The Leinster Senior Hurling Championship bursts into action this weekend with the first set of games in the round-robin stage. Antrim are rank outsiders for the Leinster crown, and the Saffrons will be travelling south to face Wexford on Saturday afternoon, hoping to stage a repeat of their 2024 heroics when they were two-point winners on home soil in Corrigan Park. We've got our Wexford v Antrim prediction below and, on balance of probability, it will require a leap of faith to envisage the northern county staging a repeat win in Chadwicks Wexford Park.

🏆 Wexford v Antrim Prediction

Antrim picked up two Leinster Senior Hurling Championship wins last season, adding a six-point win over Carlow to their shock success against Wexford in round two. They appear up against it now, however, based on the Wexford v Antrim odds for this opening salvo in the race for Leinster glory. Keith Rossiter's Model County enjoyed a decent spring in Division 1A of the Allianz Hurling League despite getting relegated, picking up two wins, including turning over Limerick in the Gaelic Grounds in March. Antrim, meanwhile, finished fifth in Division 1B, good enough to take care of strugglers Laois and Westmeath but well shy against the better sides in the division, which is why our Wexford v Antrim betting tips are focused on the home side prevailing on Saturday.

OUR PREDICTION: 🏆 Wexford TO WIN 🏆

💯 Wexford v Antrim Betting Odds

The latest Wexford v Antrim odds with the best betting sites are suggesting that the Slaneysiders will make home advantage count. Wexford were left stunned by that defeat in Belfast 12 months ago, but they recovered their momentum and went on to reach the All-Ireland preliminary quarter-finals by finishing above Galway in the table. Antrim continue to struggle against elite opponents, and more of the same is in store for the Saffrons this season, it seems. Many bookmakers are offering varied odds for this Leinster SHC tussle, so why not consult our detailed sportsbooks reviews before deciding where to place your GAA bets?

✔️ Wexford v Antrim Betting Tips

Antrim collected two wins in the Leinster Championship last season, stunning Wexford and accounting for Carlow, but they will do well to come anywhere near repeating that feat now. They lost their three games by 32 points, 20 points and 14 points in the round robin last season to Kilkenny, Dublin and Galway, respectively. Wexford should overcome a handicap of eight points without much fuss on Saturday.

Given the manner of those losses in Leinster action last time around, the price of 4.50 with BoyleSports for Wexford to win by 16 points or more is then tempting. Both of Antrim's away games in the Championship last season would have seen that bet come up. In league action this spring, Antrim suffered losses by 18 against Waterford, 15 when they faced Offaly and 14 against Dublin.

Wexford will be hungry for a quick start, and Model County will also want some revenge for that Corrigan Park upset a year ago, so don't expect them to ease off on the scoreboard. Kevin Foley was Wexford's goalscorer in the league win over Limerick last month, and the forward could well raise another green flag now. The experienced forward has nearly a decade behind him in purple and gold, and he should get plenty of opportunities to shoot for the goal here.

  • Tip 1: Wexford -8 points: Antrim tend to come up shy against genuine quality opposition. They lost league games this spring by 14, 15 and 18 points, and Wexford should cover an eight-point handicap now.
  • Tip 2: Wexford to win 16 points or more: The Slaneysiders would not have enjoyed the giant-killing act when Antrim defeated them 12 months ago in Corrigan Park. Revenge will be a motivator, and it's unlikely they will ease off on the scoreboard even if they have complete control.
  • Tip 3: Kevin Foley to score a goal: Rapparees clubman Kevin Foley has lots of experience in a Wexford shirt and found the net in last month's win over Limerick in the Gaelic Grounds. He's taken to hit another three-pointer now and could be some value in that market for some of the free bets offered on the GAA action this weekend.

📈 Wexford Squad Form

Manager Kevin Rossiter will have had this game pencilled in the calendar for some time. His side was given a bloody nose by Antrim last spring but recovered to make the All-Ireland series. Wexford enjoyed a solid spring in the Allianz League after a slow start and will know that getting home wins on the board is key to their Leinster hopes this season.

Consistency is going to be the key for Wexford this season, something they have struggled with in recent seasons. Well beaten in their first three matches against Cork, Tipperary, and Kilkenny, the second half of their league campaign was much more impressive as they beat Clare and Limerick and ran Galway to two points. Lee Chin is back from his travels and is a key component for Wexford.

🔁 Antrim Squad Form

Former Clare, Wexford, and Waterford boss Davy Fitzgerald replaced Darren Gleeson as Antrim boss in the off-season. Fitzgerald was given a two-year term, with an option of a third year, and it is going to be interesting to see what manifests for the Saffrons in his maiden Championship journey.
