Galway will renew rivalries with Tipperary on Saturday, June 21st, at 18:15 when the two counties face off in their 2025 All-Ireland SHC quarterfinal. Micheál Donaghue’s Galway side will head into the clash against an improving Tipperary team as underdogs with many Irish bookmakers after a disappointing 3-22 – 1-20 Leinster Final loss to Kilkenny. Tipperary, for their part, finished 3rd in the Munster Championship, qualifying for a preliminary quarterfinal, which they won convincingly against Laois.
As we look forward to what will hopefully be another classic between the two teams, we have everything you need to know in preparation for the match. From the latest Galway v Tipperary betting odds to some tips to point you in the right direction if you are having a bet, we have you covered. We will even give you our very own Galway v Tipperary prediction, so read on as we look forward to Saturday’s match.
🏆 Galway v Tipperary Prediction
Narrow winning margins have become customary between Galway and Tipperary in Championship hurling over recent years, and this one could be no different. The two teams have thrown up some classics in their previous meetings, and given the importance of this clash, we are hopefully in for another as we reach the quarterfinal stages.
Tipperary are justly favourites for this meeting, given the scale of some of their wins and performances so far this year. They drew with Limerick and managed to beat Clare and Waterford in this year’s Munster Championship. Those results earned them 3rd place in Munster and a place in the preliminary quarterfinals against Laois. They proved far too strong for Laois, thus earning their shot at Galway in Limerick.
Galway, on the other hand, has had a mixed Championship. Their results against Wexford and Dublin may have brought optimism to Micheál Donaghue’s second coming as boss, but their Leinster Championship was bookended by disastrous results against Kilkenny.
Tipperary have shown fight and a willingness not to wilt under pressure so far in this year’s Championship. Allied with the obvious quality they have in their team, the Premier County look like they are moving in the right direction this year. These capabilities mean our Galway v Tipperary prediction is a Tipp win and a place in the 2025 All-Ireland SHC semi-finals.
OUR PREDICTION: 🏆 TIPPERARY TO WIN 🏆

✔️ Galway v Tipperary Betting Tips
Tipperary have stepped up in 2025 and are now seen as a viable dark horse by many for this year’s Championship. They go into their quarterfinal meeting with Galway as favourites, and rightly so, given the improvements they have made in 2025. They should prove too strong for a Galway side that goes into the game after another Kilkenny loss. Our 3 Galway v Tipperary betting tips, therefore, reflect the fact that we believe Tipperary will win and book their spot in the last 4 of this year’s All-Ireland SHC.
- Tip 1: Tipperary to Win: Galway may have won the last 3 meetings between the sides in the Championship, but Liam Cahill’s men have looked the more impressive of the two counties this year. They are justifiably favourites for the match and should prove too strong for Galway on June 21st.
- Tip 2: John McGrath anytime goal scorer: McGrath has hit 4 goals already in this Championship. He hit 2 goals against Limerick before finding the net twice again against Clare in their vital Munster win in the 2024 All-Ireland championship. Galway have conceded 13 goals in this year’s Championship already, so the Tipperary forwards will certainly fancy their chances of making an impact in this quarterfinal clash.
- Tip 3: Galway to beat the handicap: The largest margin of victory either county has enjoyed in any of the last 5 meetings between the teams is 2 points, so expect another close tussle in Limerick on Saturday. Galway may be underdogs, but they will no doubt look to throw everything at Tipperary with their 2025 Championship hopes on the line.
⚽ Galway Squad Form
Galway enter the All-Ireland series off the back of another defeat against Kilkenny in the Leinster Championship. Micheál Donaghue’s men finished 2nd in the League Phase, finishing up with 4 wins from their 5 matches. Their only defeats in the Championship have come against Kilkenny, with their Leinster Final defeat particularly disappointing for the Tribesmen.
The 2017 All-Ireland winners will need the likes of Cathal Mannion, Padraic Mannion, Daithí Burke, and Conor Whelan to step up against Tipperary if they are to have any chance of causing a minor upset when the sides meet in Limerick on Saturday.
⚽ Tipperary Squad Form
Tipperary have made great strides under Liam Cahill in 2025, after a disastrous 2024 Championship. They made it to the league final, losing to Cork on a scoreline of 3-24 – 0-23. That heavy defeat did not set them back. The team managed to finish 3rd in the 2025 Munster Championship. The highlight of their Munster campaign was undoubtedly their 4-18 – 2-27 win over Clare in a must-win Round 3 match in Cusack Park.
They then faced Laois in their preliminary quarterfinal on June 14th. An easy 3-32 – 0-18 win in Portlaoise means Tipperary can look forward to a clash with Galway on June 21st. Darragh McCarthy, Jason Forde and John McGrath once again excelled for the Premier County, hitting 2-17, while Willie Connors was also to the fore in midfield.
