The 2024 Leinster Hurling Championship will come to a dramatic conclusion this weekend, with four of the six competing teams still in contention to reach the provincial final (and All-Ireland SHC). The numerous permutations are also convoluted, but broadly speaking, a win for either Galway or Dublin at the former’s Pearse Stadium will see them book their place in the Leinster final. ‘The Tribesmen’ defeated Dublin by eight points in an Allianz Division 1B clash on March 10th, in a fierce contest that saw four red cards and 11 yellows. This match could be similarly ferocious in front of an impassioned Galway crowd, but who do Ireland’s best betting sites think will prevail?
🏆Galway vs Dublin Leinster Hurling Prediction
These two teams have virtually identical records after four Leinster matches, having both won twice, lost just once and amassed five points. Currently, they’re only separated in the table on the basis of points difference, while it should be noted that the Dubs only finished one place and three points behind Galway in Division 1B of the National League this year.
Clearly, there’s little to choose between these two teams, although Galway have prevailed in five of their previous eight competitive meetings with Dublin since February 2018. The Dubs have won twice during this sequence, although their last victory in this fixture came in the provincial semi-finals on July 3rd, 2021.
The Tribesmen also boast a slightly more varied and effective attack, with both Evan Niland (0-24) and Conor Cooney (2-22) starring during the provincial games so far. Gavin Lee has also been in red-hot form in front of goal, hitting 3-6 to support his fellow forwards. Galway also outscored the Dubs by a whopping 39 points during the National League, despite the efforts of Cian O'Sullivan (1-28) and Donal Burke (1-17).
Burke also has 1-41 in his four Leinster matches to date, but Dublin are arguably a little too reliant on the Na Fianna forward. The Dubs's defence is also a concern after they finished with a negative goal difference of -23 points in Allianz Division 1B, conceding 33 against Tipperary and 39 against Limerick (both of these matches ended in defeat).
This defensive vulnerability could prove seminal against Galway’s often relentless attack, while the Tribesmen are unbeaten at the Pearse Stadium in all competitions in 2024. So, I’m tipping Galway to prevail here, booking their place in the Leinster final and leaving Dublin sweating on their place in the All-Ireland SHC.
My Prediction:🏆Galway to win!
💯Galway vs Dublin Leinster Championship Odds
Before you engage in hurling betting, you’ll want to understand the best value range of markets and wager types. Given the star quality likely to be on show at the Pearse Stadium, play prop betting will be particularly popular, especially if you want to back the first, last or anytime goalscorer. You can also engage in handicap betting and wager on the eventual winning margin, which can help to create additional value when picking a winner.
Galway vs Dublin: Match Winner
When it comes to the win market, Galway are the pre-game favourites at an average price of 1.28. These odds imply a 78.12% probability of a home victory. Conversely, you can back the Dubs to triumph on the road and book their place in the Leinster final at around 4.33, suggesting that they have a 23.09% chance of prevailing. Just one of the previous eight head-to-head encounters have ended in a draw, so this outcome is the least likely statistically and priced as high as 12.00. This implies just an 8.33% probability of the match ending tied.

✔️Galway vs Dublin - Betting Tips
Galway are the heavy betting favourites to defeat their opponents this weekend, but their pre-game odds arguably don’t reflect the quality that exists within the Dubs side. So, I’ve prepared some expert betting tips to help you identify the best value betting markets and make the most of any
free bets that you may have!
- : Tip 1: Back Galway to Win by Between 4 and 6 Points: Galway's last five victories over Dublin have been by a combined margin of 27 points, at an average of 5.4 points per game. Interestingly, their eight-point victory in the National League earlier this season was their biggest during this sequence, with the excellent Conor Cooney shooting 0-11 with 10 frees. So, although I expect the upcoming Leinster clash to be a little closer given the magnitude of the occasion, there's considerable value in backing Galway to win by between 4 and 6 points at the enhanced price of 4.75 with BoyleSports.
- Tip 2: Back Galway to Win with a Handicap of -5 Points: If you want to back Galway at an enhanced price but don't want to predict a precise winning margin, handicap wagering may offer a more flexible alternative. In this case, applying a handicap of -5 points to Galway is particularly appealing, especially given the Tribesmen's average winning margin vs Dublin since 2018 and the fact that the side is unbeaten at home in 2024. You can get on this at the competitive price of 2.00 with 888 Sports.
- Tip 3: Back Gavin Lee as an Anytime Goalscorer: Although Evan Niland and Conor Cooney remain Galway's most dominant point scorers, right corner forward Gavin Lee has developed a real eye for goal this season. In fact, he has registered three goals in just four Leinster appearances in 2024, with his clinical finish last time out at Antrim helping his side to open an early five-point lead. Make no mistake; Lee is in a hot streak of form, so back him as an anytime goalscorer at a price of 4.00 with BoyleSports.
1️⃣ Galway Update
Not only are Galway unbeaten at home competitively in 2024, but they’ve also lost just one of their previous seven matches since a five-point defeat at Tipperary on February 11th. This sequence includes Galway’s impressive eight-point win over the Dubs on March 10th, as the Tribesmen showcased all their attacking quality and resilience to hit 10 unanswered points and turn a narrow third quarter deficit into an ultimately comfortable victory. This triumph also confirmed Galway’s promotion to the National League top flight in 2025, and there’s no doubt that they’re in excellent form and confident mood ahead of their Leinster decider.

Galway are once again sweating on the fitness of cornerback Darren Morrisey, as he continues his recovery after suffering a dislocated shoulder in the recent draw against Kilkenny. He’ll be assessed throughout the week. Kevin Cooney definitely remains sidelined with a hamstring injury, with the left corner forward not expected back until the latter stages of the All-Ireland Championship.

2️⃣ Dublin Update
Dublin’s narrow, last-gasp defeat to Kilkenny on matchday four stunned an enthralled Parnell Park, as Eoin Cody sunk a stoppage-time winner for the Cats. However, the Dubs were competitive throughout as the match was levelled nine times in total, while this loss snapped an impressive four-match unbeaten run since their aforementioned defeat to Galway on March 10th. This sequence included thumping wins over Antrim (20 points) and Westmeath (13 points), with star forward Donal Burke contributing 1-14 in these games. He has also struck 1-41 in his four Leinster appearances so far in 2024 and will be keen to add to this haul this weekend.

Ronan Hayes returned to the Dublin starting 11 against Kilkenny last time out, scoring a crucial goal after his impressive cameo from the bench against Antrim during the previous week. This means that the Dubs are now at full strength ahead of their trip to Galway, so they’ll arguably never have a better chance to record just their third win over the Tribesmen since February 2018.
