5 Options to Replace Mo Salah at Liverpool.

Mo Salah’s legendary spell at Liverpool is coming to an end, with the Egyptian superstar announcing that the 2025/26 season will be his last with the Anfield club before he leaves on a free in the summer. Only Roger Hunt and Ian Rush have scored more goals for the club than Salah’s 255, while his return of 191 goals in 323 appearances, including 189 in 310 (at the time of writing) for Liverpool puts him 4th on the Premier League’s all-time record goalscorer list, behind Alan Shearer, Harry Kane and Wayne Rooney.
2 Premier League titles, 1 Champions League, 1 FA Cup and a League Cup, which could become even more by the time he leaves, mean Salah will certainly go down as one of Liverpool’s greatest ever players, with, perhaps, only the King, Kenny Dalglish, topping him as Liverpool’s greatest ever player.
Liverpool will now be tasked with finding a replacement for Salah, so below we have compiled our list of 5 right wingers the club could look to.
The Replacement Options

Michael Olise, Bayern Munich
The perfect choice for Liverpool may be Michael Olise of Bayern, although it is hard to envisage Bayern wanting to sell their star right winger. Only Lamine Yamal can perhaps challenge the France international for the title of best right winger in the world at the moment, with Olise shining for Bayern this season, hitting 16 goals and 23 assists in all competitions.
He also has the small matter of a World Cup this summer, where he is expected to shine in what looks like a star-studded French forward line. It would surely take a world-record fee for Bayern to even entertain an approach from Liverpool, and even then it appears to be a longshot at this stage.
Yan Diomande, RB Leipzig
Diomande has become one of Europe’s most coveted footballers this season after a breakout campaign in the Bundesliga for RB Leipzig. 11 goals and 8 assists for Leipzig have seen the Ivorian international’s value skyrocket, while his ability to play on both flanks is another major advantage in his locker. Whether Liverpool will be willing to pay a huge fee for a player with only 1 full season in one of Europe’s top leagues behind him remains to be seen, but he is certainly one of the most exciting players on the market.
Matias Soule, AS Roma
The Argentine has been linked to Liverpool in recent times and would be an interesting option as Salah’s replacement. Liverpool do have a good history of signing left-footed attackers from Roma, though, so might Soule follow Salah in leaving the Eternal City for Merseyside? Although predominantly a central player for Roma, he can play wider, with his creativity a major plus for anyone interested in the 22-year-old. 7 goals and 7 assists are not mind-blowing numbers, but Roma have struggled at times this season, and Soule has still shone in Gianpiero Gasperini’s team.

Maghnes Akliouche, AS Monaco
Akliouche is another strong contender to replace Salah at Liverpool this summer. The France international has shone for Monaco, playing in the right-wing position that Salah has held for so many years at Anfield. His recent performance against PSG will not have gone unnoticed, with his technical ability and skills on the ball potentially attractive traits for Liverpool. Akliouche has 7 goals and 8 assists for a Monaco side 6th in Ligue 1 and looks likely to earn a place in Didier Deschamps' French squad for the World Cup.
Bradley Barcola, PSG
Barcola has plenty of competition for a starting spot in the PSG starting 11, so he may be an option if he wants to become the main man at a top European club. The 23-year-old, who joined PSG from Lyon in 2023, has scored 12 goals and assisted another 6 this season, while he contributed handsomely to their treble-winning campaign last season, hitting 21 goals and 21 assists as Luis Enrique led the Paris club to their first ever Champions League title.
He possesses great pace and skill and can play anywhere across the frontline, something Liverpool may find attractive as they search for Salah’s replacement.
Conclusion
Replacing a legendary figure like Salah is not going to be an easy thing for Liverpool this summer given the performances and stats the Egyptian has racked up over the years at Anfield. Whether they go down the high-profile, big-money route or try and buy potential and develop that player into another Mo Salah type remains to be seen, but it’s safe to say watching Liverpool in this summer’s transfer window is potentially going to be box office once again, just like last year.
