donegal vs Cork Predicted Lineups
Donegal and Cork had great wins in their Round 1 clashes, with Donegal dismantling defending All-Ireland champions Kerry in Killarney on May 23rd and Cork fighting back to beat Meath that same day. Below are the two teams both teams started with in those great wins in Round 1.
