Kilkenny started their Leinster SHC campaign with a comprehensive win over an unusually tame Galway side last weekend, while Antrim eventually came up well short on their travels at Wexford.
The Cats head for Belfast this coming weekend and manager Derek Lyng should see another straightforward win for his side. Antrim and Davy Fitzgerald meanwhile must try and regroup as the face a side going for six-in-a-row in the province.
🏆 Antrim v Kilkenny Prediction
Davy Fitzgerald got on the wrong side of the referee Colm Lyons in Wexford last weekend, the Antrim boss losing his cool, and his Saffron side may be picking a fight they cannot win now as Kilkenny venture north. Given the Cats were imperious against Galway, any Antrim v Kilkenny prediction for this round 2 tussle with have to focus on victory for the away side.
Kilkenny had their share of injury woes last weekend, with TJ Reid missing out, but they still had far too many guns for the Tribesmen as they ran out winners by 12 points in Nowlan Park. We have scoured the best betting sites ahead of this Corrigan Park showdown and it looks set up for the travelling Cats to run up another big win on the scoreboard.
OUR PREDICTION: 🏆 KILKENNY TO WIN 🏆
💯 Antrim v Kilkenny Betting Odds
Kilkenny are the away side but they are overwhelming favourites and it would be a seismic shock if Antrim could pull of a first Leinster Senior Championship win over the Black and Amber since 1943. This is the first of two really tough home encounters for the home side in Corrigan Park, with Dublin next up, and the Saffrons looks set already for a really difficult run in the provincial series as the Antrim v Kilkenny odds show.
Kilkenny will be expected to overcome a chunky handicap, with the line drawn generally at 14.5 points in terms of headstart for the home side for betting purposes. ✔️ Antrim v Kilkenny Betting Tips
Kilkenny were efficient in their scoring against Galway last weekend, tallying 3-24 in Nowlan Park as they had a dozen to spare over a disappointing visiting side. It's hard to imagine their winning margin won't be a good bit north of that when they make the trip to Belfast to face an Antrim side that gained an early penalty against Wexford last week and also had a numerical advantage for a large part of the contest but, ultimately, came up 11 points shy in Chadwicks Wexford Park. We start the Antrim v Kilkenny betting tips by predicting a wide-margin success for the Cats.
Eoin Cody to score a goal anytime looks a sound betting play. He helped himself to 1-05 in the win over Galway and the Ballyhale Shamrocks forward should have a field day against Antrim. He's got every chance of rising double figures on the scoreboard and can be expected to raise a second green flag in the Leinster Championship. Cian Kenny got a couple of points from the middle of the field for Kilkenny against Galway and he can add significantly to that tally in Belfast in a contest where the Cats should run up a high tally.
- Tip 1: Kilkenny -16 points: Given how their respective opening weekends went, it is Kilkenny that will approach this in confident mood. They are a class apart from Antrim and a long afternoon is in store for the home side.
- Tip 2: Eoin Cody anytime goalscorer: Eoin Cody looked sharp against Galway and is fancied to double his Leinster SHC goal tally for the season at the first attempt.
- Tip 3: Cian Kenny to score over 3.5 points: The James Stephens clubman made his inter-county debut in 2022 and is a key component for Kilkenny now. He hit a brace last week and should add to that now.
📈 Antrim Squad Form
After a trying Allianz League and that opening reverse in Wexford, Antrim will really have to pick up the pieces in quite some fashion as they brace themselves for the visits of last year’s provincial finalists, Kilkenny and Dublin, to West Belfast. Davy Fitzgerald would have been licking his lips when Wexford picked up a first-half red card last weekend but, by the midpoint of the second half, his side were all but out of the game. Gerard Walsh, Keelan Molloy, James McNaughton and the Elliotts, Nigel and Seann, were standout performers in the Wexford but this is a much more searching examination for the Saffrons.
⚽ Kilkenny Squad Form
Kilkenny eased to victory last Saturday despite encountering some injury problems. TJ Reid, scorer of over 700 points during his career to date, was lost to injury before the game and then Adrian Mullen and Shane Murphy suffered ankle and leg injuries respectively during the first-half as they hobbled off. Derek Lyng's side made light of those setback in a 12-point win.
Any thoughts Antrim might have that the Cats will take their eye off the ball were soon quashed as Lyng suggested: "We've got lads that came in today, we've got lads that are working on the 26. It's a panel game now". "Big game up in Belfast next week, so we have to get ready for that now." Fionan Mackessy impressed in his Championship debut last week and will want to kick on now.

✒️ Antrim v Kilkenny - H2H Stats
The Antrim v Kilkenny H2H stats make for grim reading for the Saffrons. All the way back in 1943 they stunned Kilkenny at Corrigan Park but in more recent years, they have been a punching bag for the Noirsiders. What channel is Antrim v Kilkenny on? The Leinster Championship didn't quite match its Munster counterpart for fireworks during the opening weekend and the prospect of Kilkenny dishing out a hefty defeat to hosts Antrim means it's unlikely to ignite in Corrigan Park. The Cats were purring against Galway last week and are going to be hard to defeat as they bid for seven straight Leinster titles.
