The biggest game in the Gaelic football calendar takes place on Sunday afternoon of the 28th of July as Connacht champions Galway take on Ulster runner ups Armagh in the All-Ireland SFC Final. At the beginning of the year, both of these sides would have gone under the radar as potential All-Ireland champions, with Derry, Kerry, and Dublin being the favourites to take home the Sam Maguire in 2024. Galway defeated Derry in the group stage of the All-Ireland and defeated Dublin in the All-Ireland quarter-final while Armagh defeated Kerry in the All-Ireland semi-final after extra time.
This final is very intriguing as neither side have won an All-Ireland title in 22 years. Galway last won the All-Ireland in 2001 while Armagh won their only All-Ireland title the following year in 2002. Armagh have not competed in an All-Ireland final since 2003 while Galway competed in the 2022 All-Ireland final losing out to Kerry on a score line of 0-20 to 0-16. Let's dig into my Armagh vs Galway final prediction to see who I think may come out on top.
🏆Armagh vs Galway Prediction
Galway have remained unbeaten in the entire championship, having not dropped a game in the Connacht championship prior and ultimately won their provincial title. They also managed to avoid a loss in the group stage of the All-Ireland, winning twice versus Westmeath and Derry and drawing with their All-Ireland-final opponents Armagh. They defeated Monaghan, Dublin, and Donegal in the knockout stages to make it to the All-Ireland final.
Armagh have only suffered one championship defeat: an Ulster final defeat to Donegal, although this defeat was on penalties. They also had two wins and a draw in the group stage and beat Roscommon and Kerry in the knockout stages to make it to this All-Ireland final. This game is a tough one to call and both sides will be confident after victories against All-Ireland favourites to this point. Armagh were excellent against Kerry, but it could be argued Kerry left it behind them. Galway were excellent against Donegal and in their quarter-final versus Dublin, so I am tipping them to be crowned All-Ireland champions.
🔎 Armagh vs Galway Performance Analysis
Last time out versus Kerry, Armagh had 23 turnovers lost and a score efficiency of 55%: 19 out of 34 shots. They had an attack efficiency of 37%, scoring 19 out of 51 attacks, in the 90 minute game.
Galway, in their semi-final versus Donegal, had 11 turnovers lost. They too had a score efficiency of 55%, scoring 15 out of 27 shots. They had an attack efficiency of 43%, scoring 15 out of 35 attacks. Galway played 20 minutes less than Armagh so their turnovers lost are lower, but Galway have shown they are strong in possession, only having 9 turnovers lost against Dublin while Armagh had 17 in their quarter-final against Roscommon.
My Prediction: 🏆 Galway to win!
💯 Armagh vs Galway Betting Odds
There isn't much splitting the odds from the bookmakers for this one. Galway come into the game off huge victories over Dublin and Donegal, while Armagh also had a huge victory over Kerry. Galway are the slight favorites for this one, as reflected by the bookmakers on the betting sites here.

✔️ Armagh vs Galway Betting Tips
Armagh vs Galway is an intriguing All-Ireland SFC final and here are some betting tips if you are unsure how the match will transpire.
Tip 1: Galway to Win
This game is very much a toss of the coin, but the stats are slightly in favour of Galway. They are better in possession, losing less turnovers than Armagh. They both had the same score efficiency in their semi-finals, but Galway had a much better attack efficiency. This game will no doubt be tight, but I think Galway will have enough, and I would go with them at odds of 1.91 with BoyleSports.
Tip 2: Total Points Over 31.5
Armagh have averaged around 18 points a game so far while Galway have managed around 17. At 35 points, I think over 31.5 points has to be my pick for this market.
Tip 3 Shane Walsh to Win Man of the Match
Shane Walsh has shown throughout this championship that he is Galway’s star man. He has been battling injuries throughout 2024, but he has left everything on the pitch for his team in each game. He is a player who will definitely deserve a break after this last match, but he will no doubt play a big part in the All-Ireland SFC final beforehand. He has shown how dangerous he is even when not fully fit, so after a two-week rest, he will definitely be one to watch for man of the match.
- Tip 1: Galway to Win - price of 2.25 at DirectionBet.
- Tip 2: Total Points Over 31.5 - price of 1.62 with BoyleSports
- Tip 3: Shane Walsh as Man of the Match - price of 6.50 with BoyleSports
