The Irish Derby marks the grand finale of three fantastic days of racing at the Curragh during the final weekend of June. It brings together the top three-year-old colts in the country to compete for glory in one of Europe's most prestigious Classics.
This year, Lambourn aims to provide Aidan O'Brien with a record-extending 17th victory in the race and potentially become the 20th horse to complete the Epsom-Irish Derby double. Read on for our comprehensive Irish Derby prediction ahead of the Irish Derby Festival at the Curragh.
🏆 Irish Derby Prediction
Aidan O'Brien's dominance in this race continues, as the Ballydoyle chief targets an astonishing 17th Irish Derby triumph this time with Epsom Derby winner Lambourn leading the charge. While he’s respected, his odds-on price is short, so our first Irish Derby prediction tip is to oppose the favourite.
An appealing alternative is Green Impact, trained by Jessica Harrington. He recently claimed victory in a Listed contest at Leopardstown and could offer value in the horse racing betting markets for this race.
The Wootton Bassett colt also landed a Group 2 at Leopardstown last season over a mile and twice got the better of Delacroix as a two-year-old. He finished sixth in the Guineas at Newmarket, where he appeared unsuited to the Rowley Mile track. However, he bounced back by winning at the Foxrock venue when he stepped up to a mile-and-two-furlongs. That performance suggests there’s more improvement to come as he moves up in trip again. He ranks among the most intriguing Irish Derby runners this year.

OUR PREDICTION: 🏆 GREEN IMPACT TO WIN 🏆
🏇 Irish Derby Betting Preview
The Irish Derby has reached its final declarations, and just 10 contenders remain in the Irish Derby betting odds. Aidan O'Brien trains five of them as he attempts to extend his already record-breaking haul. All runners are priced by major Irish bookmakers, and below you’ll find our top three Irish Derby Day tips, along with a table to compare the latest odds:
1️⃣ Green Impact / Jessica Harrington
Jessica Harrington will be encouraged by Green Impact’s strong showing at Leopardstown following a disappointing run in the 2000 Guineas at Newmarket. Back in the Listed company, he bounced back in style, and the Wootton Bassett colt hinted that he had more in the tank than the winning margin suggested. He now looks a leading contender to challenge the Irish Derby favourites. Here are the current odds:
2️⃣ Lambourn / Aidan O'Brien
Aidan O'Brien is no stranger to success in this race and could field half the final line-up if all 10 runners stand their ground. He won the last two editions with Auguste Rodin and Los Angeles, the former also having won the Epsom Derby. At Epsom, Lambourn dictated the pace under Wayne Lordan and held off the field with authority. With that performance under his belt, he rightly tops the betting and deserves that status. Back him here:
3️⃣ Pride Of Arras / Ralph Beckett
Pride of Arras landed the Dante Stakes at York in May and was highly regarded heading into the Epsom Derby. However, things didn’t go to plan. He was bumped early, ran wide, and pulled too hard. Around Tattenham Corner, he became unbalanced, and his race was effectively over. That run is worth forgiving, and the Curragh’s flat, galloping nature could suit him far better, much like York did. A rebound could be on the cards. Back him at:
