Current world No. 1 Aryna Sabalenka returns to New York as the two-time defending US Women’s Singles champion, but she has serious questions to answer in 2026 if she wants to win a third straight US Open title.
Sabalenka faces numerous challenges to pick up the championship, not just a vast array of world-class talent all looking to claim the title for themselves. Fresh from winning in Cincinnati, our pick as the 2026 Women’s US Open winner is the home favourite, Coco Gauff. It will not be easy for the 2023 champion to win her second US Open title given the calibre of rivals she has to face (more on them below), but she has entered this year’s tournament in great form. That is in stark contrast to her poor run in 2025 when she had to employ the services of a biomechanics expert to help her with her serve and forehand technique. That relationship looks to finally be paying off for the American as she reached the Wimbledon semi-final in July before reaching another semi-final in Toronto and then winning in Cincinnati to mark her down as our favourite for the title in New York.
She is currently priced between 5.00 and 6.00 with some of our listed Irish bookmarkers for you, and given her stature as one of the most gifted players on the WTA Tour, combined with the form she is now showing, we think the 2026 US Open is where she might pick up her third major title.

1️⃣ Iga Swiatek
Like Coco Gauff, Iga Swiatek looks to be in fine form as she goes in search of her seventh major title and second in New York. The last couple of years have been bumpy for the 25-year-old Polish superstar, with her 2025 Wimbledon win being the only major she has been successful at out of her last 9 attempts.
She has changed coach in 2026 as she bids to try and rediscover that controlled aggression that brought her so much success between 2020 and 2024, and in Toronto and Cincinnati it looked like she was doing that. In Canada, she defeated Elena Rybakina to win her first title in almost a year, while she reached the last four in Cincinnati, losing to Jessica Pegula. Below are the current odds on Swiatek emerging with the win in New York with some of our listed betting sites.
2️⃣ Aryna Sabalenka
The current favourite with most bookies, Sabalenka has not had a great summer, though, losing in the fourth round in Wimbledon before going out in the fourth round in Toronto and Cincinnati.
Her hard-court major form can never be dismissed, however, as she has reached the last seven finals on the surface in both Melbourne and New York, winning in four of those finals. Like in 2025, she enters the US Open without a major to her name in 2026. She was able to correct that last year; can she do the same in 2026?
She hasn’t really shown the kind of form needed to end her trophy drought so far, and with some of her rivals catching fire, it could prove difficult, but if you think she can turn her season around with a victory, below are the odds on her winning her third straight US Open.
3️⃣ Elena Rybakina
Rybakina, who can become the new world No. 1 if she reaches the semi-finals in New York, is something of a dark horse for this year’s tournament. Before Cincinnati, she was at the forefront of most people’s minds when it came to picking some US Open betting tips, but that leg injury she suffered against Iga Swiatek certainly put doubts in people’s minds. There were even doubts about her participation at the event, but she has managed to get herself to New York, and if the injury can be managed effectively, she is undoubtedly a huge threat to everyone in the draw.
Curiously her record in New York is quite poor, having never got beyond the fourth round, but if her smooth and powerful serve and groundstrokes can get firing, a potential quarter-final showdown with Swiatek is on the cards if both manage to get through the next couple of rounds.
