Another chapter in one of the most storied rivalries in GAA will unfold on Sunday, July 6th, at Croke Park, as Kilkenny face off against Tipperary in the second of the All Ireland SHC 2025 semi-finals.
Kilkenny secured their spot in the final four by claiming yet another Leinster title, beating Galway 3-22 to 1-20 in the decider. Tipperary, who finished third in the Munster Championship, had to navigate a longer route. They first overcame Laois in a preliminary quarter-final, comfortably seeing off the Joe McDonagh runners-up, before dispatching Galway in the quarters. In a match that never quite caught fire, Tipperary ended Galway’s 2025 campaign with a 1-28 to 2-17 win in Limerick.
As we look ahead to a blockbuster weekend of hurling at GAA HQ, here’s our Kilkenny v Tipperary prediction, betting tips, and the latest odds.
🏆Kilkenny v Tipperary Prediction
To kick things off, here’s our Kilkenny v Tipperary prediction ahead of the highly anticipated All-Ireland semi-final on July 6th.
Tipperary have bounced back impressively after a dismal 2024. Liam Cahill has guided them to their first semi-final appearance since 2019, the year they claimed their 28th All-Ireland title. Their win over Galway in the quarters was their first Championship victory against the Tribesmen since 2016. That win was built on their clinical use of turnovers, with 1-14 of their 1-28 tally coming from capitalising on Galway’s errors.
Kilkenny’s journey to the semis has been more straightforward. Derek Lyng’s side captured their 77th Leinster title, comfortably beating Galway in the final. With 18 goals across six Leinster matches, Kilkenny have shown just how dangerous they can be as they aim for a 66th All-Ireland SHC Final appearance.
The Cats enter Croke Park off a four-week break, while Tipperary will have had only two weeks to recover. With so little separating the two teams, how they’ve managed their respective breaks could prove decisive.
Tipperary have made real progress this season, reaching the league final and now the Championship semis. With Clare and Limerick, who knocked them out in recent years, no longer in the picture, Kilkenny will feel confident about ending their 10-year wait for All-Ireland glory.
They’ve been impressive throughout this year’s campaign, save for a flat round-robin game against Wexford and a 15–20-minute lapse against Dublin. In that game, Kilkenny led by 13 points with 45 minutes gone, eventually winning by four. If they can rediscover the consistency shown for most of the season, Kilkenny should just about edge this latest instalment of their fierce rivalry and book a place in the Final on July 20th.
OUR PREDICTION: 🏆KILKENNY TO WIN🏆

✔️ Kilkenny v Tipperary Betting Tips
To ramp up the excitement, here are 3 Kilkenny v Tipperary betting tips worth considering ahead of the semi-final showdown at Croke Park. We’re tipping a narrow Kilkenny win in what should be a fiercely contested clash, and our tips reflect just how tight the margins could be in Dublin.
- Tip 1: Over 3.5 Goals: Kilkenny have scored 18 goals in 6 matches this season, while Tipperary have netted 11 in theirs. With attacking talent on both sides, we expect plenty of green flags on July 6th.
- Tip 2: TJ Reid to score a goal anytime: One of the all-time great forwards, TJ has already raised 5 green flags in 2025. He hit 1-4 in the Leinster Final and remains a constant threat, so Tipp’s defence will need to be on high alert.
- Tip 3: Kilkenny to win by 1–3 points: There’s likely to be very little between the teams, making the winning margin market one to watch. A narrow Kilkenny win could offer strong value.
🔔 Kilkenny Squad Form
Kilkenny have won 5 of their 6 matches in this year’s Championship. Their only defeat came against Wexford in a game that had no bearing on their place in the Leinster final. Derek Lyng’s side have been ruthless throughout the campaign, scoring 18-135 during their dominant Leinster run. As expected, TJ Reid has led the scoring charge, supported by Eoin Cody alongside Martin Keoghan and Billy Ryan.
Adrian Mullen and Huw Lawlor were standouts in the final, with Lawlor earning Man of the Match honours for a commanding performance at full-back. If these key players can hit top form again on July 6th, Kilkenny supporters will have every reason to believe in another All-Ireland final appearance.
🔔 Tipperary Squad Form
Tipperary endured a torrid 2024, finishing bottom of the Munster Championship without a single win. However, 2025 has seen a dramatic turnaround for Liam Cahill and his team, who have now booked their place in the last four at Croke Park. In Munster, Tipperary defeated Clare and Waterford and drew with Limerick, results that secured them third place in the group and a preliminary quarter-final against Laois. After comfortably beating the Joe McDonagh runners-up, they followed it up with a convincing quarter-final win over Galway.
Forwards like Jason Forde, John McGrath, and Darragh McCarthy have been instrumental in Tipp’s resurgence. Further out the field, Eoghan Connolly, Ronan Maher, and Willie Connors have also delivered strong performances. Super-sub Oisín O’Donoghue has made a notable impact, scoring goals off the bench against both Waterford and Galway.
