Liverpool’s suffered their first Premier League defeat in 16 matches at Arsenal last week, while they were disappointing in what turned out to be a comprehensive 3-1 loss. However, they’ll welcome the visit of struggling Burnley to Anfield, with the Clarets having won just one of their last nine league games and only three overall since the beginning of the campaign. Vincent Kompany’s men also lost 2-0 to Liverpool at Turf Moor in the reverse fixture on Boxing Day, so are unlikely to arrive on Merseyside in confident mood. But can they spring a surprise here, and how are the best betting sites pricing all potential outcomes?

🏆 Liverpool vs Burnley EPL Prediction

While Liverpool have lost 38 of the 127 matches they’ve played against Burnley, they’ve suffered just three defeats in the 23 games contested since February 15th, 1983. What’s more, the Clarets have only won once at Anfield since September 1974, although this victory was achieved relatively recently in January 2021.

Burnley are unlikely to find much solace in the form table either. In fact, they’ve taken just nine points from the previous 30 available to them, and are winless in five since prevailing 2-0 at Fulham on December 23rd. Conversely, Liverpool still top the EPL form table over the last 10 matches, recording seven wins and just a single defeat while earning 23 points during this period.

Interestingly, the Clarets have averaged 46.1% possession per 90 so far this season, which is impressive given their lowly position. However, they’ve only recorded 18.43 shot-creating actions per 90 and have an xG value of just 21.8, so they’re clearly struggling to convert their possession into clear cut chances.

Liverpool have no such issues, with their own xG value of 48.9 currently the highest in the league and indicative of a relentless and aggressive attacking approach. The Reds will also be keen to bounce back from the defeat at Arsenal (especially with Man City now hot on their heels), so I’m tipping a thoroughly dominant win for Jurgen Klopp’s men this weekend.

My Prediction: 🏆 Liverpool 4 – 1 Burnley ⚽

Betinireland’s bookmaker reviews reveal some of the best sportsbooks in Ireland, each of which are offering a huge selection of Liverpool vs Burnley markets. These include the match winner or result, BTTS and the over/under on how many goals will be scored in the game. Let’s take a closer look at each of these markets!

🏅 Liverpool vs Burnley: Match Winner

The Reds can be backed at around 1.20 to beat Burnley at Anfield, implying an 83.33% chance of a home win. Conversely, Burnley are priced as high as 17.00 to beat the league leaders, so they have only a 5.88% chance of beating Liverpool away for the first time in more than 49 years (statistically speaking, at least).

⚽ Liverpool vs Burnley: Both Teams To Score

Both teams have scored in 15 of Liverpool’s 23 Premier League matches this season (65%), with the Reds keeping eight clean sheets (including five at home). They’ve also scored in all but one game so far (a 0-0 draw with Manchester United on December 17th). As for Burnley, both sides have found the net in 13 of their 23 games (57%), although the Clarets have only kept two clean sheets and have failed to score on eight occasions.

✔️ Liverpool vs Burnley - Betting Tips

Clearly, the bookies agree with me and are expecting Liverpool to record a comfortable EPL win over Burnley at Anfield. However, it may be hard to identify good value wagers ahead of this match, so here are some tips to help you make the most of your bankroll and any available free bets on your account!

  • Tip 1: Back Liverpool to Win with Over 3.5 Goals Scored: Most over/under betting takes place around the 2.5 goals line, but the combination of Liverpool’s potent attack and Burnley’s porous defence is likely to create a particularly high scoring game. So, there may be some value in backing the Reds to win with over 3.5 goals scored in the game at a price of 2.00 with Betway, especially with the Reds’ 11 home EPL matches this season producing a total of 39 goals at a rate of 3.54 per 90.
  • Tip 2: Back Liverpool to Win with a Handicap of -2.5 Goals: Of Liverpool’s nine league wins at Anfield this season, eight have been achieved by a margin of two goals or more. Four have seen the Reds prevail by three clear goals, while Chelsea were vanquished 4-1 in a swashbuckling performance in Liverpool’s last Anfield appearance. In fact, they’ve scored eight times in their last two EPL matches on Merseyside, so get on Liverpool to win with a handicap of -2.5 goals at a price of 2.50 with LegendPlay.
  • Tip 3: Back Both Teams to Score: The bookies are split on whether both teams will score or not at Anfield, so you can get relatively competitive odds on both potential outcomes. Overall, I fancy Liverpool and Burnley to strike at the weekend, particularly as both sides have found the net in each of the Claret’s last four matches. As for the Reds, they’ve conceded in 15 of their 23 Premier League games in 2023/24, and four of their previous five at Anfield. So, get on both teams to score at a price of 1.95 with Betiton.

1️⃣ Liverpool Update

Not only was their 3-1 defeat in North London Liverpool’s first in 16 EPL outings, but it was just the second reversal that they’ve experienced in 34 league games since April 1st, 2023. However, it hasn’t dislodged the Reds from either the top of the Premier League or the top flight form table, with Klopp’s energetic side having still accrued more points than any other during the last 10 gameweeks (including Manchester City). They also have one of the league’s in-form strikers in Diogo Jota, with the 27-year-old Portuguese having scored four goals in his previous five matches and helped fill the void left by the absent Mohamed Salah.

This game will come too soon for Liverpool talisman Mo Salah, who’s scheduled to return by February 17th as he recovers from a thigh injury. Ibrahima Konate will serve a one-match ban after picking up two yellow cards in the defeat at Arsenal, while Stefan Bajcetic (unknown) and Dominik Szoboszlai (thigh) have been ruled out. Conor Bradley remains on compassionate leave following the tragic loss of his father, while Joel Matip is a long-term absentee after rupturing his ACL. However, Wataru Endo could be available for selection following Japan’s quarterfinal exit to Iran from the AFC Asia Cup on February 3rd.

2️⃣ Burnley Update

Burnley have won just one of their last nine Premier League matches, although two of their three EPL victories overall have come on the road (vs Luton on October 3rd and Fulham on December 23rd). Regardless, they remain cut adrift in 19th place in the Premier League table and are seven points from safety, while their tally of 47 goals conceded is the second highest in the league (only Sheffield United have let in more). The struggling Blades are also the only side to have scored less goals than Burnley’s 24, despite the Clarets desire to control possession in matches and play an aggressively high defensive line.

The Clarets will at least have a largely fully fit squad to choose from when they visit Anfield at the weekend. However, talented younger winger Luca Koleosho has been ruled out with a knee injury, so he won’t be part of the matchday squad.
