Mayo face off against local rivals Roscommon in the second game of the 2026 Connacht Football Championship semi-finals at McHale Park, Castlebar, on Sunday, April 26th at 16:00 GMT. Both teams had international trips for their quarter-finals, with Mayo heading to London and Roscommon travelling to New York.

In this preview of what should be a brilliant game of football, we’ll bring you the latest Mayo v Roscommon betting odds, along with some useful betting tips for this eagerly anticipated clash. We’ll also share our own Mayo v Roscommon prediction so read on as we look ahead to what could be an epic Connacht semi-final battle.

🏆 Mayo vs Roscommon Prediction

Mayo will enter their Connacht semi-final at home to Roscommon as favourites to reach their 84th Connacht final on May 10th, and we believe that is justified, as our Mayo v Roscommon prediction is for a Mayo win.

Mayo had a good league campaign under Andy Moran in his first season in charge and will look to give a performance worthy of putting them into another Connacht final against either Galway or Leitrim, who play on April 25th. Mayo won 5 of their 7 league matches, only losing to the big 2 in this year’s All-Ireland race, Kerry and Donegal, and should take confidence from the fact that, besides those 2 matches, the tactics Moran is looking to implement with Mayo seem to be working. Mayo were the top scorers in Division 1 of the league, with a newfound fondness for kicking and attempting 2-pointers a definite change under Moran. Their ability to kick efficiently and accurately will be needed in Castlebar as they are coming up against a Roscommon team that can also get great purchase out of their scorers.

The new rules lend themselves to straight-up shoot-outs when the conditions suit, and if we get the conditions, we could be in for a classic in Castlebar. Mayo look to be growing as an attacking force under Moran, and with their recent record over their neighbours, we think they will just about get over the line in what will hopefully be a great game of football.

OUR PREDICTION: 🏆 MAYO TO WIN 🏆

✔️ Mayo vs Roscommon Betting Tips

At this stage of our Mayo v Roscommon preview, we are going to share with you some Mayo v Roscommon tips ahead of the match. These are tips that may come in handy for those with some free bets to use or those that just want to have a bet on this Connacht semi-final.

Before having a bet on the match, however, why not check out our bookmaker reviews page? Here, you can find out lots more about any of the betting sites listed.

  • Tip 1: Mayo to win: As we have said, our Mayo v Roscommon prediction is for a Mayo win on April 26th, but it should be a closely fought tussle. Mayo got the better of a much-changed Roscommon in the league by 15 points back in March, but it should be a completely different match when they meet in this Connacht semi-final. Roscommon’s forwards can pose a threat to any team, but how they cope without Daire Cregg remains to be seen. Cregg hit 2-32 in the league but was sent off in New York and will be a huge loss to Mark Dowd’s team.

To back Mayo, you can currently get a price of 1.44 with BoyleSports on Andy Moran’s team making it through to the Connacht final on May 10th.

  • Tip 2: Ryan O’Donoghue to score a goal anytime: Diarmuid Murtagh will be needed even more for Roscommon in the absence of Daire Cregg, while for Mayo as ever, Ryan O’Donoghue will be key to their chances. The Belmullet man is without doubt the leader of this Mayo forward line now, with his scoring threat and creativity so vital to how his team’s attacking play functions. He hit 1-33 in the league before adding 0-11 against London, and regardless of whether he plays close to goal or further out in the field, he will be Mayo’s chief scoring threat against Roscommon.
  • Tip 3: Mayo -3 Handicap: Mayo won the league game by 15 points, and while we fully expect this to be closer than that, we still expect Mayo to get the job done in Castlebar. Their last two Championship wins over Roscommon have been by 2 points and 5 points respectively, and we feel another win by a similar margin is on the cards for Andy Moran’s men.

To back Mayo to win -3, you can currently get a price of 1.91 with BoyleSports.

📈 Mayo Squad Form

Mayo finished 3rd in Division 1 of the National Football League, narrowly missing out on a place in the final. They then entered the 2026 Connacht Championship with an away trip to London to take on London in Ruislip. A solid and professional performance saw Andy Moran claim his first Connacht Championship victory as Mayo manager on a scoreline of 0-31 – 1-15.

⚽Roscommon Squad Form

Roscommon had a very impressive league campaign, winning 4 of their 7 matches to finish 4th on 8 points. They had victories over Galway, Donegal, Armagh and Monaghan, while they lost to Mayo, Kerry and Dublin. They then travelled to New York to face the home side, where they ran out easy winners on a scoreline of 5-22 – 1-10. The only downside to their trip was the loss of Daire Cregg to a red card. Cregg will be a huge loss if his ban is upheld.

👕 Mayo vs Roscommon Predicted Lineups

Both teams had easy victories in their quarter-final matches, which allowed some squad rotation from both managers. To give you an idea, we have put up the starting 15s from their matches in the quarter-finals, but we would expect changes on both sides ahead of this heavyweight Connacht semi-final, with both sides desperate to get to a Connacht final on May 10th.

One change we are sure of is the fact that Roscommon will be without one of their star forwards in Daire Cregg. Cregg was dismissed in the New York game, and at the time of writing that ban was still in effect.
