Facts
- The Hammers, who triumphed in the Europa Conference League, have made a flying start to the new season with three wins and a draw from their first four Premier League games. West Ham are currently in the top four and, despite their poor record against Man City, are confident going into their clash with the current defending champions.
- The Irons should not pose much of a threat to the Citizens, especially after their treble win, especially as they could hardly offer them any resistance last season, losing both games 5-0 on aggregate. Apart from the 2-1 defeat to West Ham in September 2015, Man City have won all 15 league games against the Hammers.
- There have been 119 games between these two clubs since 1924, with the Citizens clearly leading the way. West Ham have 38 wins to their name, while City have 62 wins to 19 draws. Guardiola's side have beaten West Ham seven times in their last seven away games. The last match took place in London on 7 August 2022 and ended in a 0-2 victory for Man City.
Prediction
West Ham host Man City at the London Stadium on Saturday 16 September at 16:00 for matchday five of the Premier League.
The Hammers have made a great start to the season and are on 10 points after their first four Premier League games, with a draw in each and three wins in a row. The success against Chelsea stands out in particular, but the win against newly promoted Luton was also quite convincing.
The Moyes-coached squad compensated for the slip-ups in the two pre-season games before the start of the new season with an almost optimal points haul.
Manchester City are currently the sole league leaders and still without defeat, with arguably the strongest defence and most goal-hungry offence in the entire Premier League. Haaland, by the way, leads the scoring charts with six goals after only four match days.
Guardiola's declared aim is obviously to take all three points in order to extend their lead over their direct rivals. However, West Ham should not be taken lightly, also in view of the home advantage, which, however, has not made much difference in recent encounters against the Citizens.
City are undoubtedly the superior team, but we don't think it will be a walk in the park. When compiling a betting slip using the betting configurator, we choose Double Chance (X2), with both teams scoring at least one goal and the total number of goals exceeding the threshold of 2.5.
Odds
In the first four league games, West Ham conceded easy goals time and again. City have a total of 13 goals to their name, but at the same time have given goals away in three of their last five games.
Therefore, the goal difference could probably be quite high, which is why the bookmakers are looking for a guide value more than 2.5 goals.

Overview
The top-of-the-table clash between the fourth-placed Hammers and current Premier League leaders Manchester City is upon us.
Although City have a strong record against West Ham, we expect a close and hard-fought encounter
West Ham
West Ham have caused a big surprise this season, taking 10 points and beating Premier League rivals such as Chelsea and Brighton. On the last matchday before the international break, the Conference League champions defeated debutant promoted Luton Town 2-1.

There is only one doubt for Moyes: he should essentially stick with the line-up that impressed against Luton Town. Paqueta and Emerson are in and Soucek should start in midfield instead of Ward-Prowse.

Man City
Guardiola's Citizens, who quickly secured all three points and added the UEFA Super Cup, proved even more commanding than the Londoners.
On the matchday before the international break, the European champions swept Fulham off their feet with a veritable fireworks display of goals.
