Formula One Sport Betting Markets

There are a lot of markets to explore when betting on F1 races. These may vary from one betting site to the other but overall, you’ll be looking at what each driver and team can do. Depending on the circuit, its difficulties, and its history, some markets may be more favoured than others. In the sections below, we’ll take a look at some of the most common F1 markets provided by top Irish sportsbooks. These will include the fastest lap during a race, race winner, and podium finish.

Race Winner Bets

As earlier said, Formula One is an intercontinental event with races held in cities with ever-changing circuits. In other words, for each race that comprises the whole World Championship season, there is a specific winner. To better illustrate this, let’s consider the 2025 Australian GP which occurred on March 16th, 2025, at Albert Park, Melbourne. The race was won by McLaren driver Lando Norris which put him in front in the Drivers’ Championship. This broke Max Verstappen’s record of consecutive days leading the Championship. Verstappen had held the lead in the Championship standings since the 2022 Spanish Grand Prix.

Fastest Lap Bets

There’s little doubt that F1 is a competition for the fastest car racing drivers in the world. However, because there’s bound to be one driver with an outstanding speed, it’s possible to bet on the fastest lap of any given race throughout the season. Indeed, in 2007, multinational logistics company DHL redefined the F1 speed standards with the award of the DHL Fastest Lap award which crowns the speediest driver of the season. A good example here is the 2025 Italian Grand Prix at the extremely quick Monza circuit. In last year’s race Lando Norris had the fastest lap at 1.20.901.

Podium Finish Bets

It’s quite common for sports events to have three teams on the podium at the end of a tournament. By betting that a driver will hold one of the first three positions, you’re placing a podium finish. No need to specify whether they’ll finish first, second, or third as the essence is for them to be on the podium. In the final race of the 2025 season, at the Abu Dhabi GP which culminated in a 3 way battle for the title, the 3 drivers on the podium were Max Verstappen, Oscar Piastri and Lando Norris. A podium bet on any of these three drivers would have been successful. Note that, this bet type is like the To-Win bet with an added advantage of relatively safer odds of winning.

Driver Matchup Bets

Max Verstappen, George Russell and Charles Leclerc are amongst the favourites for the World Championship in 2026, so they could prove a safe bet if you are looking to have a driver matchup bet. Considering this, you may like to choose two top-placed drivers to place a bet on who will have a better performance than the other. With the 2026 F1 season kicking off in Australia on March 8th, it may be a chance to try out a driver matchup bet.

Pole Position

In racing, when we talk about pole position, we’re simply referring to the car that will have the most advantageous starting position on the track. This is determined using statistics and is earned by the best qualifying driver. As such, a pole position bet is a bet that predicts which driver will earn the pole position by obtaining the best qualifying time. In order to win this bet, the chosen driver must be the pole-sitter or have the first slot at the beginning of the race. Red Bull driver Max Verstappen secured the most pole positions during the 2025 season with a total of 8.

Constructor Winner

A popular Formula 1 (F1) betting market where you can wager on which F1 team, also known as a constructor, will accumulate the most championship points over the course of an F1 season. In Formula 1, both individual drivers and teams (constructors) compete for championship titles. The Constructor Winner bet focuses on the teams' performance rather than individual drivers. Each team earns points based on the combined results of their two drivers in each race. McLaren won the 2025 Constructors Championship due to the performances of both of their drivers.

Future Bets

If from the very first race, you can tell which driver or team will win at the end, then you’re probably on your way to a winning future bet. As the name indicates, future bets are predictions made ahead of time, on the winner of the Drivers or Constructors Championship. It can be placed at the very beginning of the tournament and runs till the end. When placed early, you can take advantage of the most competitive F1 betting odds as over time odds may drop once it becomes clear who the favourite is. McLaren may have picked up both titles last year, but ahead of this year’s first race it is George Russell and Max Verstappen that are the early favourites to win the Drivers’ Championship, while Mercedes are favourites to pick up the Constructor’s title.

🕹️ F1 Betting Tips | Bet on Formula 1 Online

When betting on F1, you should know a few things to get the most out of your betting experience. Two main points I consider a must for every punter are discussed below. In order to be able to make as smart bets as possible, it is important that you keep an eye on the standings during the course of the competition. You can do this, among other things, via the Formula 1 official website. You can of course also search for Formula 1 standings or Formula 1 calendar to get the latest results.

Analyse Betting Markets

For each F1 race, you’ll be provided several markets on which to bet at the sportsbook. It’s important to take the time to analyse each market to pick the one with the highest winning potential. Check previous and current statistics on drivers, teams, and race circuits.

Embrace Responsible Gambling

Gambling on sports online requires real money wagers which is why you must not ignore safe gambling habits. Each bet is based on probability meaning you’re not 100% sure of the outcome. You can set limits on how much you bet per race or daily.

Formula 1 odds

Keep an eye out for opportunities where your insights on F1 odds diverge from the bookmakers'. These situations often present valuable betting prospects that shouldn't be overlooked. Trust your instincts and seek out bets that you believe offer substantial value.
