Now that the provincial Gaelic football championships have finished, we now know the 16 teams that will be participating in the Group Stage of the All-Ireland Senior Football Championship. Each team will play three matches in their group, with the top three teams advancing to the next stages of the tournament. In the first round of Group 3, Clare will take on Cork at Cusack Park with a kick-off time of 18:00 GMT. In the following prediction, I will tell you who I think will go on and get their campaign off to a winning start.
🏆 Clare vs Cork: Who Will Win?
Clare enter the 2024 All-Ireland Senior Football Championships as one of the big underdogs as only Westmeath are considered to have a lower chance of going on to win the title. Clare, to be fair to them, have improved in recent years as can be seen by the fact that they made it to the final of the 2023 and 2024 Munster Senior Football Championship, losing both times. However, the All-Ireland SFC is a big step up. They will be disappointed about failing to earn promotion to Division Two of the National Football League (NFL), with defeats to Westmeath and Down costing them dearly.
Cork are also not given much hope of winning the All-Ireland SFC this year, but the team from Munster is still predicted to do better than their opponents. They were knocked out in the Semi-Finals of the Munster SFC by Kerry, who went on to beat Clare in the final by seven points. Cork are in Division 2 of the NFL, but they failed to get promoted at the end of March, winning three, drawing one, and losing three of their seven matches. Their form has been a little bit patchy this season, to say the least.
Patchy form or not, I am going to back them to beat Clare in their first match of Group 3. Why am I backing Cork to win? Well, I feel that they have better players at their disposal such as Chris Og Jones, Brian Hurley, and Conor Corbett. Furthermore, they play in a higher division, so they will have beaten better opposition than Clare this season. I wish I could say that I think it will be a close match as these are more entertaining, but I do not think it will be in the end.
My Prediction: 🏆Cork to win!
💯 Clare vs Cork All-Ireland SFC Match Odds

I am going to provide you with the match winner odds since I know that this is the market that many Gaelic football bettors like to focus on.
🏅Clare vs Cork: Match Winner
As can be seen from the odds table below, the best betting sites for Gaelic football betting feel that Cork have a very high chance of winning this match. I know that the odds for a Clare win will seem more enticing, but it is important to bet with your head and not with your heart.

Clare vs Cork - Betting Tips
When you want to bet on any type of sporting bet, whether you are going to be using your own hard-earned cash or some free bets, you need to always try and find true value so that you can get the best bang for your euro. I am going to try and help you out here by giving you three GAA football betting tips for this Clare vs Cork match.
- Tip 1: Bet on Cork in an accumulator: Cork should win this match based on the fact that their players are of better quality and are used to playing at a higher level. No disrespect to Clare, but Cork would need to have a monumental off day to lose this one - they have a nice blend of scorers, speedsters, and workers across the field. Betting on Cork to win is not that enticing though as their odds are very short, so it is worth considering adding a Cork win to a Gaelic Football accumulator. If you want to do this, then BoyleSports are currently offering odds of 1.40 for a Cork win.
- Tip 2: Back Chris Og Jones to score a goal at anytime: Brian Hurley was Cork's top scorer in the NFL, scoring a total of 24 points, but Jones was the player who stood out for me as he scored an impressive 2-15 in seven games. He is like a fine wine that is getting better with age and he will be one of the main threats that Clare will have to try and smother. If you want to back him to score a goal, then you can find odds of 2.75 at BoyleSports.
- Tip 3: Give Cork a -3-point handicap: The last three games that Cork have won they have done so by more than three points, and the teams that they beat are better than Clare. The bookmakers are never usually far off with their odds and the short odds for a Cork win tells us that they think it will be a comfortable win for the away team. Thus, I think there is value in giving Cork a three-point disadvantage at kick-off. If you think so too, 888Sport are offering 888-Sport[odds of 1.91]* at present.
N.B. Make sure that you always gamble responsibly. You can do this by setting a budget and making sure that you stick to it. Also consider setting up daily, weekly, and monthly deposit limits.
1️⃣ Clare Update
Clare have improved on their defensive capabilities this year and have made themselves hard to score goals against. They were in Division 2 of the National Football League last year but got relegated as they were conceding points for fun - they won just the two matches.
One could argue that they are playing lesser opposition this year, but I have still been quite impressed at their improved defensive capabilities. Since the beginning of February, only Down have managed to score more than one goal against them - in their last eight games, they have conceded just six goals and have scored nine.
Below you can see their previous five match results in all competitions:

Waterford1-9 Clare 2-20 | 20.04.24 Munster Senior Football Championship |

Limerick 0-14 Clare 1-16 | 02.03.24 Allianz Football League Roinn 3 |
2️⃣ Cork Update
Cork have not had the type of season that they would have been hoping for - they failed to finish in the top two of Division 2 in the National Football League to earn themselves to promotion to Division 1. From the seven matches that they played, they won three, drew one, and lost two.
They did pick up a creditable draw against Armagh, who lost to Donegal in the final by just a solitary point and also gave Kerry, one of the favourites, a run for their money in their last outing. Although they have lost more than they would have liked this year, they have shown glimpses of the quality that we know they have in their ranks. If they want to go deep in the 2024 All-Ireland Senior Football Championship, they will need to sure their defence up a little, but they should have enough firepower to get past Clare.
Below you can see their last five results:
