The meeting of Galway and Dublin in Round 4 of the 2026 Leinster Senior Hurling Championship could be the vital game for both so far in this year’s championship. Galway will be looking for the win to secure their spot in this year’s Leinster final, while for Dublin an away win in Galway would all but secure their final spot and leave Kilkenny, Offaly and Wexford scrambling for 3rd place.

The match will be shown live on GAA+, and in this Galway v Dublin preview we will share our thoughts ahead of what could be a huge match. From the latest Galway v Dublin betting odds to our very own Galway v Dublin prediction, we have you covered, so read on as we look forward to Round 4 of the 2026 Leinster Hurling Championship.

🪄 Galway vs Dublin Prediction

Galway head into this Round 4 clash on 6 points after three wins from three in this year’s Leinster Championship. Dublin, for their part, sit in 2nd place after their away win in Wexford in round 3, on 5 points from their opening three matches.

Micheál Donoghue’s Galway team have looked like the most balanced and impressive team in Leinster so far this year, and we expect their winning run to continue on May 16th. With that in mind, our Galway v Dublin prediction is for a home win to clinch Galway’s place in this year’s Leinster final.

The Tribesmen have hit 9-73 up to now with a great spread of scorers across their squad, with Aaron Niland, Rory Burke and Jason Rabbitte all contributing greatly to aid proven stalwarts Cathal Mannion and Conor Whelan. Their lack of intensity and their defensive lapses in the first half against Kildare might be a concern for Donoghue moving forward, but their second-half fightback showed an improved mental resilience in this Galway side, and their bench proved that their panel is as deep as it has been in a number of years.

Dublin’s away win over Wexford was a significant victory for Niall Ó Ceallacháin’s team, as it has put them in a great place with two games to go. Their defensive structure was sound for the most part, assisted by the return of Liam Rushe to the heart of the Dubs defence, while up front Donal Burke was vital to the Sky Blues getting scores on the board. Burke hit 0-15 points and was outstanding from frees and from play, while Cian O’Sullivan chipped in with 1-3.

Dublin have looked far more threatening in attack than they have in previous seasons, but the big question heading into this match is whether they can curb the physical power Galway will look to impose on them at home. We don’t think they will be able to do it consistently enough over the 70 minutes, and combined with Galway’s threat inside, it may just be enough for Galway to claim a priceless home win.

OUR PREDICTION: GALWAY TO WIN

⚡⚡ Galway vs Dublin Betting Tips

At this stage of our Galway v Dublin preview we are going to suggest three Galway v Dublin betting tips that may be useful for those with any free bets to use on the match.

Before having a bet on this or any match throughout the year, why not first check out our specialised bookmaker reviews page? Here, lots of information about many of the top betting sites can be found.

  • Tip 1: Dublin +4: We expect Galway to win the match on May 16th, but going on the previous 3 meetings between the teams, there shouldn’t be much in it. Dublin actually beat Galway the last time they visited Salthill in the championship, winning by 6 points, but this looks to be a different Galway side this season. Galway are our pick to win the match but not by much. If you agree, you can back Dublin + 4 in the handicap betting market at a price of 1.91 with BoyleSports.

  • Tip 2: Conor Whelan to score a goal anytime: Whelan looked extremely dangerous in Galway’s win over Kildare in Round 3 just when his county needed him. A shaky opening half to the match left Galway trailing into the second half, but an increased intensity, ably assisted by scoring from the likes of Whelan and Tom Monaghan, meant Galway won in the end. Whelan hit 1-3, and his team may need something similar from their star man against Dublin in Salthill.

  • Tip 3: Rory Burke to score a goal anytime: What a 2026 Rory Burke is having in a Galway shirt so far. Burke has scored 4-7 in his debut championship season and looks to be a real star already for the Tribesmen. Galway and Dublin have scored 16 goals in their respective matches so far, and we expect there to be plenty more on May 16th. If there is, it will be no surprise to see Burke raising a green flag or two.

🔮 Galway Squad Form

Micheál Donoghue made 4 changes to his Galway side against Kildare, but it needed a strong second-half showing and plenty of impact from the bench to get the job done in the end against the rank outsiders. Conor Whelan and Rory Burke were to the fore scoring-wise, as was second-half sub Tom Monaghan, who chipped in with 1-4.

✨Dublin Squad Form

Dublin picked up a crucial away win over Wexford in Round 3, with Donal Burke and Cian O’Sullivan contributing 1-18 of their 2-21 total. Niall Ó Ceallacháin made two changes from the Round 2 win for the trip to Wexford, with the most striking change the reintroduction of Liam Rushe to the Dublin starting 15.

🎈Galway vs Dublin Predicted Lineups

Both sides have had 3 games in this year’s Leinster Championship. To give you an idea of the lineups in their forthcoming clash, we have listed their respective teams from their Round 3 matches. We should expect changes, however, especially to the Galway side, who may bring back Aaron Niland and Jason Rabbitte, who missed the Kildare win.
