City’s chaotic 4-4 draw at Chelsea prior to the international break snapped a five-game winning streak for the Citizens, which had seen them score 17 goals and concede just three. They definitely missed the influential John Stones against the Blues, with the former Everton man having become key to City’s tactical setup and innovative 3-2-4-1 formation. The good news for the Citizens is that Stones could return in time for the clash with Leipzig, as they look to extend their unbeaten run in the Champions League to 18 games (they haven’t lost at home in the UCL since a 2-1 reversal to Liverpool in April 2018).

The return of John Stones from a thigh injury could be significant for City, but Pep Guardiola remains without the services of Kevin De Bruyne as he continues his recovery from a partial muscle tear. Left back Sergio Gomez is also a doubt with a knock, while reserve keeper Zack Steffen is continuing his rehabilitation after knee surgery.
