His main weapon is his long ball potting, so his opponents will not want to leave him any long shots down the table. He is also a prolific break builder when he is on song.

During the 2019/20 season, he lifted no fewer than six ranking event titles, which is the record for the most ranking competitions won in a single season. He is one of the most naturally talented snooker players of his generation, so will definitely have a good shot at winning this competition for the first time - he has finished as runner-up on three occasions.

So, when it comes to the winner of this prestigious event, who do I think will be getting their named engraved on the trophy? Well, there is only one player that I would consider putting my money on, and that is Ronnie O'Sullivan. Yes, he has not been in the same type of form in recent years as the likes of Allen and Murphy, but this is his competition, and he always brings his A-game to China.
Chinese Snooker fans love The Rocket, so he will also have plenty of support from the home crowd - something which will spur him on even more. The player who prevents O'Sullivan from claiming a third consecutive Shanghai Masters title and his fifth overall, will have had to put in one hell of a performance.

He has a mental hurdle that he needs to get over - once he wins his first title, I am sure he will go on and pick up more trophies. However, until his first trophy is in the bag, I do not recommend putting your money on him to win.
