If you are looking for a prestigious and entertaining darts event, then you need to take a look at the Premier League of Darts. This is one of those competitions that all darts players want to win at least once in their career, and this will come as no surprise when you hear that that the winner gets to walk away with a cheque that is worth £275,000. Night Ten is up next, and below we are going to provide you with a prediction for each match as well as the player that we believe will go on to win the tournament outright.

Format of the Competition

We are aware that some people who are reading this might be new to the darts world, which is why we are now going to spend a little bit of time explaining the format of the Premier League of Darts. It is always important to know the format that is in use before you dive right in and start making bets on a sporting event.

At the beginning of the year, the PDC declared that the competition would be making use of a new format. This competition used to be a Round Robin event, but this year there will be eight players playing knockout darts on each of the nights. This means that each night will consist of seven matches, and each of these matches will be the best of 11 or the first to six legs.

In the first seven weeks, the eight players will meet the remaining seven players once in a quarter-final match, and once in weeks 9-15. Weeks 8 and 16, on the other hand, will be based on league standings at that moment in time. The player that wins their quarter-final match will receive two points, while the runner-up will get three points, and the winner on the night will receive five points.

Once all 16 nights have been played, the top four from the table will advance to the Play-Offs, with the player who comes 1st playing against the player who comes 4th, and the player who comes 2nd playing against whoever it is that finishes 3rd.

The Players Taking Part in the Premier League of Darts 2022

The old format would see the top four from the PDC Order of Merit (once the PDC World Darts Championship had been played) get joined by six players who received an invitation to take part. However, at the start of the year, when it was announced that a new format was going to be used, it was also announced that the number of participants would be dropping from 10 down to 8.

The eight players who are taking part in the 2022 Premier League of Darts was announced at the beginning of February, and it was the top six players from the PDC Order of Merit joined by Jonny Clayton, the reigning champion, and Joe Cullen. There used to be a "Judgement Night" as well as a relegation system, but neither of these exist for the 2022 competition.

The Matches on Night Ten

Below we are going to take a look at the four quarter-final matches that will be played on Night 10 of the Premier League of Darts. We will give you our prediction for who we think will go on to win each game.

Peter Wright versus Gerwyn Price

The first game of Night 10 sees Peter Wright play against Gerwyn Price, and a quick look at the odds that are being offered by big sports betting sites such as Bet365 will show you that they think that the adopted Scotsman will go on to win this match. He has been given odds of 1.72 to win, while the Welshman has been given odds of 2.10 to advance o the semi-finals. You will come across similar odds with other quality bookies such as Unibet and Betway.

So, do we happen to agree with the sportsbooks on this one? Well, their head-to-head record is 10-9 in the favour of the Scot, which means that this will probably be yet another tight match that could end up going either way. However, we are not going to sit on the fence for this one, and would recommend that you back Wright to go on and win the game.

Our match prediction: Peter Wright to win.

Gary Anderson versus James Wade

The second match of the night will see Gary Anderson play against James Wade, and the bookmakers such as William Hill have the Scotsman as the slight favourite to go on and win this match. They have given Anderson odds of 1.80 to go on and win the match, while they have given Wade odds of 2.00 to be victorious.

What is their head-to-head record like? Well, Anderson leads the way with 9 wins to Wade's 7, but, despite what the bookies are suggesting, we actually think that Wade will win this match and make the head-to-head score 9-8. This is because Wade has been in pretty good form lately, having finished as runner-up in Night 8 and Night 9, while Anderson, on the other hand, has failed to make it past the quarter-final stage on both of the last two nights.

Our match prediction: James Wade to win.

Joe Cullen Versus Michael Smith

The third match of Night Nine is an all-English affair with Joe Cullen taken on Michael Smith. This will probably be one of the closest to call matches on the night, and this is indicated by the odds that are on offer. For instance, Bet365 have Cullen as the slight favourite to proceed to the next round, giving him odds of 1.95 to win. On the other hand, they have given Smith odds of 2.05 to progress to the semi-finals. Both of these players were knocked out in their first match of Night 9, so they will both be eager to win and pick up some points.

