The All Ireland SHC 2025 is underway this weekend, with preliminary quarter-finals. Tipperary enter the fray following a decent effort in the Munster Championship. The Premier County will be expected to make short work of Laois in O'Moore Park.
Liam Cahill's Tipp side have emerged as a solid and progressive young side, dark horses with some of the best betting sites to win the All-Ireland. They should be a strong Laois side that was defeated by Kildare last weekend in a frustrating Joe McDonagh Cup decider.
We've assessed the hopes of both counties ahead of their Saturday showdown, and below you'll find our Laois v Tipperary betting tips.
🏆 Laois v Tipperary Prediction
Tipperary are a long-established hurling powerhouse with a track record of Munster and All-Ireland success, whereas Laois last graced an All-Ireland final 76 years ago in a bygone age. Tipperary have been tussling with Limerick, Cork and Clare in the hotbed of the Munster round robin, while Laois came up short in tier two. For that reason, our Laois v Tipperary prediction is a comfortable win for the travelling team.
OUR PREDICTION: 🏆 TIPPERARY TO WIN 🏆
Laois v Tipperary Betting Odds
The latest Laois v Tipperary betting odds suggest this is going to be a one-sided affair, with Tipp quoted at the minimum odds. If Laois were to cause an upset, it would be one of the most seismic shocks recorded in GAA history. The odds are stacked against the hosts.

Laois v Tipperary Betting Tips
Tipperary are going to have far too much class for this Laois side. The Premier County are incredibly short in the match betting. Kildare defeated Laois by 10 points last weekend, and a side like Tipp should overcome the match handicap. Shooting was a real concern for Laois in Croke Park last weekend. The half-time stats made for painful reading for them: 11 wides, five point attempts that dropped short, and a shot on goal that was saved. They won't be graced with as many opportunities now and may struggle to get beyond 20 points.
Darragh McCarthy hit 11 points against Waterford last month for Tipp. The Toomevara forward is beginning to have a significant impact on his side, and he can better that tally in a game where scoring opportunities should be frequent. His scoring prowess complements the Laois v Tipperary prediction, which could be worth considering with some of the free bets available right now.
- Tip 1: Tipperary -23.5 points: The gulf in class should be evident on the scoreboard. Tipp are likely to find this little more than a training exercise.
- Tip 2: Laois Under 20.5 points: Wayward shooting was a big problem for Laois in their loss against Kildare. They'll be placed under more scrutiny against the higher level of opponent and a low tally is forecast.
- Tip 2: Darragh McCarthy over 11.5 points: Darragh McCarthy is establishing himself at corner forward for Tipp. They are a side growing in confidence after back-to-back Championship wins for the first time since 2019, and he should have an enjoyable afternoon here.
⚽ Laois Squad Form
Laois left Croke Park last weekend with some major regrets after losing a second consecutive Joe McDonagh Cup decider. Kildare had never won a game in the second-tier event before this season, but they took full advantage of some wayward shooting from Laois to grab what eventually proved a 10-point win. For the O'Moore Park side, they have to put that behind them and quickly, with Tipperary in town this weekend for the All-Ireland preliminary quarter-final.
Laois senior hurling manager Tommy Fitzgerald admitted his side were undone by a combination of poor execution and a powerful Kildare performance. He conceded that his team didn't manage to gather themselves when things started to go wrong.
Tomas Keyes top-scored with six points, five from free, while Ben Conroy hit 1-02. All told, Laois had nine different scorers, but it ranks as a major disappointment that Kildare overpowered them, and it is a major concern heading into this Laois v Tipperary All-Ireland SHC clash.
⚽ Tipperary Squad Form
Tipp have enjoyed a four-week layoff since they took care of Waterford in the Munster Championship with a nine-point win in FBD Semple Stadium. The Premier County were the stronger side for much of that game, but Waterford closed the gap to three points by the 68th minute, and it was sub Oisín O’Donoghue’s first championship goal that safely fired Tipperary into the All-Ireland Series.
The Cashel King Cormacs star was man of the match as the Premier won the Munster U20 title four days earlier, and he'll be hoping for more game time now. Boss Liam Cahill may opt for some changes to his starting side in O'Moore Park. Despite a four-week absence, the Premier boss may also be content to name a strong team and go from there in a game his side is expected to win quite easily.

✒️ Laois v Tipperary - H2H Stats
Laois were All-Ireland Hurling champions in 1915 for the only time in their history. They last contested the decider in 1949, when Tipperary held them to three points in a facile win. The Premier County, meanwhile, are aristocrats of this game, with 28 All-Irelands on their record.
More recently, Laois put up a commendable display in the 2019 All-Ireland quarter-final in Croke Park, going down by 10 points. The Laois v Tipperary H2H doesn't offer much encouragement for the underdogs.
