📆 When Will the Qatar Nassau Stakes 2022 Take Place?

The Nassau Stakes is a Group 1 race that is open to fillies and mares that are three years old or more. Like with the majority of horse races nowadays, there is a handicap system to make sure that things are as fair as possible. While there are a number of horse races that have a consistent number of runners whenever the race takes place, this is not the case with the Nassau Stakes as it can have anywhere between five and ten participants. The 2022 Goodwood Festival will take place from the 26-30th of July, and the Nassau Stakes will be the first race on day three of this event. Below we are going to give you some useful advice for betting on this race, so be sure to read on.

🔍 Qatar Nassau Stakes Betting Tips for 2022

The title of this 1 mile, 1 furlong and 197 yards race is one that acknowledges the friendship that existed between the House of Orange-Nassau and the 5th Duke of Richmond, who used to own the Goodwood Racecourse. The first race was run in 1840, and it was originally only open to three-year-old fillies. During the start of its history, it was a 1-mile race, but this was extended to 1 1/2 miles in 1990, before it was shortened to its current length in 1911. In 1975, it was opened to fillies and mares, and it was given Group 1 status in 1999.

Qatar are the current sponsors of this flat race, which is why it is currently known as the Qatar Nassau Stakes, and it comes with a huge prize pot of £600,000 - the winner of this race will walk away with around £340,000. This race is always scheduled to run on Day 3 of the Glorious Goodwood festival, and it is one that you do not want to miss, so make sure you set yourself a reminder for it in your mobile.

One of the main aspects of horse racing that makes it such an entertaining sport to watch and place bets on is the fact that not all racecourses are the same. This means that jockeys need to make sure that they have different skills if they want to be successful at different horse racing events. The Goodwood racetracks are some of the trickiest ones around, and this is why you should always think about putting your money on a horse that has a really experienced jockey on its back.

With regard to huge events at the Glorious Goodwood Festival, it is fair to say that the Nassau Stakes is one of the biggest ones, as can be seen from its prize pot. There would definitely not be a prize pot of £600,000 if this race was considered to be a minor one. However, you might be surprised to hear that it is not the biggest race that is going to be run at the 2022 Glorious Goodwood Festival. Nope, the title of biggest race goes to the Qatar Sussex Stakes that has a prize fund of £1 million.

There are many novice horse racing bettors out there that make the mistake of believing that the stall that a horse begins the race in does not make a blind bit of difference. However, while this seems to be the case for some races, it is certainly not the case for the Nassau Stakes. If you look at the previous 12 races going back to 2010, you will see that the horse that started in stall six has gone on to win four times - this is something that you should keep in mind when you are thinking about placing a bet on this race.

Below we have given you some Nassau Stakes tips and stats that we feel will be really useful to think about when you are deciding on a horse to back.

  • The fastest winning time for this race is 2:02.93 and this was set by Deirdre in 2019 who was ridden by Oisin Murphy and trained by Mitsuru Hashida. On the other end of the spectrum, the slowest winning time in this race of 2:11.79 was set by Winter, who was trained by A P O'Brien and ridden by Ryan Moore
  • The leading trainer in this history of this race was Sir Henry Cecil, who won it eight times between 1975 and 2011. Since 2011, there have been two trainers who have had plenty of success in this race and these are John Gosden and Aidan O'Brien - the former has won it three times, while the latter has won it twice. Thus, it is wise to see whether they have any runners in the 2022 edition of the Nassau Stakes as they clearly know what it takes to win such a race
  • The leading jockeys in the history of the Nassau Stakes are Nat Flatman and Sir Gordon Richards as both of these picked up six wins apiece. However, the former last won it in 1859 and the latter in 1951, so they are obviously both not around at the moment. When it comes to jockeys that are currently on the circuit, the likes of William Buick and Ryan Moore have won it three times in the last 10 years, so it is worth checking to see if they will be running in the 2022 edition
  • From the last 12 winners, seven of them were three, while five of them were aged four or above
  • Five of the previous 12 victors were favourites at the start of the race, while 10 of the last 12 winners were in the top three in the betting odds
  • Three of the last 12 winners won on their previous race, while six placed in their last race, and 11 had raced within the previous 44 days
  • Two of the last 12 champions had one at least once at Goodwood, while two also had at least one win at this racecourse
  • Eight of the last 12 winners had at least one Group 1 win under their belt, while ten had at least one Group 1-3 win to their name
  • From the last 12 winners, 11 had run at least two races that season, while nine of them had least one win in the season

💯 Qatar Nassau Stakes Odds

All of the best sports betting sites out there will have odds and markets for racing festivals such as Glorious Goodwood. After all, any bookie that is worth their salt will know that horse racing is a very popular sport that many people like to bet on, so not offering markets and odds for big horse racing events is just something that will lead to lost money. In such a competitive industry, this is not something that they can afford to do.

However, while it is possible for us to come across horse racing betting odds and markets at most bookies nowadays, not all sports betting sites are created equally, and there are some bookies out there that are a lot better than their rivals when it comes to placing wagers on the Qatar Nassau Stakes. Therefore, in the table below, we have given you the odds that the top bookmakers are offering for the horses running in this race.

