Limerick will travel to Cork for the second round of Munster Senior Hurling Championship fixtures this weekend, in a repeat of the 2026 NHL Division 1A final.

The Shannonsiders won that particular encounter by six points, albeit on home soil at the TUS Gaelic Grounds. Limerick have only lost one of their past five competitive matches against Cork since the beginning of 2025, but this defeat did come in last year’s provincial final. Read on to discover our expert Cork v Limerick prediction for 2026.

🏆 Cork vs Limerick Prediction

This will be the third competitive clash between Cork and Limerick in 2026, with the Shannonsiders having prevailed on the two previous occasions in the Allianz National League. In addition to the divisional final, Limerick defeated the Rebel County by eight points in a round-robin fixture on March 7th.

Centre forward Aidan O’Connor scored 1-19 across both of these wins, including 1-11 in the round-robin victory last month. The prolific 23-year-old was also the division’s top scorer overall, as he contributed 1-63 and 66 points in seven appearances at an impressive rate of 9.42 per game.

Interestingly, both of these games were contested in Limerick, while Cork won all three of their home National League matches by a combined margin of 45 points. It should also be noted that while the Shannonsiders have held the recent edge in all competitions, Cork have won three of the previous four provincial matches against their rivals.

The Rebel County’s home record is incredibly strong, with the team unbeaten in nine league and provincial matches at Páirc Uí Chaoimh since a narrow two-point loss to Clare in April 2024. The depth of their panel is unmatched too, while youngster Barry Walsh has added to this following his debut against Tipp last weekend. So, our Cork v Limerick SHC prediction for 2026 is that the Rebel County will edge an entertaining and high-quality encounter.

OUR PREDICTION: 🏆 CORK TO WIN 🏆

💯 Cork vs Limerick Betting Odds

The latest Cork vs Limerick betting odds reflect the tight nature of this matchup, with BoyleSports making the Rebel County the narrow favourites at odds of 2.00. This price implies a 50.0% win probability for Ben O'Connor’s men.

Conversely, Limerick can be backed at odds of 2.10 with the same bookmaker, suggesting that they have a 47.6% chance of winning at Páirc Uí Chaoimh. The draw is priced at 8.50 and has an 11.8% probability of occurring.

All three potential match outcomes have a combined implied probability value of 109.4%. This indicates a high bookmaker margin and suggests that there’s only nominal value in the 1x2 betting market. Here’s a summary of the latest odds from the best Irish betting sites.

✔️ Cork vs Limerick Betting Tips

While we wouldn’t recommend wagering on the outright winner in Cork, the brands covered by our bookmaker reviews all offer a diverse selection of alternative betting markets. Below, you’ll find some insightful Cork vs Limerick betting tips that are based on the most popular markets.

  • Tip 1: Pick Brian Hayes as an Anytime Goalscorer: Left-wing forward Brian Hayes was in deadly form during Cork’s National League campaign, notching six goals in just six appearances and 27 points overall. In 42 career matches for the Rebel County, he has struck a total of 20 goals, at a rate of 0.47 per game. He also contributed Cork’s goal in the recent Division 1A final defeat to Limerick at the beginning of April, where he showcased his poacher’s instinct to pounce on a mistake by Diarmaid Byrnes. You can get on this at competitive odds of 2.40 with BoyleSports, while it may be a good use of any free bet offers that you have.
  • Tip 2: Back Cork in the Half-Time/Full-Time Market: Both teams are renowned for their explosive starts in matches, while Limerick have led at the interval in four of their last five meetings with the Rebel County. However, Cork were in front at half-time in all three of their NHL home matches this season, with skipper Darragh Fitzgibbon providing intensity and drive from the half-forward line. I expect Ben O'Connor’s side to start on the front foot once again in front of their own fans, and you can back them to lead at half and full-time at odds of 3.00 with BoyleSports.
  • Tip 3: Back Cork to Win With a -1 Point Handicap: If you do think that Cork will edge this match, there may be some value in backing them with a -1 point handicap at slightly enhanced odds of 2.25 with BoyleSports. Cork’s previous three provincial wins over Limerick have been achieved by a combined margin of just four points, with last season’s Munster final victory settled after a penalty shootout. I certainly expect this to be a keenly-contested match, and Cork simply have to prevail by two points or more for the wager to pay out.

📈 Cork Squad Form

Of the 21 league and championship matches they’ve contested since the beginning of 2025, Cork have won 13 (61.9%). Three of their five defeats during this run have been at the hands of Limerick, including a 16-point thrashing during the 2025 Munster round-robin.

However, the Rebel County retain an incredible array of attacking talent, bringing the returning Diarmuid Healy off the bench against Tipperary last week while debutants William Buckley and Barry Walsh contributed 0-6 and 0-4 respectively.

Manager Ben O’Connor can also call on Shane Barrett, Brian Hayes and Alan Connolly in attack this weekend, creating a selection headache that most coaches can only dream of. There have even been calls for O’Connor to push Darragh Fitzgibbon back into midfield to accommodate the return of Healy, but this would be a bold move against Limerick.

⚽ Limerick Squad Form

Limerick coach John Kiely is expected to have a full panel of players available for the clash with Cork.

Tom Morrissey was the only notable absentee from the Allianz League final win earlier in April, but he has now returned to training and should be fit to start on the bench. However, Limerick are expected to name an unchanged lineup from their victory over Cork at the TUS Gaelic Grounds.

The Shannonsiders' form since the beginning of 2025 has been mixed, with the side winning nine of their 18 league and championship matches (50.0%). This run has also featured seven defeats, including last season’s Munster final against Cork.
