Shocks are not something we have been used to in the Leinster Football Championship in recent years, but 2025 has certainly given us the biggest one in any of the 4 provincial Championships. For the first time since 2011, Dublin will not win the Delaney Cup. Meath upset Dublin in a thrilling Semi-Final in Portlaoise to set up this year’s Final against local rivals Louth, who came through Kildare to make it to their third consecutive Leinster decider.
Whatever happens in Croke Park on Sunday May 11th, there will be a different name on the Cup for the first time in 14 years, so read on, as we preview the big game, and give you our 2025 Leinster SFC outright winner betting tips and overall prediction.
🏆 Leinster SFC Outright Winner Prediction
Meath and Louth last faced off against one another in a Leinster Final back in 2010. That meeting is memorable for it’s contentious ending, which has seen many brand it as one of the most controversial GAA matches ever. Meath won that day on a scoreline of 1-12 – 1-10, thanks to a late goal that was deemed to be illegal by TV replays but was given by the referee.
In 2025, Meath have reached the decider by defeating not only the 14 times consecutive champions Dublin, 0-23 – 1-16, in the Semi-Final, but also, Offaly, by 1-25 – 0-21 in the Quarterfinal, and Carlow, 1-30 -0-19, in the Preliminary round. The Royal County’s ability to kick 2 pointers has been a particular highlight of Robbie Brennan’s side’s run to the Final.
Louth for their part have reached their 3rd Leinster Final in a row. Unlike 2023 and 2024, they will not have to face Dublin but will instead have the chance to avenge their 2010 loss against Meath. Ger Brennan’s men first faced Laois in the Quarterfinal, beating the Midlanders on a scoreline of, 2-16 – 0-17. They next faced Kildare in their Leinster Semi-Final meeting. This was a close fought affair, with the Wee County emerging in the end by a goal, 1-18 -0-18.
Louth and Meath faced off earlier in the year in Division 2 of the National League, with Louth winning that one, and that is what we would expect again. With that in mind, our Final prediction is for a narrow Louth victory, to earn the County their first Leinster title since 1957.
🔮 Leinster SFC Outright Odds – Bookmarker Favourites
2 points separated them back in the 2010 Leinster Final, while 5 points was the winning margin in their League game back in March, which suggests a tight affair when the sides clash in the 2025 Leinster Final on May 11th. The latest outright winner odds below back this up, as there is nothing between the two counties with Ireland’s best betting sites ahead of the game.

Meath – 2.05 Odds to Win
Nothing separates the two teams in the outright betting odds for the 2025 Leinster Final. This is because there appears to be little between the sides heading into the game at Croke Park. Meath are slight favourites with many sportsbooks on the match bet ahead of the game, so if you fancy having a bet on Meath winning the match, you can get a price of 2.05 with Lunubet.
Louth – 2.08 Odds to Win
Louth could argue their recent form in the Leinster Championship should make them favourites for the Leinster Final, but Meath’s win over Dublin in the Semi-Final has changed this. Louth have qualified for their 3rd successive Leinster decider, and will feel confident of beating Meath, given the form they showed against the Royal County during the League. The match bet has Louth as slight underdogs ahead of this one, so if you fancy the Wee County to stand tall over Meath, you can get a price of 2.08 with Lunubet on Ger Brennan’s team.

🏁 Review of Leinster SFC 2024 Championships
The 2024 Leinster Championship saw Dublin win their 14th consecutive Delaney Cup. The side from the capital beat Louth for the second successive year, on a scoreline of, 1-19 – 2-12. Dublin began their 2024 Leinster campaign with a big win over old rivals Meath, 3-19 - 0-12, before dismantling Offaly in their Semi-Final, 3-22 – 0-11. Louth on the other hand beat Wexford 4-10 – 0-15 in their opening game. They then faced Kildare in the Sem-Final. This proved a much closer affair, with Louth emerging with a 0-17 – 0-13 win, to book their 2024 Leinster Final place.
In the Final, Louth pushed their much more illustrious opponents very hard until a strong final quarter from Dublin gave Dessie Farrell’s men a 4-point win over Louth. Sam Mulroy, Conor Grimes and Craig Lennon all shone for Louth as they put in a brave showing against the Dubs, that frustrated the defending champions for large periods. It was not until a Con O’Callaghan goal in the 55th minute, that the Dubs really put a gap between themselves and Louth.
Further points from Con, Paddy Small and Cormac Costelloe had Dublin winning by 7, before Louth deservedly hit the last score of the game through a Craig Lennon goal. The win saw Dublin win their 63rd Leinster title, and 14th in a row.