When it comes to the head-to-head record between the pair, Smith is leading the way with 8 wins to Cullen's three, and, although we would not mind sitting on the fence here because this should be a tough match to call, we are going to put our money on Smith to extend his head-to-head record and make it 9-3.

Our match prediction: Michael Smith to win.

Michael van Gerwen Versus Jonny Clayton

The fourth match of the night is Michael van Gerwen against Jonny Clayton, and the top bookies such as William Hill, BoyleSports, and 888sport all have the Dutchman as the favourite to win and advance to the semi-finals. They have him at odds of 1.67 to be successful, while they have given the Welshman odds of 2.20 to make it through to the semi-finals.

While the bookies are all favouring van Gerwen, it is fair to say that Clayton stands a decent chance as he knows what it takes to win against the Dutchman. Their head-to-head record stands 12-8 in the Dutchman's favour, but winning 8 matches against someone of van Gerwen's quality is definitely no mean feat. So, are we going to go with the bookmakers or back the underdog? Well, this time around, we are going to have to go with van Gerwen, especially after his impressive throwing on Week Nine, which he won.

Our match prediction: Michael van Gerwen to win.

Overall Winner of Night Ten

So, if our predictions above are correct, then Peter Wright, James Wade, Michael Smith, and Michael van Gerwen will be the four players that are competing in the semi-finals of Night Ten. If these predictions are true, then the semi-final line-up will see Wright take on Wade and van Gerwen take on Smith.

From these predicted semi-final games, we feel that Wright and van Gerwen will go on to be victorious, meaning that Wright will take on van Gerwen for top points on Night 10. It is never simple to call a match between two such good players, but we would back the Dutchman to go on and win his second night in a row.

Overall Winner of the Premier League of Darts 2022

Above we have given you our predictions as to who will be victorious in the quarter-finals on Night Ten as well as who we believe might go on to win the whole night. Now, we shall take some time to tell you who we feel will go on to lift the 2022 Premier League of Darts title and claim the huge prize cheque.

Michael van Gerwen

Even if you have just recently started following darts, we are sure that you have already heard plenty about Michael van Gerwen. This would not be surprising since he is considered to be one of the best players to grace this great game. He has been victorious in all of the big competitions on a number of occasions, but he really did have a 2021 that he will want to put behind him. His first major title came back in 2012, and 2021 was the first year since then that he did not win a single event. His most successful season came in 2016 as he won nine major titles.

In the two big events that have been played in 2022 so far, he was eliminated in the first and fifth round. Despite this lack of form entering the Premier League of Darts 2022, he has been playing quite well as of late and is sitting at the top of the table. Therefore, it will come as no surprise to find out that the bookmakers have him as the favourite to go on and win the title. In the table below, we have given you the odds that the best bookmakers are offering for him to go on an win this competition.

Gerwyn Price

Gerwyn Price used to play rugby, but then he opted to give it up and focus on his darts, and it is safe to say that he has not looked back. In 2021 he was the winner of the Grand Slam of Darts as well as the PDC World Championship, while he also made it through to the semi-finals of the UK Open, The MAsters, and the PDC World Cup of Darts. At the time of writing, he is ranked as the second best player in the world.

On the 17th of February, he did something that you do not see very often in the world of darts - he hit two nine-dart finishes in the same competition against van Gerwn and Wade. With regard to the odds that are available for him to win the whole tournament, he is the third favourite with the bookmakers, and you can see the odds that are on offer for him in the table below:

BoyleSportsBet365LadbrokesWilliamHillBetway888sport
4.504.504.504.504.504.50

Peter Wright

While van Gerwen has struggled over the past season or so, we are able to say the opposite for Wright. The Englishman, who represents Scotland now, won three major events in 2021, which were the PDC World Cup of Darts, the Players Championships Finals, and the World Matchplay. He even got his 2022 off to a flier by winning the PDC World Championship title at the beginning of the year.

Thanks to all of this recent success, he is now ranked as the best darts player. He is yet to win the Premier League of Darts but, with the form that he has been in as of late, he will firmly believe that he has a great opportunity to add this trophy to his extensive collection.

