Clare and Dublin will look to get their seasons back on track when they face off in the first of the All Ireland SHC 2026 preliminary quarter-finals at Semple Stadium on Saturday, June 20th. James Owens will be the man in the middle for this one, with the match set to throw in at 19:00 GMT. RTÉ Sport will broadcast the match live as part of their 2026 Championship coverage.
In this preview to the match, we will look at the latest odds and team news as well as give you our very own Clare v Dublin prediction, so read on as we look forward to the beginning of this year’s All-Ireland series.
🥇 Clare vs Dublin Prediction
Dublin’s Leinster Final appearance turned into something of a horror show for Niall Ó Ceallacháin’s team as Galway ran out easy winners on a scoreline of 4-29 – 4-15. Dublin and their fans had high hopes heading into that final after their great showing in the round-robin phase, where they remained unbeaten in their five matches, but the occasion and the opposition seemed to get the better of them, and they were easily accounted for by Galway.
If they can recover from that loss and refocus their minds on the All-Ireland series, they have enough about them to turn their season around, and that is what we are predicting for the side from the capital. With that in mind, our Clare v Dublin quarter-final prediction is for a Dublin win.
Dublin were solid and consistent before their Leinster final defeat, but Clare have not really looked like a side that have won the All-Ireland as recently as 2024 during their 2026 Munster Championship campaign. Brian Lohan’s team looked off the pace against Limerick and Cork, suffering two big defeats against the current top two in Munster, and even though they did have two wins over Waterford and Tipperary, the manner of those defeats is a slight concern. Clare still had a chance of reaching the Munster Final with a win against Cork, but even with that caveat on the line, they failed to muster a performance that would give their fans any cause for optimism, losing in the end by 16 points.
Dublin have been at their best this year when they have mixed their direct game with more runners from deep like Brian Hayes and Fergal Whitely, but against Galway they seemed to be too focused on just hitting the ball long, hoping John Hetherton and Ronan Hayes would do something. If they can get back to playing the way they were in the round-robin, they will be a serious threat to Clare. Clare, for their part, may have underwhelmed many so far, but with the likes of Tony Kelly, Shane O’Donnell and Diarmuid Strich, amongst others, at their disposal, they certainly have enough to beat Dublin if they find some consistency.
Clare have actually beaten Dublin twice already in the league this year, but they were close affairs, and despite their Leinster final loss, we think the Dubs have made sufficient progress to make it third time lucky against Clare this year.
OUR PREDICTION: DUBLIN TO WIN

⚡ Clare vs Dublin Betting Tips
At this stage of our big match preview, we are going to give you three Clare v Dublin betting tips. Whether you have some free bets to use on the match or just fancy having a wager on this quarter-final, hopefully some of these tips will be of some use as we countdown to this Clare v Dublin quarter-final.
Remember, before having a bet, why not check out our bookmaker reviews page? Here, you can find out even more information about some of Ireland’s best betting sites.
- Tip 1: Dublin to Win: Clare are favourites to win this quarter-final against Dublin, but we think the team from the capital can revive their season with a win in Thurles. They had shown great consistency up to that final, but we are willing to give them the benefit of the doubt that it was a one-off against Galway and that they will return to more like the form they showed against Kilkenny and Galway in their first match. Clare have not exactly set the world alight this year, and if the Dubs can play like they were, there is no reason why they can’t qualify for their second successive All-Ireland semi-final. To back Dublin, you can get a price of 4.00 with Festivalplay ahead of the clash on June 20th.
- Tip 2: Dublin +5: We think Dublin will get the win, but to cover your bases, why not take a look at the handicap betting market for this match on June 20th? The teams have played twice in 2026, with Clare defeating Dublin by 2 and 3 points, respectively, in those two matches.
The handicap mark for Dublin in this match is currently +5 and if you think the Dubs can beat that mark, you can get a price of 1.91 with BoyleSports.
- Tip 3: Brian Hayes to be an anytime goal scorer: Hayes has hit 2 goals in the Leinster Championship this season and is at his best when he is making those late runs and creating or finishing off moves. He was only able to sporadically make those rampaging runs against Galway in the Leinster final, but if Dublin can mix up their tactics more to free up their runners from deep, Hayes may be able to make an even bigger impact on the scoresheet against Clare.
🧨 Clare Squad Form
Mark Rodgers and Ryan Taylor both missed Clare’s disappointing final round-robin Munster Championship match due to injury, while Darragh Lohan had to be replaced early in the first half as they suffered a heavy defeat against Cork. Clare finished third in the Munster Championship behind Cork and Limerick, losing to both but beating Tipperary and Waterford to seal their place in the quarter-final.
🎯 Dublin Squad Form
Dublin were unbeaten in the Leinster Championship before their Leinster final loss to Galway. That has brought questions to Niall Ó Ceallacháin ahead of this quarter-final, questions he and his players need to find the answers to. The Dublin manager was forced to replace Liam Rushe and Chris Crummey during the Leinster final, two players he will be desperate to have available as they enter the All-Ireland series.
🔮Clare vs Dublin Predicted Lineups
Dublin’s last game was a disappointing Leinster final defeat to Galway on June 6th, while Clare’s final Munster Championship match was that 16-point drubbing against Cork on May 24th.
Below you will find the starting teams that both managers put out in their team’s last matches.