🏆 Nassau Stakes Preview

In this part of our article, we are going to look at three of the favourites for the 2022 Qatar Nassau Stakes. We will have a look at how each horse has been performing lately, the number of wins that they have landed throughout their career, and we will provide you with any other data that we think could come in hand when you are making bets on this race. Also, we will check out who their jockey is going to be and who has trained them since this is something that can obviously play a huge roll in whether a horse will go on to win.

Nashwa

When you look at the odds for the 2022 Nassau Stakes, you will see that one of the horses is the overwhelming favourite to go on and win the race, and this is Nashwa. When you check out what she has achieved in her short career to date, you will know why she is the big favourite to win this race. She has raced in five races so far, picking up three wins and two third places, claiming prize money of more than half a million. She has won the Prix de Diane and the Fillies' Trial Stakes, and it would be a surprise if she did not add the 2022 Nassau Stakes to her trophy cabinet.

She is currently being trained by John and Thady Gosden, who have had a combined total of 972 runners in 2021 and 2022, with a winning percentage of 21% and a place percentage of 53% thanks to 520 places. We are pretty sure that Nashwa will place in this race, but there is not much point in placing such a wager due to the fact that the odds will be really low - you will need to put a huge stake in order to make any type of profit, and it is really not worth the risk because you never know what will happen in a horse race.

She will be ridden by Hollie Doyle, who is fresh off of a win on Must Be Royale on the 24th of July. Since 2017, she has taken part in 4784 races, and she has managed to pick up 664 wins in this time, giving her a winning percentage of 14%. In these races, she has also placed 1828 times, giving her a place percentage of 38%. She has raced 97 times at Goodwood and has 12 wins and 28 places to her name, so it is clear that she knows how to success at this racetrack.

Lilac Road

The second favourite for this race, albeit far behind Nashwa in the betting odds, is Lilac Road, who has 12 flat races - four wins, two runners-up, and one third place - under her belt. Her last win came on the 12th of May in York in the Al Basti Equiworld Dubia Middleton Fillies' Stakes races, where she picked up a prize of just under £80,000. She was priced at 7.50 to win this race, so she knows how to overcome the odds.

She is trained by William Haggas, which definitely increases her chances of overcoming the odds once again and coming out on top. Since 2017, Haggas has had 3580 runners, and he has picked up 838 wins, giving him a highly respectable winning percentage of 23%. From this huge number of runners, he has also had 1850 places, giving him a place percentage of 52%. When it comes his Goodwood stats, he has had 146 runners, which equates to 32 winners and 70 places, so he has had quite the bit of success at this horse racing festival.

Lilac Road will be ridden by Tom Marquand in this race, and he happens to be one of the most experienced jockeys on the circuit at this moment in time, with more than 5500 runs under his belt since 2017. From these races, he has ridden the winner on 733 occasions, giving him a winning percentage of 13%, and he has placed on 2055 times, giving him a place percentage of 37%. He has experience at the Glorious Goodwood Festival, with 198 runs under his belt and a win percentage of 23% and a place percentage of 62%.

Dreamloper

The third favourite for the 2022 Nassau Stakes is Dreamloper, and she has 14 runs to her name with a record of five wins, one second place, and two third places. This season she has run in three races, and she came first in two of them and 6th in the other. She has earned more than £300,000 for her owners thanks to wins in big races such as the Prix d'Ispahan and the Dhalia Stakes, so you should not be too surprised to see her as one of the favourites for this race.

Dreamloper is trained by Ed Walker, and while he is not one of the best trainers around, in our own personal opinion, he still has the talent and experience to increase Dreamloper's chances of upsetting the odds and coming out on top. If we were to place a bet on Dreamloper for this race though, we would put our money on her to place because we honestly do not think that she has what it takes to beat the other two horses that we just spoke about above. In 2022, Walker has had 170 runners, and 22 of these have gone on to win, giving him a win percentage of 13%. He has has 23 runners-up, 19 3rd places, and 18 4th places, highlighting our suggestion to bet on a place.

Keiran Shoemark will be the jockey that is riding Dreamloper in this race, and he has a 14% win percentage at Goodwood with 12 wins from the 83 races that he has participated in. From 2017 up until the present day, he has participated in 2755 races and has earned himself 310 wins with a win percentage of 11% and has a place percentage of 33% with 919 places under his belt. In 2022, he has participated in 278 races, picking up 36 wins with a 13% win percentage.

When you gamble, it is important that you remember to do so responsibly, no matter the sporting event that you are placing a bet on. We suggest that you set up some kind of budget with a value that you can definitely afford to potentially lose and that you stop placing bets as soon as your budgeted money has been lost. Also, it is vital that you read the terms and conditions that are attached to each bonus because a failure to do so can lead to you making a mistake that will see you forfeit the bonus.

Finally, sports betting sites change their bonuses constantly in order to try and keep things exciting and fresh, so there is a chance that some of the bonuses that you just read about in the table above are not available when you check them out on the site. If this is the case, then we do apologise for the inconvenience, but we are sure that the replacement bonuses will be as good or much better.