If you want to place a wager on Wright to win his first Premier League title, then what kind of odds are on offer at all of the top bookies? Well, take a look at the table below, and all will be revealed:

BoyleSportsBet365LadbrokesWilliamHillBetway888sport
4.334.004.334.334.334.33

Jonny Clayton

Jonny Clayton is another player that had an awesome 2021 since he was victorious in the World Grand Prix, the World Series of Darts, The Masters, and the Premier League of Darts. In 2022, he gave a really good performance in the Masters, but was knocked out during the semi-finals stage. He is the reigning Premier League of Darts champion, and will be hoping to retain his title. At the time of writing, he is ranked as the 9th best player in the world.

So, do the bookmakers give him much chance of retaining the Premier League of Darts title that he won in 2021? Well, look at the table below and you can see how they rate his chances.

BoyleSportsBet365LadbrokesWilliamHillBetway888sport
4.504.504.504.504.504.50

Michael Smith

Michael Smith is considered to be one of the best darts players around at the moment, and he is now ranked as the third best player in the world. However, despite his undoubted quality, he is yet to win a big darts event, always seeming to fall at the final hurdle. For example, he was recently the runner-up in the PDC World Championship and the UK Open. It seems that he has some kind of winning block when he makes it to the final of an event, but all he needs is one win and we are sure that more will follow because he has plenty of talent.

However, as you can see from the table below, the sports betting sites are not actually giving him much of a chance of going on to win this event and getting his first big win on the board.

BoyleSportsBet365LadbrokesWilliamHillBetway888sport
15.0015.0015.0013.0013.0013.00

Joe Cullen

Joe Cullen is another quality player that has the talent to beat anyone in the darts world, although it is fair to say that he had quite the average 2021 as his best performance was a semi-final in the European Championship. However, he quickly put his average 2021 behind him in 2022 by winning The Masters. Now that he has managed to bag his first big title, he will believe that he has what is needed to add the Premier League title to his list.

If you enjoy a bit of a risky bet and like to put money on players that are given an outside chance to win, then you are probably curious to find out what the odds are for him to win the Premier League of Darts title. If so, then check out the following table:

Gary Anderson

You have probably heard of Gary Anderson even if you are not a huge darts fan as he has been around for quite a period of time. However, although he has been around for many years, he will be one of the first on the circuit to admit that he has not won as many titles as he would have wished for. At this moment in time, he has nine PDC titles to his name, which, admittedly, is not bad, but a player of his quality probably should have won more. The last time he lifted a PDC title was in 2019 when he won the PDC World Cup of Darts, so he will be searching for his first title in three years.

However, the bookmakers do not really give him a chance of breaking his barren run, which can be seen from the odds that are on offer in the table below:

BoyleSportsBet365LadbrokesWilliamHillBetway888sport
34.0051.0041.0041.0034.0034.00

James Wade

James Wade is another player that has been around for what seems like forever, and over the course of his darting career he has managed to pick up 10 titles, with his last major win being in 2021 when he was victorious in the UK Open. Last year, he made it to the semi-final of the Grand Slam of Darts and the PDC World Cup of Darts, and in 2022 he has made it to the quarter-finals of the UK Open and the PDC World Championship.

In the table below, you can find the odds that the top bookies are offering for Wade to win the Premier League of Darts 2022.

Our Overall Winner

So, out of these eight players, who do we feel will go on to win the Premier League of Darts trophy? Do we think that the sports betting sites are right and that Michael van Gerwen will land his sixth Premier League title, or will someone defy the odds to win the title.

Well, after nine nights of action, van Gerwen is sitting pretty at the top of the table, and a catastrophe would have to happen in order for the Dutchman not to make it to the semi-final play-offs. During the play-offs, we really believe that anyone can end up beating anyone, but we honestly feel thatvan Gerwen will live up to his favourite tag and win the 2022 Premier League of Darts.

Our outright winner: Michael van Gerwen to win.

Wright, Wade, and Smith to win
