And so it comes down to this.

The last race of the enthralling 2025 Formula 1 season, the Abu Dhabi Grand Prix, will decide who is crowned this year’s Drivers’ Champion. Will it be the current leader, Lando Norris, who struggled to 4th place in Qatar after McLaren’s decision not to pit their two cars under the safety car in the Championship’s penultimate race?

Max Verstappen took full advantage of McLaren’s mistake to take the win ahead of Oscar Piastri, putting himself 12 points behind Norris as we head to the decider in Abu Dhabi. Piastri is 4 points further back in 3rd place overall, as the three men look set for a fantastic finale to what has been an exciting end to the season.

So, who will come out on top and win this year’s Championship? Can Norris hold on to his lead and clinch his maiden Formula 1 Drivers’ Championship, or will Verstappen or Piastri pull off an upset and seal the deal?

Read our Abu Dhabi Grand Prix prediction to find out who we think will win the race and the Championship. Our prediction includes the latest Abu Dhabi Grand Prix betting odds, as well as essential betting tips, so you won’t miss out on anything as we look forward to an exciting end to the 2025 F1 season.

🎗️ Abu Dhabi Grand Prix – Key Points

  • What needs to happen for Lando Norris to win the Championship? It’s quite simple for Norris in Abu Dhabi: win or finish on the podium, and he will be crowned the 2025 Drivers’ Champion. Norris currently holds a 12-point lead over Verstappen and a 16-point lead over his McLaren teammate Oscar Piastri, meaning any podium finish keeps him ahead of both rivals, even if one of them wins the race.
  • What needs to happen for Max Verstappen to win the Championship? The four-time consecutive champion’s late-season surge has brought him back into a title fight that midway through the season looked impossible given McLaren’s form. To win the title in Abu Dhabi, he must win the race and hope Norris finishes off the podium. If Verstappen finishes 2nd, he must hope Norris finishes 8th or lower and that Piastri does not win.
  • What needs to happen for Oscar Piastri to win the Championship? Piastri’s hopes of claiming his first Drivers’ Championship in just his third season are hanging by a thread. He is the biggest outsider of the three in the latest Abu Dhabi Grand Prix betting markets — and it’s easy to see why. For the Australian to win the Championship, he must win the race and hope Norris finishes 6th or lower and Verstappen doesn’t outscore him.

🪄 Abu Dhabi Grand Prix Prediction

A few months ago, few could have predicted that Norris, Verstappen, and Piastri would all still be in contention heading into the final race of the 2025 season. Given the form Norris and Piastri showed for much of the year, it was hard to make a case for Verstappen, especially when he was 104 points behind at one stage.

That he has fought back to sit just 12 points behind Norris is a testament to him and his team. While it is still a long shot for him to win the title, it is certainly not a long shot for him to take the race win on December 7th.

His record at the Yas Marina Circuit is fantastic, having taken the race four times in a row from 2020–2023. He is also in the best form of the three, with five wins in his last eight races, and arrives in Abu Dhabi full of confidence after capitalising on McLaren’s pit-call error in Qatar.

The leading Irish betting sites agree and have made Verstappen the favourite to win the race in Abu Dhabi. Norris may still secure the Championship with a podium finish, while Piastri reminded everyone in Qatar that, on his day, he can beat anyone.

That being said, our 2025 Abu Dhabi Grand Prix prediction is another Max Verstappen race win — a result that would make him the joint-most successful driver in Abu Dhabi Grand Prix history, alongside Lewis Hamilton, with five wins.

OUR PREDICTION: Max Verstappen TO WIN

🕹️ Yas Marina Circuit – Overview

The Yas Marina Circuit first hosted the Abu Dhabi Grand Prix in 2009 and has remained a fixture ever since. The 5.281 km track contains 16 turns but is defined by its almost 1.2 km straight between Turns 5 and 6. The slower sections at the start and end of the lap mean this straight is where most overtakes occur.

The race was Formula 1’s first-ever day–night event and continues to run in that format.

🎰 Betting on the Abu Dhabi Grand Prix – Our Conclusion

The major question is not just who wins the 2025 Abu Dhabi Grand Prix — which we believe will be Max Verstappen — but which of Verstappen, Lando Norris, or Oscar Piastri will walk away as World Champion.

Norris knows he only needs a podium to secure his first Championship. He is currently priced at around 1.25 for a Top 3 finish and 1.33 to win the title with our featured betting sites. Verstappen is priced at 3.50 for the title but is the favourite to win the race at 2.41.

For an outside shot, Oscar Piastri is available at 13.00 to win the Championship — but, as explained above, he needs a lot to go his way.

Verstappen is our pick to win the race, but whether that is enough to deliver another F1 title remains to be seen. Whatever happens, there should be plenty of drama and excitement as the 2025 season draws to a close.
