🏆 Oleksandr Usyk vs Tyson Fury Prediction

In the first fight between the pair back in May 2024 Usyk emerged victorious by split decision to become the first Undisputed Heavyweight Champion since Lennox Lewis. Fury quickly contested the decision, but the Ukrainian was the clear winner for many in the first fight. A rematch was quickly demanded, and the fight was set for Riyadh on December 21st.

During the first fight Fury certainly challenged the champion Usyk, and in those middle rounds in particular Usyk looked to be in some trouble. The London 2012 Gold Medallist showed his class however, by regaining control of the fight in the later rounds. He even floored Fury in the 9th round as he looked to end the fight before the finish. Fury did well to hang in and see it out until the end, and now gets his chance for revenge on December 21st.

Usyk’s slickness of movement, his agility, speed, grit and boxing ability ultimately won him the first fight, and I would expect a similar story in the rematch. Both men will have their periods of dominance before the Championship rounds separate the two fighters. This is when I would expect Usyk to gain the upper hand and much like the first fight kick for home. It should be close, but I think Usyk can come out of the battle as the winner once again, bringing his record to 23-0.

⭐ Oleksandr Usyk Stats Overview

oleksandr-usyk-boxing-banner

37-year-old Usyk turned professional in 2013 after winning gold at the London 2012 Olympic Games. Starting off at Cruiserweight, it did not take him long to take control of that division and in his tenth fight he had won he won the WBO Cruiserweight Championship. He defended that belt three times before adding the WBC title in January 2018. He then became the first ever four belt Undisputed Cruiserweight champion in July 2018.

After defending that title against Tony Bellew in November 2018, he stepped up to Heavyweight in October 2019, and by the end of his third heavyweight fight he was a unified Heavyweight Champion. He twice defended those belts before becoming a two weight Undisputed Champion by beating Tyson Fury in their first fight back in May 2024. To date, Usyk has a professional record of 22 fights and 22 victories, with 14 coming by knock-out.

⚡ Tyson Fury Stats Overview

Manchester fighter Tyson Fury turned professional in 2008, and quickly went on a winning run which included winning the English Heavyweight title in his eighth fight. He then added the British and Commonwealth belts against Derek Chisora in July 2011, in what was to be the first of three fights against his fellow Brit. Chisora was again his victim in November 2014 when he beat him for the European title as well as the WBO International belt. Fury then became a unified Heavyweight champion when he beat Wladimir Klitschko for the WBA, WBO, IBO, IBF titles in Germany in November 2015.

A break away from the sport for personal reasons then followed, before he returned in 2018 with a couple of wins, setting him up for a bout against Deontay Wilder for the WBC title. That ended in a draw, but led to two more fights between the men, with Fury winning the WBC belt from Wilder in their second fight and retaining it after their third. He also defended the title against Chisora, in their third fight, and Dillian Whyte, before dropping it to Usyk in what was his first professional defeat, in May 2024. Overall, Fury has had 36 professional bouts. He has won 34 of them, drawing 1 and losing 1.

💥 Usyk vs Fury 2: Road to the Rematch

After Oleksandr Usyk won the first fight between the pair back in May the demand for the rematch quickly begun. Fans of the two men have got their wish, and on December 21st in Riyadh the two standout stars of this generation’s heavyweight division will do battle once more.

Usyk was for many people the clear winner of the first fight, but Fury did give the champion some big trouble in those middle rounds back in May. Usyk proved yet again however what a champion he is by wrestling back control of the fight and impressing the judges enough to secure the win. The win meant he became the first Undisputed Heavyweight champion in a quarter of a century, but he subsequently had to give up one of the titles, so on December 21st the IBO, WBC and WBO belts are on the line.

A Usyk win might bring about another Undisputed fight against Daniel Dubois in 2025. If Fury can claim the gold however, it could set up a trilogy fight between the pair in 2025, or an Undisputed fight against Dubois for himself in 2025.
