Once again the Munster Senior Championship has lived up to its billing as the energizer for the GAA's intercounty season. All-Ireland champions Clare were stunned last weekend by Tipperary in Ennis, leaving the Banner County on the edge of elimination.
Three counties are locked together on three points and the Premier know that a home win over Waterford would give them strong claims of reaching the Munster decider with Cork and Limerick set for battle in the Gaelic Grounds later on Sunday. It's going to be a massively exciting afternoon of Munster hurling action and the big question on the lips of GAA fans is what channel is Tipperary v Waterford on? The Sunday Game Live will be in Thurles as the RTE2 cameras present every minute from Semple Stadium and the Gaelic Grounds afterwards.
🏆 Tipperary v Waterford Prediction
There are no soft touches in the Munster SHC, that is what generates such widespread appeal, but if Waterford come up short this year, the Deise can reasonably point to a devilish programme of games. They turned over All-Ireland champions Clare first off but had just six days to prepare for the visit of Limerick. Now, after a rest week, they face the trip to Tipp and a Premier County feeling good about themselves after storming Ennis last time out.
The latest odds with Ireland's best betting sites suggest the home team will prevail and it is hard to go against that outcome. Liam Cahill's side were untouchable for large parts of that first half against Clare and, when the questions were asked of them in the second half, they produced the answers. They appear to be building some momentum and for that reason our prediction is for the home side to get the victory that will edge them closer to a Munster final ticket for the first time in four years.

✔️ Tipperary v Waterford Betting Tips
Tipperary have failed in three attempts to beat Waterford in Munster Championship round robin clashes since this new format was introduced. Last year they played out a draw in Walsh Park as Tipp failed to win any of their four games and propped up the table, with the Deise second from bottom. Liam Cahill's side look a different proposition now and, buoyed on by their win over Clare, they can end their recent Championship hoodoo against Waterford.
John McGrath was on fire in Ennis last week, ratting the back of the Clare net twice in that explosive first half as Tipperary scored four goals. He signed off with 2-03, all from play, and his energy, movement and razor-sharp finishing could be crucial in firing the Premier County to victory again.
That first half in Ennis was a real statement of intent from Tipp. They led by a dozen points after a four-goal salvo in the first half.
The All-Ireland champions hunted them down in the second half, remarkably getting level with seven minutes left, but Tipperary found a way to get back in control. Completing our Tipperary v Waterford betting tips is the half-time/full-time double results for the hosts in Semple Stadium, priced at 2.25 with DirectionBet.
- Tip 1: Tipperary to win: Tipp won't like the fact they haven't beaten Waterford in the revamped Munster Championship after three attempts. They also know they cannot undo their good work in defeating Clare in Ennis by flopping here.
- Tip 2: John McGrath anytime goalscorer: John McGrath lashed in two first half goals in Ennis last week as Tipperary ran riot. He's got the bit between his teeth and can raise another green flag despite Waterford having avoided losing a goal in the Championship so far.
- Tip 3: Tipperary half-time/full-time: That first half array of goalscoring was impressive from Tipperary against Clare. Liam Cahill will have his side drilled to start fast again and get the heavy lifting done.
📈 Tipperary Squad Form
Tipperary come into this game off the back of a stunning rollercoaster win over Clare in Ennis last weekend that keeps them in the running to qualify for the Munster decider next month. Four goals in 17 first half minutes through John McGrath (2) and Andrew Ormond (2) seemingly putting this derby to bed as Liam Cahill’s side soared twelve points clear by the 27th minute, but Clare rallied and somehow levelled the tie by the 63rd minute. Playing into the breeze four unanswered points through John McGrath, Jason Forde, Eoghan Connolly and substitute Sean Kenneally got Tipp over the line.
⚽ Waterford Squad Form
Waterford have also beaten the reigning All-Ireland champions this season, emerging with a 2-23 to 0-21 against Clare in Walsh Park in their opener. The Deise couldn't repeat the feat last time against Limerick as John Kiely's emerged six-point winners by 0-28 to 0-22 at the same venue at the start of this month. Peter Queally' side have yet to concede a goal in two Munster Championship appearances.
Stephen Bennett top-scored with nine points – eight from set pieces – for Waterford in that clash with the Treaty. The six-day turnaround was no excuse in defeat, but Queally surely would have wished his Waterford team had an extra week to prepare for Limerick. They have at least enjoyed that fortnight off now.
