The top spot in Group 1 will be determined when Galway take on Armagh in the neutral venue of Markievicz Park, in Sligo. The match takes place on Sunday 16th June at 1:45pm and will be live on RTE 2 for Irish viewers and GAA Go for those outside Ireland. The two teams come into the game with a 100% record in the group and with their qualification of the group secured. This match will determine which of these two teams finish 1st and which of these two teams finish 2nd. Finishing 1st will put either team straight into the Quarter finals of the All-Ireland Championship while a 2nd place spot would mean the team would face a preliminary Quarter Final in the ‘All Ireland’ and have to face a 3rd place team from a different group. Armagh were very impressive in their victory away to Derry last time out whereas Galway struggled against Westmeath, eventually getting over the line having trailed for a lot of the second half.
🏆 Galway vs Armagh All Ireland Championship Prediction
This match is expected to be a tight one with both sides having 100% records in the All Ireland group phase. Both sides are guaranteed to qualify out of the group and this could lead to people thinking that both sides will take their foot of the gas and just see what happens in the game, not being too pushed about the result. I believe the opposite will transpire. Both sides know a win puts them straight through to the Quarter Finals of the All Ireland instead of having to play a preliminary Quarter final if they finish 2nd. This is important to the teams for two reasons. Finishing 1st gives them an extra long break as they will not have to play an extra match so can rest after a gruelling championship to this point. As well as that finishing 1st means they will avoid the other first place teams in the Quarter Final, which could potentially be title favourites Dublin and Kerry, so the incentives are there for both these sides on Sunday June 16th.
Galway were winners of the Connacht Championship but narrowly won their semi final versus Sligo and final versus Mayo before beating 14 man Derry and struggling to victory versus Westmeath. Armagh made it to the Ulster Final suffering heartbreak on penalties versus Donegal but responded with a 5 point victory versus Westmeath constantly keeping them at arm's length, and a brilliant performance versus Derry.
🔎 Galway vs Armagh Performance Analysis
With regards to performance analysis, there are a few stats that need to be pointed out when looking at these two teams and they could have a major impact on the outcome of the game. The stats I want to look at are Turnovers Lost (how many times a team lost possession) and Shot efficiency (Shots taken and how many scores came from them). Against Derry, Armagh had 16 Turnovers Lost compared to Derry’s 20. In total Armagh had 30 shots, scoring from 20 of these, a shot efficiency of 66%. In the Connacht final against Mayo, against opposition of similar calibre to Armagh, Galway had 18 turnover lost which was more than Mayo’s 16. Galway took 23 shots in that game scoring 16 a shot efficiency of 69%.
💯 Galway vs Armagh All Ireland Championship Odds
The odds for this one slightly favour Armagh, probably due to the nature of both teams' victories last time out. Galway struggled to get past Westmeath even going from the 31st minute until the 50 th minute without scoring. They eventually ran out winners on a scoreline of 1-12 to 0-11 in a game that was not expected to be as close as it was. Armagh were tactically brilliant versus Derry, showing Derry’s weaknesses tenfold scoring 2 first half goals and providing a 3rd in the second half to run out comfortable winners by 11 points on a scoreline of 3-17 to 0-15. They had starman Rian O’Neill back providing 1-1 to help Armagh on their way. Armagh are a dark horse for many in this year's championship but if they were to be victorious versus Galway and top the group they would become genuine contenders for the All Ireland Championship crown. Armagh are the favourites for this one and this can be seen on the best Irish betting sites.

✔️ Galway vs Armagh Betting Tips
Galway and Armagh is a tough one to call. If you're unsure how the game will unfold or need ideas on how to use your free bets, here are some tips to consider:
Tip 1: Armagh to Win
Armagh come into the game off a very strong performance versus Ulster rivals Derry. Armagh were quick on the counter attack and Derry were unable to live with the quick and dynamic interplay. They showed a ruthlessness against Derry scoring 3 goals along with their 17 points and they may have very well hit the back of the net a few more times had they made the correct decision in possession. They limited turnovers especially in the first half where Derry had double the turnovers of Armagh, 12 to 6. Overall it was a brilliant performance by Armagh and they should be full of confidence heading into this top of the table bout with Galway. Galway on the other hand were lacklustre versus Westmeath and were behind for much of the second half. There was a very good chance that the shock of the championship so far was going to happen last time out and Westmeath were going to beat the newly crowned Connacht champions. This did not transpire but it was a huge scare for Galway who needed a Shane Walsh goal to take the lead 5 minutes from time, a lead that they would hold onto, coming out 4 point winners on a score of 1-12 to 0-11. Injuries may have been a factor for this uninspiring performance by Galway with Robert Finnert, Damien Comer and captain Sean Kelly all missing last time, and if their injuries remain this could be a difficult task for Galway. I am tipping Armagh to win this one and finish top of the group as a result. The best price for an Armagh win can be seen on BoyleSports where they are priced at 1.73.
Tip 2: Armagh Handicap -1
This is expected to be a tight encounter with any win from either side most likely being from a small margin. Both sides have dispatched Derry and Westmeath heading into this one. Galway beat Westmeath by 4 points last time out while Armagh beat Westmeath by 5 points in Round 1. On paper these look like very similar results but this is not the case. Galway and Westmeath were neck and neck throughout the game with often one point only separating them and Westmeath leading Galway for a lot of the second half. Armagh on the contrary, had Westmeath at arms length for most of the game always having a cushion similar to the one they ended with, 5 points. Armagh’s performance against Westmeath was more comfortable than that of Galway’s. Similarly against Derry, Armagh had a more comfortable day at the office than Galway had against the same opponents. Armagh were victorious over Derry by a massive 11 points, 3-17 to 0-15. Derry and Galway was a lot more tight especially before Gareth McKinless’s red card after 21 minutes, with the sides level at this stage. Galway eventually were victorious by 5 points but they allowed 14 man Derry to stay in the game. It would seem that Armagh are slightly the stronger side and if they are to win it will be a close one. A handicap of -1 for Armagh seems like a good bet, especially if you want bigger odds than just an Armagh win with BoyleSports pricing it at 2.00.
Tip 3 First Team to score - Galway
This tip is an interesting one because predicting who will score the first point is nearly an impossible task. There are many factors that can sway who scores the first point in a game, the referee may give a scoreable free to either team, the wind may be strong in favour of a certain team, and the throw up is 50/50 and can be one by either team. When looking back at the matches played so far neither of these teams are proficient in scoring the first point. Galway scored the first against Westmeath last time out but failed to score first versus Derry in round 1 and against Mayo in the Connacht final. Armagh have failed to score first in round robin stage of the All Ireland so far, conceding first to Derry and Westmeath. Predicting this outcome is similar to predicting the toss of a coin but I am predicting Galway to score the first point because of their midfield talisman Paul Conroy. Conroy is among one of the best midfielders in the country and is strong in the air, so I am tipping him to win the throw up and send Galway on their way to the first point of the game. This is priced at 1.93 at Leovegas Sports with Armagh actually being tipped as favourites to score the first point by them.
