The opening race at Royal Ascot is the Group 1 Queen Anne Stakes, a mile-long event for horses aged four years and older. Four horses have won this race multiple times, although the last occurrence was in 1907. Frankie Dettori and Saeed bin Suroor hold the record as the leading jockey and trainer, respectively, each with seven victories. Additionally, Godolphin has celebrated success in this race eight times, with the most recent win achieved by Ribchester in 2017.
As we prepare for the race, punters can find our 2025 Queen Anne Stakes predictions for this prestigious event at Royal Ascot, which is the highlight of the summer racing calendar. 🏆Queen Anne Stakes Prediction
Lead Artist was an impressive winner of the Lockinge at Newbury last month, a contest Charyn finished second in last year before winning this race. The Lockinge Stakes has featured 25 Queen Anne winners since 1980, and a whopping 16 of the last 22 winners had won at Group 1 level before securing this prize. The John & Thady Gosden-trained Juddmonte runners fit the profile of a winner nicely.
The Dubawi colt had been last of eight on his comeback at Sandown in April but showed the benefit of that run at Newbury. He bested Dancing Gemini by a neck. He has never run at Ascot before, but he was strong through the line last time, and the stiff straight mile should be to his liking. He's amongst the Queen Anne Stakes favourites and his Newbury effort puts him to the front of the queue in our minds.
OUR PREDICTION: 🏆 LEAD ARTIST TO WIN 🏆
🏇 Queen Anne Stakes Betting Preview
The Queen Anne sets the tone for Royal Ascot and is a fitting curtain raiser. Some of the best-established milers take to the straight course in this Group 1 assignment. Aidan O'Brien is Royal Ascot's leading trainer of all time, but the Ballydoyle supremo has just one win in this race in the previous 11 years. Seven of the last eight winners have been trained in Britain.
1️⃣ Lead Artist / John & Thady Gosden
Lead Artist arrives here off the back of a career-best win in the Lockinge at Newbury last month for John & Thady Gosden. That Group 1 contest has proved itself a superb guide to the Queen Anne over many years, and that bodes well. The Juddmonte-owned son of Dubawi will be partnered now by Colin Keane, the six-time Irish champion jockey having been confirmed as the new retained rider for one of the most powerful owners in European horse racing.
2️⃣ Kikkuli / Harry Charlton
An interesting outsider to consider is Kikkuli, trained by Harry Charlton and owned by Juddmonte. The Kingman colt had a strong performance last season, finishing close behind Haatem in the Jersey Stakes over 7 furlongs, just missing out at the finish. He has considerable experience in group races and, while he hasn't quite achieved his best in two outings at Haydock, a return to Ascot might be his strategic focus. Additionally, he is relatively untested at this mile distance.
His odds for the Queen Anne Stakes at 50.00 at William Hill could be seen as quite generous.
3️⃣ Qudddwah / Simon & Ed Crisford
Completing our Queen Anne Stakes tips for 2025 is another big-priced fancy among the Queen Anne Stakes runners, this time Quddwah from the prolific Simon & Ed Crisford operation. The son of Kingman boasts a record of 2-3 over the course and distance here at Ascot and likely wasn't suited by the very soft ground on Champions Day last October when finishing down the field in the QEII behind the season's best miler, Charyn.
He won at Longchamp on his comeback in May in Listed company and ranks as an outsider worth noting with the best betting sites for this target.
