🔍 La Liga Football Betting Tips

Before you bet, check out our La Liga betting tips for the 2025/26 season in the sections below. If you need extra help, visit our sports betting guide page.

  • Tip 1: Barcelona to win La Liga
  • Barcelona were champions last season, four points ahead of Real Madrid, and the Catalan side has made some strong signings, including Marcus Rashford. The England international joins a forward line that already features Lamine Yamal, Robert Lewandowski, and Raphinha, and he should help drive Barca to back-to-back titles, which can be supported at a price of 2.20 at Lunubet.

  • Tip 2: Kylian Mbappe to be leading goalscorer
  • Kylian Mbappé's first season at Real Madrid did not entirely match his expectations, but the French World Cup winner still finished as La Liga's top scorer with 31 goals. Now settled in Spain, Mbappé is poised to benefit from the arrival of new manager Xabi Alonso and the presence of summer signing Trent Alexander-Arnold, who will provide him with assists. Another Spanish golden boot could be on the horizon for Mbappé, and he is currently available for 1.80 at Betovo to lead the scoring charts.

  • Tip 3: Villarreal to finish in the Top 4
  • The top three teams: Barcelona, Real Madrid, and Atlético Madrid—are almost guaranteed to finish in the top four, and Villarreal could join them. Under the management of Marcelino, Villarreal achieved a fifth-place finish last season, securing a spot in the Champions League. They ended the season with the same points as fourth-placed Athletic Bilbao, and this year, they have the potential to improve their position. With the addition of Alberto Moleiro and Rafa Marín, Villarreal appears to be a strong contender to finish in the top four, currently offered at 3.00 at RoyalistPlay.

  • Tip 4: Espanyol to be relegated
  • Espanyol narrowly avoided relegation last season, finishing 17th among non-relegated teams with just 39 expected points (xPTS), only one point above the bottom three. Goalkeeper Joan Garcia was a key player last season but has left the club over the summer. With teams like Sevilla and Girona expected to improve, Espanyol might face significant challenges ahead. Our Spanish La Liga betting tip is to back their relegation for 2.75 at RoyalistPlay

  • Tip 5: Trent Alexander-Arnold to have Most Assists
  • England international Trent Alexander-Arnold made a significant move this summer, transferring from his boyhood club Liverpool to Real Madrid. Known for his attacking prowess, the full-back was an assist machine for the Reds, setting a record for Premier League defenders with 13 assists during the 2019/20 season. With his new team’s love for attacking football, Alexander-Arnold could thrive in Spain, making him an intriguing outside bet at 13.00 with Betovo.

Last season, Kylian Mbappe was the top goalscorer in La Liga, scoring 31 goals, which was four more than Robert Lewandowski and ten ahead of the next highest scorer. This summer, players like Marcus Rashford have moved to the Spanish top flight, but the question remains: can anyone challenge the superstar Frenchman for the title of top scorer?

📄 La Liga Competition Format

Like the Premier League and Serie A, there are 20 competing teams in La Liga. These teams will play each other twice during the 2025/26 campaign, facing off in home and away fixtures between August 15th, 2025 and May 24th, 2026. In total, each team will play 38 La Liga matches this season, and the one that accumulates the most points by the end of the campaign will win the competition.

As usual, three points will be awarded for a victory and one for a draw, whereas losing teams will remain empty-handed. The league will also continue even after the identity of the champions has been confirmed, with the top eight teams all earning a shot at European qualification for the following season and the bottom three teams relegated to the Segunda Division for 2026/27.

📆 La Liga Fixtures

The most important dates in each La Liga season include notable matches such as the El Grande Derbi, the Madrid Derby, the Basque Derby, the clash between FC Barcelona and Atlético de Madrid, the Catalan Derby, and the Valencian Derby. Among these, the world-famous El Clásico stands out.

El Clásico, the match between Real Madrid and FC Barcelona, is an event that captivates football fans worldwide. This season, the two teams will face each other on matchdays 10 and 35. In their first meeting, they will play at the Santiago Bernabéu Stadium, while the second match will take place at the Nuevo Spotify Camp Nou.

🔁 La Liga Transfers

The 2025/26 La Liga season has witnessed some significant transfer moves that could reshape the competitive landscape and impact your La Liga betting strategy. Here's an overview of the four most impactful transfers based on both cost and potential league influence:

  • Player Transfer 1: Trent Alexander-Arnold makes major move to Real Madrid

England's leading attacking full-back has transferred from Liverpool to Real Madrid in what many are calling the transfer of the season. Alexander-Arnold's creative skills from deeper positions could be the final piece in Xabi Alonso's tactical strategy, providing Real Madrid with a new dimension in their attacking play while also ensuring defensive stability.

  • Player Transfer 2: Marcus Rashford makes major move to Barcelona

The arrival of the English forward at Camp Nou signifies Barcelona's determination for the upcoming season. Rashford's pace and direct playing style will complement the technical skills of Lamine Yamal and Robert Lewandowski, potentially giving the Catalans the advantage needed to defend their La Liga title and compete on multiple fronts.

  • Player Transfer 3: Joan García makes major move to Barcelona

The highly-rated goalkeeper's move from Espanyol demonstrates Barcelona's commitment to strengthening their defensive line. García's exceptional shot-stopping abilities and commanding presence in the box could provide the stability necessary for competing for trophies across all competitions, while also serving as a long-term successor to Marc-André ter Stegen.

  • Player Transfer 4: Rafa Marín makes major move to Villarreal

Marín's aerial strength and organisational skills could solidify a backline that faced challenges in key matches last season, offering the stability required for a sustained push for a top-four finish. This defensive reinforcement arrives at a crucial time for Villarreal's European ambitions.

⭐ La Liga Past Winners

Barcelona officially secured their 28th title with two matches to spare following a 2–0 win against city rivals Espanyol in May. The Catalans ended the season four points clear of bitter rivals Real Madrid, with Atletico Madrid eight points further back in third spot.

Athletic Bilbao and Villarreal joined the big trio in securing Champions League qualification for the 2025/26 season. Real Betis and Celta Vigo earned Europa League spots, with Rayo Vallecano in the Conference League spot.
