The always competitive and physical Ulster Football Championship is upon us once again as Fermanagh and Down begin their 2025 campaigns. Facing off at Brewster Park on April 19th , the game will throw in at 16:00 GMT in Enniskillen, with extra time in use if necessary. For those wondering what TV channel Fermanagh v Down is on, don’t worry, BBC Sport NI will be broadcasting the game live as part of their coverage of the 2025 Ulster Championship.
In this preview to another eagerly anticipated Ulster clash, we will give you the latest odds, some betting tips, as well as provide you with our very own prediction ahead of the Ulster Quarter-Final between the two counties.
🏆 Fermanagh v Down Prediction
Down were unlucky to get relegated from Division 2 of the 2025 National League, falling on the head-to-head rule against Louth. The 2024 Tailteann Cup winners did put in some good performances however, including beating Monaghan in their last Division 2 game. They also put in a good showing in the 2024 Ulster Championship, only losing by a solitary point to eventual All-Ireland champions Armagh in last year’s Ulster Semi-Final.
Fermanagh for their part, have only made it past the Quarter-Final stage on one occasion since 2016, when they made the Ulster Final in 2018. They finished 4th in Division three, winning 3 of their 7 games, including a walkover victory over Leitrim. It should be a tight, hard-fought battle between these two Ulster rivals as they bid to make a Semi-Final against either Donegal or Monaghan on April 27th, but we predict Conor Laverty’s Down side to come out on top, and match their 2024 Ulster performance by reaching another Provincial Semi-Final.
OUR PREDICTION: 🏆 DOWN TO WIN 🏆

✔️ Fermanagh v Down Betting Tips
We will take you through a selection of Fermanagh v Down betting tips. These tips may come in handy for those that fancy a bet ahead of the game at Brewster Park, or those that have free bet offers to avail of.
- Tip 1: Down to win:
Fermanagh v Down should be a tight and closely run match when the sides met on April 19th. Conor Laverty’s men have been operating at a higher level this year though, and despite being relegated from Division 2, they showed enough to suggest they will be too strong for Kieran Donnelly’s Fermanagh team. If you agree, you can get a price of 1.22 with BoyleSports on Down making it through to the last four.
- Tip 2: Pat Havern to score a goal anytime:
Down only scored 5 goals across their seven League games and had five different scorers, of which star scorer Pat Havern was not one. Now that we are into Championship action however, it would be no surprise to see Down’s scoring machine, he hit 0-60 points in Down’s seven matches, find the back of the net when it really counts against Fermanagh.
- Tip 3: Fermanagh +5 Handicap betting:
As has been mentioned, we expect this to be a typically tough Ulster Championship match, with not much between the two teams by the end of the match. With that in mind, we have decided to have a look at the handicap market. Fermanagh are priced up to get within +5 of Down and if like us, you think Kieran Donnelly’s men can achieve this, you can get a price of 1.91 with BoyleSports on Fermanagh beating the handicap.
📈 Fermanagh Squad Form
Fermanagh had a decent Division 3 campaign in this year’s League, finishing 4th overall. The Erne County won 4 of their 7 games, drawing with Sligo in their other game. Kieran Donnelly’s team showed tremendous spirit in several of their matches, snatching a late win against Laois, as well as fighting back to secure a draw with Sligo.
⚽ Down Squad Form
Down are already secured of taking part in the 2025 All-Ireland Series, after winning the 2024 Tailteann Cup. That should free them up to have a right crack off Fermanagh on April 19th as they bid to make a second successive Ulster Semi-Final. Down were relegated from Division 2 of the League with three wins and four losses from their seven games, but did beat eventual Division 2 champions Monaghan along the way.
