Meath welcome Cork to Pairc Tailteann as both sides begin their All Ireland SFC 2025 group stage campaigns on May 24th. Throw-in for the Group 2 game is at 15:00 with Noel Mooney scheduled to be the man in the middle. Unfortunately for those wondering about what TV channel Meath v Cork is on, the only way to watch the game live will be to head to Navan.
Meath go into the match off the back of losing the 2025 Leinster Final to local rivals Louth, while Cork will play their first game since their heartbreaking extra-time defeat to Kerry in their Munster semi-final on April 19th. This preview will cover the latest betting odds as well as some betting tips ahead of the match.
🏆 Meath v Cork Prediction
Both sides head into this clash off the back of defeats in their last outings, Meath against Louth in the Leinster Final and Cork to Kerry in Munster. Both will have been extremely disappointed with those outcomes, but Cork really impressed many with their performance in Pairc Ui Chaoimh against the Kingdom, and if they can produce something similar in Navan, they will feel confident of picking up the two points on offer.
We share that sentiment and feel Cork can head to Navan and pick up the win to put them in a good position to get out of a group that also contains Kerry and Roscommon. John Cleary’s Cork side put themselves in a great position to beat Kerry the last day out, with a harsh red card and some wayward shooting in extra time proving a stumbling block for the Rebels. If they play the kind of football that saw them overturn 7-point deficits on a couple of occasions, however, they could prove hard to beat for a Meath side that might be still down after that Leinster Final defeat.
Robbie Brennan’s men went into that Final full of confidence after ending Dublin’s 14-year dominance over Leinster but could not live with Louth’s 2nd half surge to halt the Wee County’s march to their first Leinster in 68 years. Worryingly for Meath, they were only able to score 1-1 after the 47th minute of play, as Louth used their smarts and class to grab control of the match. Meath were unable to do anything to wrestle control back, and that might be a worry for Royal County fans as we enter the group stages.
Home advantage may come into play for Meath, but Cork showed enough against Kerry to suggest they can handle going to Navan, so our prediction ahead of this match is a Cork win.

✔️ Meath v Cork Betting Tips
We are now going to highlight for you some betting tips that might prove useful for those that want to have a bet on the Group 2 clash.
- Tip 1: Meath to Win: Meath played Cork earlier in the year in Division 2 of the National Football League, with Cork running out 2-19 – 0-21 winners, and we wouldn’t be surprised if the outcome is something similar when they face off in Navan. Both sides are capable of rattling up big scores, and weather dependent, hopefully we get to see both sets of forwards let loose in Pairc Tailteann. Cork just seem to be a little bit ahead of Meath, and we expect them to come away from their trip to Meath with the spoils. If you agree, you can get a *goto lunubet-sports [price of 1.94 with Lunubet] * on Cork taking the 2 points on offer.
- Tip 2: Chris Óg Jones to Score a Goal anytime: Chris Óg Jones hit 1-03 against Kerry in the Munster semi-final to show his form as we enter the group stages of the All-Ireland SFC. He also hit 1-04 against Meath in their League clash earlier in the year, 1 of 5 goals he scored during his county’s League campaign. It will hopefully be a high-scoring affair when the two sides meet, and if we see any goals for Cork, expect the corner forward to be in the thick of it.
- Tip 3: Meath H/T Cork F/T : Meath have led at half time in 3 out of their 4 matches so far in this year’s Championship, so it would not be a big surprise to see them leading Cork as the half time whistle blows in Navan. The 2nd half against Louth will be a huge worry for Meath fans and management, as when the game was there to be won, they were unable to do so. Cork, on the other hand, roared into their game with Kerry in the 2nd half, and if they are in the game by the second 35 minutes against Meath, the confidence of going toe to toe with Kerry should stand them in good stead. To back Meath to lead at half time and Cork to win at full time, you can get a *goto directionbet-sport [price of 5.25 with DirectionBet] *.
⚽ Meath Squad Form
Meath may well still be smarting from the 3-14 - 1-18 Leinster Final loss to Louth, which will have hurt Robbie Brennan’s team as they move on to this match with Cork. Meath had produced a performance for the ages to beat Dublin in the Championship for the first time since 2010 but could not back it up in Croke Park on May 11th. Their poor end to the match will be a concern to Meath, as Louth’s big players, as opposed to Meath’s, came to the fore.
They have produced good football in the Championship to date, though, and will look to the likes of Matthew Costelloe, Brian Menton, Donal Keogan, Eoghan Frayne and the returning Jordan Morris to kick them to victory over Cork.
⚽ Cork Squad Form
Cork may have lost the Munster semi-final in extra time to Kerry, but there were certainly plenty of positives the Cork management team could take from the match. They hit 1-25, a very respectable tally, and showed great fighting qualities to come back from big deficits on a couple of occasions. They also had many people’s All-Ireland favourites bang in trouble near the end of normal time and in extra time as they went after Kerry and attacked ferociously.
Chris Óg Jones, Sean McDonnell, Ian Maguire and Brian O’Driscoll really stepped up for John Cleary, among others, and if they can bring that relentless pressure to Navan, they will be confident of the win.
