Meet Enda McElhinney

Enda McElhinney has more than 10 years' experience previewing and analysing major sporting events for a variety of publications, with his bank of knowledge encompassing GAA, football, horse racing, snooker and golf.

Enda graduated from Leeds Trinity University with a degree in Media and English and has found a niche in providing sports previews with a strong focus on betting outcomes.

He is a keen following of the GAA. Based in Donegal, his primary leanings tend to be towards Gaelic football and the pursuit of the Sam Maguire Cup, though he also has an in-depth knowledge of the hurling scene and the wonderful excitement that it routinely provides to Irish sports fans.

Enda is also involved locally in sports administration in both football and golf, two of his longest-standing sporting loves.

From a young age, Enda's love of sport has been married to an interest in the odds that accompany every sporting event. That interest manifested itself with origins in horse racing but has grown to encompass all sports.

He is an avid follower of horse racing, both in Britain and Ireland, with a strong connection to jumps racing. Enda provides regular racing tips for a variety of online sources, with a strong focus on the Cheltenham Festival and the National Hunt season that wraps around it like never before.

In recent times he has become a regular contribute at BetinIreland.ie, providing horse racing and GAA previews as well as weekly columns on Irish sport, both domestically and at international levels.

GAA Sports

Gaelic Games are central to almost evert aspect of Irish culture and the national sports are rightly treasured. Born and bred in Co Donegal, Enda has always maintained a strong interest in the GAA, despite a far from distinguished playing career in his youth!

Football is his first love when it comes to the GAA, hailing as he does from a county with deep ties to the game. The new rules for 2025 are exciting changes for a game in desperate need of an injection of excitement and unpredictability to reclaim neutral fans as hurling has rightly grabbed the headlines in recent years.

Football

Football is another key specialist area for Enda in his sporting knowledge. He regularly covers the Airtricity League action in Ireland and is an avid follower of both English and Scottish action alongside the top European club competitions. Providing assured stats-based analysis and tips on the biggest games is a regular endeavour.

Horse Racing

Horse racing is a real passion for Enda, who has spent more than a decade as a regular racing contributor for a wide range of publications and leading bookmakers' blogs. Jumps racing is to the fore, with the Cheltenham Festival amongst his most eagerly anticipated sporting events in any year. The major spring festivals at Leopardstown, Aintree and Punchestown are always in his thinking, before turning attention to the Flat and the summer extravaganzas at Royal Ascot, Glorious Goodwood and so many more.
