Donegal take on Clare this Saturday, the 15th of June, in an important match for both sides in group 3. The match takes place in the neutral venue of Healy Park in Omagh, county Tyrone, so it is a longer distance of travel for Clare than Donegal. The match throws in at 3 pm and is refereed by Mayo man Jerome Henry. The match will not be televised on either RTE for Irish viewers or GAA Go for both worldwide or Irish viewers, so the only way to see this match is to attend it. 2 points separate both these sides with Donegal sitting in 3rd place on 2 points while Clare are bottom of the table on 0 points. Clare would need at least a 12 point margin to pass out Donegal on score difference and take the 3rd spot in this group and a preliminary All-Ireland quarter-final spot. Donegal need to win and hope Tyrone beat Cork to have any chance of getting top spot and going straight into the Quarter Final. They would need to better any potential Tyrone victory by 3 points to have a superior score difference. This is a match with a lot of mathematical permutations but priority number one for both sides will be to get the victory and see where it leaves them.
🏆 Donegal vs Clare All Ireland Championship Prediction
On paper, this match seems as it will be a routine win for Donegal. Clare had an average league campaign, failing to get promoted from Division 3. They have 1 championship win to this point in 4 games coming against Waterford, a side who finished bottom of Division 4 and by that are the worst team in the country by a scoreline of 2-20 to 1-9. They have since faced Kerry, Cork and Tyrone, 3 teams who will be targeting an All-Ireland victory and have lost all 3 by 7,2 and 14 points respectively. Donegal were left shocked by their defeat to Cork, losing by 2 just like Clare did, but they were very impressive versus Tyrone winning by 7 points and scoring 0-21 with 0-14 of these scores coming from play. Donegal were undefeated in 2024 before the defeat to Cork winning 11 games drawing 1 with one of those 11 wins coming on penalties. The Cork result would seem like an outlier based on how the rest of 2024 has gone for Donegal, and they should get back on track versus Clare, who have struggled against sides who are in the All Ireland phase with all their victories in league and championship coming against Tailteann Cup teams Waterford, Offaly, Antrim, Limerick, Wicklow and Sligo. Donegal should have too much quality for Clare.
🔎 Donegal vs Clare Performance Analysis
Both Donegal and Clare have tasted defeat in the group stage versus Cork so far so we can compare statistics by both these two teams to see who was stronger in defeat. Two of the most important statistics in GAA today is turnovers lost, which is possession lost either in the tackle or by an error and shot efficiency which is the percentage of shots scored from the amount taken. Against Cork, Clare had 21 turnovers lost and scored 12 from 21 shots at an efficiency of 57%. Of these shots, 14 were from play, and 5 were scored which is an efficiency of 35%. Against Cork, Donegal had 19 turnovers lost and scored 16 out of 23 shots at an efficiency of 69% with 18 shots from play and 11 scored at an efficiency of 61%. Donegal were more efficient against Cork than Clare and made slightly less turnovers lost. In victory versus Tyrone, Donegal only had 10 turnovers lost which is an impressive total.
💯 Donegal vs Clare All Ireland Championship Odds
Donegal are the overwhelming favourites for this one with the bookmakers not giving Clare any chance to get the shock victory in Omagh on Saturday. Clare are coming in at odds of around 9.00 while Donegal come in at small odds of around 1.05. Donegal have been impressive in 2024 but will need a response to their first defeat of 2024 versus Cork. It will be interesting to see how they respond to a defeat, having not tasted defeat yet under Jim McGuinness’s second reign in charge of them. Clare will have it all to do on Saturday and will need to win by a large margin of 12 points so will therefore have to chase the game leaving them vulnerable which Donegal can take advantage of. This would have been a difficult one for Clare in normal circumstances but the fact they need such a large win makes the task even more tough. Donegal are the clear favourites for this one and this can be seen on the Irish betting sites.

✔️ Donegal vs Clare Betting Tips
Donegal and Clare is an intriguing matchup, and if you're unsure how the game will play out or looking for ideas on how to use your free bets, here are some tips to consider:
Tip 1: Donegal to Win
Donegal are very much the favourites for this one, and they deserve to be based on their form in 2024, winning 11 and drawing 1 out of 13 games with the only defeat coming last time out versus Cork. They should get the job done in this one to point them back on the right track as one of the All Ireland contenders. I believe the Cork game will be an outlier for Donegal and should get back to winning ways this time out versus Clare. They have been very impressive all year putting up high scores like the 0-21 versus Tyrone in round 1 and 0-20 in the Ulster final and 4-11 versus Derry. Clare’s numbers have not been as high as Dongal’s, scoring 1-13 versus Cork and 0-10 versus Tyrone in their last 2 games. If Clare were to get the victory on Saturday it could be the shock of the championship so far. They will struggle to deal with the quality that Donegal possess and even though the odds for Donegal are low, your bet is highly likely to be successful. BoyleSports offers odds of 1.05 for Donegal to win.
Tip 2: Donegal Handicap -9
Clare need to win this by a comfortable margin of 12 points and this could actually be detrimental to them and lead to the opposite happening, them losing by a large margin. They will have to play an open and expansive game which will play into the hands of Donegal who have players Oisin Gallen and Patrick McBrearty in great form scoring 0-3 and 0-7 respectively last time out versus Cork. In the championship so far in both the Ulster and All Ireland championship Donegal have scored a total of 4-86 in 5 games which is an average of 0.8-17.2 which can be rounded to 1-17. In their 4 championship matches Clare have scored 4-54 which is an average of 1-13.5 which can be rounded to 1-14. This average is slightly increased because Clare scored 2-20 versus a poor Waterford side in their first championship game. If that game is removed Clare have scored 2-34 which is an average of 0.66-11.33 across 3 games which can be rounded to 1-11. It could be predicted that the game will end 1-17 to 1-11 in Donegal’s favour but I believe Donegal will win by a larger margin than this. Donegal were 7 point victors against Tyrone whereas Clare were beaten convincingly by Tyrone by a total of 14 points. Donegal will be comfortable in this one and a handicap of -9 is priced at 2.00 at BoyleSports.
Tip 3 Donegal HT/FT
Clare have played 4 championship games this year and have gone into half time behind on 3 occasions, each time they went on to lose. They were behind 0-11 to 0-7 at half time versus Kerry, they were behind 1-6 to 0-4 at half time to Cork and were behind 2-3 to 0-5 at half time to Tyrone. Donegal were ahead at half time before being defeated by Cork and were also ahead against Tyrone at half time before going on to win. Donegal are averaging more scores than Clare and are performing better in both halves of games. I expect Donegal to be leading this game at half time and that they will also go on to win the game. Donegal Half Time Full Time can be got on BoyleSports at odds of 1.15.
