The Ryder Cup will take place next week, but before that there is the little matter of the Solheim Cup - the female equivalent of the Ryder Cup. The Solheim Cup 2023 will be played on the Finca Cortesin golf course in Malaga between the 22nd and 24th of September.
If team Europe go on to win, then they will create history by beating team USA three times in a row for the first time ever. Will they achieve this feat? Read on to find out my predictions.
🎱 Solheim Cup Betting Preview
Although there is never the same hype among sports betting fans when it comes to the Solheim Cup, there is plenty to get excited for this time around. Those who tune in to watch it might just witness a little bit of history if the Solheim Cup Europe team comes out on top. Ahead of this competition, the sportsbooks are struggling to split the two sides, with Team Europe being the very slight favourites.
The 2023 Solheim Cup will follow the same format as the 2023 Ryder Cup - 12 golfers will represent each team, with foursomes and fourballs being played on the first and second days and 12 single matches being played on the final day. There are a total 28 points up for grabs, which means that the first team to land 14.5 points will lift the cup.
Before you go ahead and place a bet on the Solheim Cup 2023 outright winner, you need to find out as much as you can about the two teams that will be battling it out for supremacy. Below I shall take a closer look at Team Europe and Team USA, and I shall also provide you with the odds that some of the best bookmakers are currently offering.

Odds for Team USA to Win:
🪢 Tie
The Solheim Cup is one of those competitions that can end in a draw – if this is the case and both teams finish on 14 points, the trophy will remain with the current holders. I must stress that while the odds for a tie look enticing, there has never actually been one in this history of this competition.
Odds for the Solheim Cup to end in a tie:
📊 Solheim Cup Winners
Before you bet on the winner of any golfing event, you should check out who has been successful in previous editions as winning increases confidence, and confidence is something that leads to success. Heading into the 18th edition of this competition, team America have more wins under their belt with ten to Europe's seven, but Team Europe has won four of the previous six editions.
When it comes to Solheim Cup scores, the 2019 edition was actually the closest that we have come to seeing a tie in this tournament, with Europe coming out on top by a solitary point. Seven of the last 17 Solheim Cups have been decided by three points or fewer, while the biggest victory came in 2013 when Europe won the title 18-10.
🏆 2023 Solheim Cup Prediction
One can make the argument that out of the two Solheim Cup teams, Europe have the better top half, but there is a big drop in quality, with all due respect, when you look at the last three names on their roster - Gemma Dryburgh, Caroline Hedwall, and Emily Pedersen. The lowest ranked player on Team USA is Cheyenne Knight, who is ranked 49th, while Dryburgh is ranked 55th, Pedersen is ranked 121st, and Hedwall is ranked 122nd. I am expecting another closely fought contest, and this drop in quality could hurt Team Europe during the single matches on Sunday.
Team Europe does not have the same depth that Team USA has, and I think this lack of depth will see the USA win the cup.
My Prediction to win the 2023 Solheim Cup: Team USA!
⭐ Solheim Cup Betting Tips
Now that I have given you my opinion on who I think will finish at the top of the Solheim Cup standings in 2023, I shall now give you some useful Solheim Cup betting tips. However, the biggest tip that I can give you is to always gamble responsibly and never spend more money than you can afford to potentially lose.
Charlie Hull to be the Top Scorer
The top scorer market has value in both teams, but for me Charley Hull looks set to shine over the weekend. She is just 27 years old, but she has already got plenty of Solheim Cup experience as this will be 6th time competing. Not only does she have vast experience under her belt, but she has also been in some top form as of late - she finished as runner-up in the previous two majors, and was one of the LGPA picks, just missing out on the title. So, if you want to put money on the top scorer, I suggest opting for Hull.
Who Will be the Leading Rookie?
There will be eight rookies teeing off at Finca Cortesin, and you can bet on the rookie that you think will go on to score the more points. I think that the debutant who will do the best is Lilia Vu, who is currently ranked as the best player in the world. She had won the AIG Women's Open and the Chevron Championship this year, so will be full of confidence.
If you do not think that Vu will be the best debutant, then her compatriot, Rose Zhang, is also a good shout as she picked up the LPGA Tour title earlier on in the year.
Ally Ewing to be the Best Captain's Pick
Out of the 24 competitors at this year's Solheim Cup, seven were the Captain's pick, but who will perform the best out of these players? Well, my money is on Ally Ewing as she has plenty of experience in this competition, having played in both the 2019 and 2021 editions. She has had a mixed 2023, but she has finished in the top ten of a good number of competitions, so will be confident heading into this event.
❓ Frequently Asked Questions About the Solheim Cup
What Are the Best Sportsbooks for Solheim Cup Betting?
There are plenty of great bookmakers that will offers competitive odds and a variety of markets for this event, but TonyBet, Palm Slots Sports, and BoyleSports are three of the best ones around at the moment.
Who Will Win the 2023 Solheim Cup?
My money will be on Team USA to win the Solheim Cup as they have better strength in depth than Team Europe. I think will be close on Day Three, but the USA will pull away in the singles.
Who Has Been the Most Successful Team at the Solheim Cup?
Team USA have won the Solheim Cup ten times compared to Europe's seven, but Team Europe has won four of the previous six editions.
