On Sunday, April 19th, Kildare will entertain Laois in the fourth and final Leinster Senior Football Championship quaterfinal.
These two sides contested the 2003 Leinster Championship final, with Laois prevailing by just three points. However, Kildare have won 10 of the pair’s 17 championship or league matches since, while they’ll have home advantage at St Conleth's Park too. We’ll preview the latest encounter below, while also offering our own Kildare v Laois prediction.
🏆 Kildare vs Laois Prediction
Kildare endured a torrid National League campaign in 2026, just twelve months after their promotion to Division Two. After taking three points from their opening two games in the second tier, the Lilywhites lost five consecutive matches, including a final-day defeat to Louth that confirmed their immediate return to Division 3.
Kildare’s biggest issues were in defence, as they shipped 165 points in their seven matches at an average of 23.5 per game. This undermined their offensive efforts, with Brian McLoughlin leading the line superbly and contributing 1-27 (30) over the course of the season.
The Lilywhites will face Laois in Division 3 next season, after the O'Moore County produced a series of inconsistent National League performances through 2026. They failed to secure successive victories all season, while they lost three of their four matches on the road and only scored a total of 131 points at a rate of 18.7 per game.
Laois potential lack of firepower and poor away form is a concern here, although they did manage to win at Offaly in Tullamore in a preliminary round clash last weekend. Kildare also prevailed by 12 points in Newbridge when the two sides met in last season’s National League, and our Kildare vs Laois match prediction is that the Lilywhites will triumph once again.
OUR PREDICTION: 🏆 KILDARE TO WIN 🏆
💯 Kildare vs Laois Betting Odds
BoyleSports have priced Kildare at 1.40 in the 1x2 market. These odds imply a 71.4% probability of a win for the Lillywhites, who have a favourable head-to-head record against Laois and a more potent attack.
As for the O'Moore County, they can be backed at 3.50 to win with BoyleSports. These odds imply a 28.6% win probability for Laois, which may be a little high given their recent offensive output and lack of form on the road.
The draw can be backed at 8.50, implying an 11.8% probability of the match ending tied after 70 minutes. You’ll find a summary of the latest Kildare v Laois odds from Ireland’s top online bookmakers below.
✔️ Kildare vs Laois Betting Tips
Each of the brands covered in our bookmaker reviews offer a range of GAA match betting markets, including 1x2, handicaps and winning margin lines. We’ve shopped lines across these markets to create some high value Kildare v Laois betting tips.
- Tip 1: Pick Kildare to Win With a -3 Point Handicap: Although provincial matches between these two sides are few and far between, Kildare and Laois have met five times in all competitions since the summer of 2017. The Lilywhites have won four of these by a combined margin of 44 points at an average of 11.0 per game. This run includes the 12-point National League win last season, which saw the points shared out among 11 players. This highlights the depth of Kildare’s attacking options, and there’s definitely value in backing the Lilywhites to win with a nominal handicap of -3 points a 1.91 with BoyleSports.
- Tip 2: Back Laois to Lead at Half-Time: Laois led in four of their seven Division 3 matches this season, even registering six points in just 16 minutes in their victory over table-toppers Down. Kildare shipped 25 and 17 points in their most recent first halves against Cork and Louth respectively, before their fitness and conditioning helped them to improve in the second 35 minutes of both matches. So, consider backing Laois / Kildare in the half-time / full-time market this weekend, at enhanced odds of 6.00 with BoyleSports.
- Tip 3: Consider the Draw as a High-Risk Bet: If Laois do start well in Newbridge and are able to open up a first-half lead, they’ll have something to defend in the second period. Interestingly, they conceded just 130 points in their seven NL games at a rate of 18.5 per game this season, so their defensive structure is arguably the team’s greatest strength under coach Justin McNulty. So, there may be value in backing an outright Laois win or the match to be tied in normal time at odds of 8.50 with BoyleSports. This is a particularly good use of any free bets that you have access to.
🥇 Kildare Squad Form
While Kildare are currently embarked on a run of five successive defeats in all competitions, they have at least recorded 10 victories in their previous 17 competitive matches against Laois (58.8%).
This includes the aforementioned recent run of four wins out of five, three of which have been achieved by a margin of 12+ points.
Although Kildare continue to struggle with injuries and absentees, influential captain Kevin Feely is close to full fitness as he recovers from a muscle complaint. He may even be available to start from the bench this weekend.
⚽Laois Squad Form
Laois have only beaten their provincial rivals once in all competitions since 2017, with this victory coming in the 2024 Tailteann Cup quarter-final. Here, the O’Moore County triumphed by five points and brought about the dismissal of Kildare manager Glenn Ryan after a challenging 12 months.
Justin McNulty’s side failed to defeat either of the relegated sides in D3 in this season’s National League, but they did beat divisional champions Down on the road.
They also overcame third-place Westmeath by nine points in Portlaoise, at least highlighting their ability to compete against in-form, higher quality opposition.
👕 Kildare vs Laois Predicted Lineups
Laois were also impressive when running in three goals and 21 points during their win over Offaly in the Leinster opener last weekend. They’re expected to field a largely unchanged side in the quarter-final too. Here’s a summary of our predicted lineups for the upcoming Kildare vs Laois Leinster football match.
