The Autódromo Hermanos Rodríguez is truly one of the most unique tracks on the F1 calendar. Known for its high altitude, sitting just 2.2 km above sea level, the track brings more challenges than just the thinning air. The thinner air affects car performance, including engine performance and downforce, bringing lots of challenges to drivers and pit crews alike.

The track was built in the Magdalena Mixhuca Public Park in 1959, hosting its first F1 race in 1962, when a non-championship race was held at the track. The following year it held its first ever bona fide Championship Grand Prix and remained part of the calendar until 1970. It returned from 1986 to 1992 before once again returning to the F1 calendar from 2015 to 2019. Since 2021 the race has been run under the name of the Mexico City Grand Prix and is due to be part of the race line-up until at least 2028.

Since 1979, the 4.3 km track has been named in memory of two of Mexico’s most famous drivers, the Rodriguez brothers, Ricardo and Pedro.

The track still mainly follows the outline of the original circuit, but it was renovated ahead of the 2015 season. The front straight was extended to accommodate the new media centre and paddock. The prolific amount of high-radius turns was greatly reduced, with the infamous Peraltada corner now bisected, allowing drivers to re-enter the corner halfway through it.
