While there aren’t many contests that could be considered as mismatches in the Premier League, Manchester City’s clash with Bournemouth on November 4th is probably as close as it gets. Not only are these two sides currently separated by 18 points and 14 places in the EPL table, for example, but the Cherries’ 2-1 win at home against Burnley last time out was their first in the EPL since a 4-1 thumping of Leeds United on April 30th. As for Pep Guardiola’s City, they were utterly dominant when beating their local rivals Manchester United 3-0 at Old Trafford at the weekend, and are the overwhelming football betting favourites to earn a routine win at the Etihad Stadium. But will they justify this status, or can Bournemouth spring the mother of all surprises in Manchester?
🏆 Man City vs Bournemouth
These two teams have met 19 times since their first encounter on December 1st, 1987, with City remaining unbeaten having won 17 and drawn the remaining two matches. Even more impressively, the Citizens have also won all 13 Premier League games between the two sides, scoring 40 goals and conceding just seven during this sequence.
This season, City have also averaged 63.0% possession across their 10 EPL games so far, while recording a league high 7,705 touches and finding the target with 64 of their attempted shots. The challenge for the Cherries is that they’ve struggled defensively throughout their 2023/24 campaign, winning just 39.4% of their aerial duels (the lowest such percentage in the league and 12% lower than City) and making eight direct errors leading to an opponent’s shot in 10 games. This is at least one more mistake than any other side, so it’s hard to imagine Bournemouth keeping City at bay for long here.
City are also averaging 4.00 goal-creating actions per 90 minutes, while they could well exceed this when they take on Andoni Iraola’s strugglers. Overall, it’s hard to look beyond a comprehensive City win, and one where Guardiola’s side could rack up any number of goals.
My Prediction: 🏆 Man City 5 – 0 Bournemouth ⚽
💯 Man City vs Bournemouth Match Odds
Due to the nature of this match and the obvious chasm that exists between Man City and Bournemouth, some betting markets will offer considerably more value than others. Here’s a closer look at three of the most popular match wagering markets and their latest ante post odds.
🏅 Man City vs Bournemouth: Match Winner
As I’ve already touched on, City are the overwhelming favourites to beat the Cherries, who are priced as long as 23.00 to win at the Etihad Stadium. To provide some context here, these odds imply a probability of just 4.34% that Bournemouth will earn their first ever win over the Citizens on November 4th. Here are the match winner odds in full!

⚽ Man City vs Bournemouth: Both Teams To Score
Our recommended betting sites are also offering odds on BTTS, with City having scored in all but one of their 16 games in all competitions this season and struck 13 goals in five home matches so far. As for the Cherries, they’ve failed to score in five of their 12 games in 2023/24, while they’ve only kept two clean sheets during this run of matches.

🥅 Man City vs Bournemouth: Over/Under 2.5 Goals
While Bournemouth have only scored 13 goals in 12 matches through 2023/24, the contests they’ve been involved in have produced a total of 36 goals at a rate of 3.00 per game. City’s 16 matches have yielded 46 goals in total at a rate of 2.87 per game, and these statistics suggest that there’s a high probability of more than 2.5 goals being scored in this encounter. Our bookies appear to think so too, especially if their ante post odds are anything to go by!

✔️ Man City vs Bournemouth - Betting Tips
Whether you want to wager your hard-earned bankroll or place a free bet on the match between Man City and Bournemouth, it can be hard to identify value in instances where there’s such a short price favourite in play. So, I’ve prepared some betting tips to help you wager as successfully as possible on this game!
- Tip 1: Back Man City to Win With Over 4.5 Goals Scored: There’s very little to be gained by backing Man City to beat Bournemouth outright (unless you commit a huge stake), but you can unlock additional value through strategic parlay or combination betting. For example, if you expect City to dominate and win by a wide margin, you could bet on the Citizens to win with more than 4.5 goals scored in the game at a price of 3.00 with Dachbet Sports. This reflects both City’s attacking prowess and the defensive vulnerabilities that have plagued the Cherries all season.
- Tip 2: Back Erling Haaland to Score 2 Goals or More: City’s expected dominance may also mean that there’s more value to be found in player prop markets. For example, you can back Norwegian hitman Erling Haaland to score twice or more against the Cherries, at the generous price of 2.40 with LegendPlay. Remember, the striker has returned to form of late and struck five goals in his last three matches in all competitions, while he now has a ridiculous 65 goals in 68 games since signing for City in the summer of 2022.
- Tip 3: Back the 1st Goal to be Scored inside 10 Minutes: You can also bet on the timing of the first goal at the Etihad, with City known for their quick starts having struck the most goals (four) in the first 15 minutes of all EPL games this season. Conversely, the Cherries are one of just two sides (along with Burnley) to have conceded three goals during the same period, so they may well come under early fire here. So, consider backing the first goal being scored inside the opening 10 minutes at the competitive price of 3.50 with LegendPlay.
1️⃣ Man City Update
Despite a recent wobble that saw City lose successive EPL games for the first time since December 2018 (and three out of five matches in all competitions), they’ve recorded three consecutive wins since the international break. They were particularly impressive when thumping city rivals United 3-0 at Old Trafford last time out, while the team is now virtually back to full strength following the return of John Stones from injury and the influential Rodri from domestic suspension. Overall, City have won 68.75% of their 16 games this season while scoring 33 goals at a rate of 2.06 per game.

Arsenal 1 Man City 0 | 08.10.23 Premier League |

As I’ve touched on, City are now virtually back to full strength ahead of the visit of Bournemouth, although creative talisman Kevin De Bruyne remains absent with a partial muscle tear. Of course, reserve goalkeeper Zack Steffen will also miss out as he continues his recovery from knee surgery.

2️⃣ Bournemouth Update
It took a stunning, 40-yard lob by midfielder Philip Billing to secure Bournemouth’s win of the 2023/24 EPL campaign, while their narrow, 2-1 victory over fellow strugglers Burnley at the Vitality Stadium was also their first in the top-flight for 14 games since April 30th. However, the Cherries are still 17th in the EPL form table over the previous 10 games, taking just six points from the previous 30 available to them while scoring a meagre eight goals during this run. In truth, Bournemouth continue to struggle at both ends of the pitch, while new manager Andoni Iraola has so far been unable to build on the foundation laid by former coach Gary O'Neil last season.

For all their trials and tribulations, the Cherries will arrive in Manchester with a largely full fit squad to choose from. In fact, 24-year-old defensive midfielder Tyler Adams remains the side’s sole absentee, as the former Leeds man continues his recovery from a hamstring injury.
