The latest edition of one of GAA’s greatest rivalries will take place in Portlaoise on April 27th when Dublin and Meath face off once more in the 2025 Leinster Football Championship Semi-Final. Although the rivalry has become pretty one sided in favour of Dublin over the last 20 years or so, a Dublin v Meath game is still a very special occasion for many people and this meeting in Portlaoise will hopefully be no different.

Meath booked their place in the last 4 with a brilliant 1-25 – 0-21 comeback win against Offaly in the Quarterfinal, while the Dubs came through 2-21 – 0-18 against underdogs Wicklow in their Quarterfinal meeting. For those that can’t make it to Portlaoise to watch the game, the match will be broadcast live on the new GAA streaming service GAA+. In this preview to the clash, we will take you through the latest Dublin v Meath odds, as well as give you our very own Dublin v Meath prediction.

🏆 Dublin v Meath Prediction

A storied rivalry that has moved in one direction over the last few years looks set to take the same path when these two great football counties meet on April 27th. Dublin are unbeaten against old rivals Meath in Leinster since that famous 5 goal demolition job by Meath over Pat Gilroy’s Dublin back in 2010. Dublin finished 5th in Division 1 of the National League, narrowly missing out on a place in the Final, and kicked off their 2025 Championship with a tougher than expected 2-21 – 0-18 win over Wicklow in Aughrim on April 13th. Meath for their part finished 3rd in Division 2 of the League, losing out on promotion by 1 place. Robbie Brennan’s side kicked off their Leinster Championship with a 1-30 – 0-19 victory over Carlow, before coming back from a 0-5 – 0-15 half time deficit, to beat Offaly 1-25 – 0-21, in their Quarterfinal.

Meath will feel they have nothing to lose having a crack at the Dubs when the sides meet in Portlaoise and will look to continue the upward trajectory their manager seems to be taking them on. It is more than likely not going to be enough to seriously trouble the Dubs but avoiding a humiliation like they suffered in 2024 will stand Meath in good stead moving forward in this year’s Championship. All things considered however at this stage in Meath’s development, Dublin will be too strong for their old rivals, and we predict a Dublin win in Portlaoise on April 27th.

OUR PREDICTION: 🏆 DUBLIN TO WIN 🏆

✔️ Dublin v Meath Betting Tips

At this stage of our Dublin v Meath prediction page, we will take you through a selection of Dublin v Meath betting tips. These tips will hopefully prove useful for those with free bet offers, or those just looking to have a bet on the Dublin v Meath clash.

  • Tip 1: Dublin to win: Dublin re heavy favourites to account for Meath and reach another Leinster Final, and on paper it’s easy to see why. The chance of a battle with the Dubs will motivate Meath, and Robbie Brennan looks to be doing good things with the Royal County, but it is far too early to be expecting miracles in Portlaoise on April 27th. Dublin will probably come through Meath and then clinch another Leinster title, but it is then their hard work will begin, as they look to challenge for Sam Maguire. To back a Dublin win, you can get a price of 1.08 with BoyleSports.
  • Tip 2: Con O’ Callaghan to score a goal anytime: As always, Cuala star Con O’ Callaghan will be the man the Dubs will look to against Meath. He has already clinched an All-Ireland club title with the Dublin champions this year and looks in the kind of form that could propel Dessie Farrell’s men to potentially claim another All-Ireland by the end of July. He hit 1-7 against Wicklow the last day, so expect him to be to the fore again in Portlaoise on April 27th.
  • Tip 3: Dublin -8 Handicap betting: Although Dublin only beat Wicklow by 9 points, and Meath are better than Oisin McConville’s Wicklow side, we think that the sight of that green and gold jersey will be enough to focus Dublin minds on April 27th. Putting Meath in what Dublin probably perceives to be their place will be the order of the day for Dublin when the two sides clash, and Dublin will want to lay down a marker to the other All-Ireland challengers as we get closer to the All-Ireland series. If you agree, you can get a price of 1.83 with BoyleSports on Dublin beating the handicap.

📈 Dublin Squad Form

Dublin came through the tie with Wicklow, on a scoreline of 2-21 – 0-18, getting some more game time into their players as they look to kick on in their quest for All-Ireland honours later in the year. The rumoured return of John Small to training is another boost to Dessie Farrell’s 2025 panel, but whether we see the 7-time All-Ireland winner against Meath remains to be seen. The clash with Meath could also see Stephen Cluxton make his 2025 Championship bow.

⚽ Meath Squad Form

Meath have come through two rounds of the Leinster Championship to earn their chance at upsetting Dublin. They beat Carlow 1-30 – 0-19, before defeating Offaly 1-25 – 0-21. Their win over Offaly was particularly impressive given the upheaval in their coaching setup just a week before the match. They came close to promotion from Division 2 in the League also and will relish a chance to put it up to the Dubs in Portlaoise.
