Louth take on Cork on Sunday 23rd June at 15:00 GMT in the preliminary Quarter Finals of the All-Ireland SFC championship. Louth have home advantage as they finished 2nd in their group whereas Cork finished 3rd. As Louth currently have no home venue the match will take place in a venue of their choice in Grattan Park, Inniskeen in county Monaghan where they played their home group game and were victorious versus Meath. The match will be refereed by Cavan man Noel Mooney. The match will be available to watch worldwide on GAA Go. This is a knockout match and the losing team of this match will see their championship season end.
This match is an intriguing one and is probably the most fascinating of all the preliminary Quarter final as many people would not have expected at the start of the year that either of these sides would make it to the ‘All Ireland’ Quarter final. Both sides have had a strong championship to this point. Louth beat Meath and drew with Monaghan and finished the group stage with a defeat against one of the All Ireland favourites Kerry. Cork were victorious over Clare and Donegal before losing their final group game to Tyrone. They finished level on points with Tyrone and Donegal but finished in 3rd place because they had an inferior score difference.
🏆 Louth vs Cork Prediction All Ireland SFC
Louth and Cork is a very interesting matchup this weekend as one of these sides will make it to the All Ireland Quarter final. These two sides have met on multiple occasions in the league the last few seasons in division 2. The sides met in round 2 of the Allianz league back in February. Louth were victorious by 2 points on a scoreline of 2-9 to 0-13 in Ardee, county Louth. Last year they met in round 6 of the Allianz national league. Once again Louth were victorious on a scoreline of 1-10 to 0-10. They met again in the group stages of the 2023 All Ireland.
Cork were victorious on this occasion on a scoreline of 1-19 to 1-17. Louth have been victorious in their last 2 league games with Cork but Cork were the one’s victorious in their last championship meeting. Both sides have been surprise packages in the championship this season with Cork beating Ulster champions Donegal and Louth pushing Dublin all the way in the Leinster final. I am picking Cork for this one because they have slightly more momentum. They have won 2 of their last 3 championship games whereas Louth have 1 victory, 1 draw and a defeat in their last 3 championship games.
Verdict: Cork to Win
🔎 Louth vs Cork Performance Analysis
With regards to performance analysis the statistics for both these teams in their last meeting with each other back in February show room for improvement. The statistics that are most notable are the turnovers lost which is possession lost either in the tackle or through an error and also shot efficiency which is the percentage of scores per shots taken. In February Louth had 22 turnovers lost and scored from 11 out of 22 shots which is an efficiency of 50%. Of these 22 shots 16 were from play, they scored 6 of these which is a shot efficiency of 37%. Cork had 21 turnovers lost and scored 13 out of 29 shots which is an efficiency of 44%. 21 of these shots were from play and 13 were scored which is an efficiency of 38%. Both sides will need to limit their turnovers and be more clinical in front of goal, especially from play.

✔️ Louth vs Cork Betting Tips
Louth and Cork is an intriguing prospect and here are some tips if you are unsure how the game will transpire.
Tip 1: Cork to Win
Cork come into this game versus Louth with slightly more momentum. They have won 2 of their last 3 championship games, including an impressive victory of Ulster champions Donegal, where they scored 3-9. Louth have failed to win in their last two games, drawing with Monaghan where they relied on a late equaliser and also they were hammered by Kerry last time out, losing on a scoreline of 2-21 to 1-10, although with Kerry’s scoring power at the moment that could have happened to a lot of teams in the country. Louth will be pleased to have made it to the preliminary quarter final and would have taken this at the start of the year, showing continued progression over the last number of years. Cork would have been disappointed with their league campaign but since the championship has begun they have looked a much stronger team and a team who are starting to live up to their high potential. They put in a good performance in defeat in the Munster semi final to Kerry and started their group stage with wins versus Clare and Donegal to book their place in the preliminary quarter final and only missed out on going straight through to the All Ireland Quarter final on score difference. Cork look much improved than recent years and Louth may have stumbled a bit after a great start to the championship, failing to win their last two and may be reeling after their big defeat to Kerry last weekend. The best odds for Cork to win can be found at Directionbet with a price of 1.56.
Tip 2: Cork margin of victory 1 to 3 points
This one is an interesting tip because if we look at the previous meetings between Louth and Cork a pattern develops. In the last year these two teams have faced each other 3 times, both in the league and championship, meeting twice in the league in 2023 and 2024 and meeting in the All Ireland group stages in 2023. All 3 of these games have been close games. Louth won earlier in the year in the league by 2 points, on a scoreline of 2-9 to 0-13. Louth were also victorious in the league last year by 3 points on a scoreline of 1-10 to 0-10. Cork were victorious in the championship last year by 2 points on a scoreline of 1-19 to 1-17. It is hard to split these two teams anytime they play each other and this could be and should be the case on Sunday. Cork have beaten Louth in the championship in the last year but have struggled to get over the line against them in the league. This could be due to the colder and wet conditions associated with league football suiting Louth’s defensive style whereas the more summer conditions of championship football suit Cork’s attacking style. This will be tight again as it tends to be between these two teams, but I think Cork will edge it in the championship just like last year. If you have a free bets, a margin of victory for Cork of 1 to 3 points could be fruitful because of the reasons above. This can be found on BoyleSports at a price of 4.00.
Tip 3: Sam Mulroy to score a goal anytime
Sam Mulroy has been Louth’s star man for a number of years now, and whichever Cork defender or maybe even defenders that is tasked with marking the Louth forward on Sunday will be in for a long afternoon. He carries Louth in some games, being their main score threat, and in any game he is on form in, Louth has a chance of winning. The last 3 meetings between Louth and Cork have been close games, but each of them has resulted in the same thing: Louth scoring a goal. They scored 2 goals in the league game back in February, 1 goal in the league game in 2023 and 1 goal in the championship game in 2023. This indicates that Louth will find the back of the net again on Sunday, and who better to get that than their star man Sam Mulroy. The odds for Sam Mulroy to score a goal anytime are 3.40 on BoyleSports.
