Limerick face off against Tipperary in Round 5 of the 2026 Munster Senior Hurling Championship, knowing a victory will book them a place in the Munster final against either Cork or Clare.
The Gaelic Grounds is the venue for this match, with referee Colm Lyons due to throw the sliotar in at 16:00 GMT on Sunday, May 24th.
In this preview to the game, we will look ahead by highlighting the latest Limerick v Tipperary betting odds as well as offering up our own Limerick v Tipperary prediction.
🏆 Limerick vs Tipperary Prediction
Limerick should be accounting for Tipperary quite comfortably when they meet on Sunday, May 24th, at the Gaelic Grounds. That is because Tipperary have nothing left to play for in 2026 after a disappointing defence of the Liam McCarthy Cup they won in such exhilarating fashion last year. Liam Cahill’s men have struggled to get up to the tempo of championship hurling this year, and in Munster that is just inexcusable.
The ferocity and the standard of the Munster Championship means that teams must be on it from Round 1, and unfortunately for Tipperary fans, their team just hasn’t been this year. They may raise their game for the final match of their season, but we just don’t see it, so for that reason, alongside the fact that Limerick are starting to grow into the season, our Limerick v Tipperary prediction is for a Limerick win, which will take them into another Munster final.
John Kiely’s men may have struggled for periods against Waterford, but knowing a win would secure their spot in the All-Ireland series, they performed powerfully in the final quarter to earn a 9-point win, on a scoreline of 2-29 -2-20.
They were behind as late as the 60th minute against Waterford, but such is the class of John Kiely’s team, they outscored their opponents 2-7 to 1 goal in the closing ten minutes. It again highlighted the scoring ability that this Limerick side has, even without the returning Aaron Gillane getting his name on the score sheet.
Tipperary, for their part, failed to mount any kind of serious challenge to Clare in Semple Stadium. Another poor performance resulted in an eleven-point loss to Clare, and they now head to Limerick with nothing to play for but their pride. They still have the players to hurt Limerick, with the likes of Jake Morris, Ronan Maher, Eoghan Connolly and Darragh McCarthy all capable of leading their team to a performance, but the question is whether they will with nothing on the line for them.
Limerick will want to make sure of their Munster final spot and will surely look to quash any thoughts Tipperary might have of causing a shock early on. We think they will do that, and they could run out comfortable winners in the end, which will book them a spot in their eighth consecutive Munster decider on June 7th.
OUR PREDICTION: 🏆 LIMERICK TO WIN 🏆
💯 Limerick vs Tipperary Betting Odds
Limerick are overwhelming favourites to beat Tipperary at the Gaelic Grounds when we look at the latest Limerick v Tipperary odds. That is understandable given the contrasting fortunes of both teams, with Limerick chasing a spot in the Munster final and Tipperary with nothing to play for after a disappointing 2026.
Limerick are priced at around 1.17 with Festivalplay to beat Tipperary, while the 2025 All-Ireland champions are marked up at 6.50 with BoyleSports to claim a shock win.

✔️ Limerick vs Tipperary Betting Tips
At this stage in our Limerick v Tipperary betting preview, we will share with you three betting tips that may come in handy if you have any free bets to use on the match.
Remember, before having a bet, why not check out our sportsbook reviews page? Here, you can find out even more about many of the top betting sites listed on our site.
- Tip 1: Limerick to Win: Limerick will be desperate to reach another Munster decider, and that should be all the motivation they need against a Tipp side with nothing left to play for this year. We fancy Limerick to comfortably dispatch Tipperary, and if you agree, you can currently get a price of 1.14 with BoyleSports on Limerick securing the win.
- Tip 2: Limerick -8 Handicap Betting: Two of the last three meetings of these two sides have been draws, but we don’t think this is going to be another one. Limerick should have far too much for a Tipperary side that may well want the season to be over, given their struggles this year. Limerick have players coming back that will add greater strength to their squad, and John Kiely should have his players fully motivated to book their place in the Munster decider. We believe it will be comfortable for Limerick against Tipperary, and if you fancy Limerick -8 on May 24th, you can currently back them at a price of 2.10 with Festivalplay.
- Tip 3: Aaron Gillane to be an anytime goal scorer: Gillane was held scoreless on his comeback against Waterford, but a player that has scored 18 goals in championship hurling is probably not going to be kept scoreless for two matches running. He will be keen to make up for lost time in this year’s championship, and that might not be good news for Tipperary’s defenders. With that in mind, keep an eye out for the goal scorer markets as the match draws closer.
📈 Limerick Squad Form
John Kiely’s Limerick will look to secure their Munster final place with a win against Tipperary in this Round 5 clash at the Gaelic Grounds. They currently sit in second place on 4 points after two wins from their three matches to date. They are already guaranteed a place in the All-Ireland series, but they will surely be keen to make it back to another provincial decider. Aaron Gillane, who missed the Cork and Clare matches, returned against Waterford, adding further strength to Limerick’s Munster charge.
⚽ Tipperary Squad Form
It has been a disappointing All-Ireland title defence from Liam Cahill’s Tipperary team this year. They have claimed no wins from their first three Munster Championship matches, with a draw against Waterford their best result so far.
👕 Limerick vs Tipperary Predicted Lineups
